Crap hole...

So that means in JB, it leaves me with a choice of

Sticking with Maxis (decent speed, but customer service makes u feel like falcon-punching them and shout - PuKemaK-U)
Or try P1 Wimax (after reading P1 thread here, i feel scare... and their coverage is not that wide yet... covers my main office but not my home nor second office..)

HAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII...... apa hal ini? Vision 2020, PUIIII... thanks to all these Mareysian Service Provider, balik stone age got la.. 2020.. wait long long

well, ed0gawa, if u want u can still try celcom but there is no way of escaping 5GB fair usage policy as of now. there i said. well malaysia is that way and will remain that way for a long time. so either u build ur own ISP company or go to different privileged countries like korea, there is no way of escaping it. hell, even china internet service is progressing so well that their internet penetration rate is currently 20 times faster and better than malaysia. that based on the last time i read. maybe now it is greater... it is a shame since malaysia started one or two decades earlier...

best is u go to korea though. they will have 5G connection and aiming for 1Gbps by 2012. that's 3 years from now. not so far-fetched if u follow their progress in internet expansion. even now, they can apply for 100Mbps connection... envy!!!

http://www.nytimes.com/external/gigaom/200...-bro-37514.html

or if u prefer nearer country, just have to cross to singapore, a mere 30 min drive from JB... M1 offers good wireless broadband and it is unlimited. no such thing as fair usage policy or throttling speed, check it out:

http://www.m1.com.sg/M1/site/M1Corp/menuit...ate:0903051321:

take a look at their upload speed, min up to 512kbps, not 10kbps like celcom. that's massive for wireless broadband. so there is no excuse for celcom not being able to do so. unless they want to gain maximum profit with lowest possible service. even worse, check their wired broadband...

http://www.m1.com.sg/M1/site/M1Corp/menuit...000695a230aRCRD

Max to 100Mbps... Like 20 times faster than any wired broadband in malaysia. pure agony if u look at it...

My connection today was the best for the whole week. Manage to dowload file more than 30MB on EDGE (don't ask time it finished downloading). No sign of sudden 0 bytes so far... Hope this situation will continue... rclxms.gif

so far i heard it only applies for anime and it was becoz of one anime company. movie and other types of media are still ok. but even anime case got thrown out of the court the last time i checked. not sure about current situation.

i still believe it is beta to have fast connection with risk rather than slow connection with no risk but limited access. my point is the difference in internet service across the causeway is way too big. if i'm not mistaken, celcom started wireless service way before M1. but due to numerous, unexplained reasons, celcom is now the slower of the two. they r already using HSPA, means it uses both HSDPA and HSUPA.

i think the root of problem lies in the power of the customers. in malaysia, customers cannot dictate any upgrade in services and even the suggestions or complains are not taken seriously. more than often these valuable inputs fail to reach the top ppl or the top ppl just simply ignore it. but in singapore, customers have the power to invoke changes. guess that is y singapore is the service hub in this part of the world. coz their service is not limited to just provide one but to improve one for the benefit of customers and alike. customer's rights r well protected and respected in singapore, too.

if only our country is half as good as it, we will be on the right path for 2020 vision. as things stand now, we r far from it.

I don't think so. The transfer rate is around 200kbps... hmm.gif
If they do, I'll screw them upside down.

Plus, I can't register using other person's name as they need the person's photostated I.C.

Added on March 5, 2009, 3:58 pmJust tested on P1:
Download Speed: 336kbps (42 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 59 kbps (7.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 143

On Speedometer:
Average speed: 174kbps
Maximum speed: 314kbps

wow. so can we do that all the time? terminate service once get capped and resubmit for fresh 5GB quota? it is abit inconvenient though.

guess they really cap upload speed to 10kbps-50kbps max. (though i got like less than 10 often) so sad... no more image upload or blog update (those wif photo)... unless u make ur pics 300x300 res or something of that size. this is really like dial-up already...

Err. Every new registration needs to pay RM 10 for stamp duty. If you don't mind paying RM 10 every month. laugh.gif

ah... i forgot the silly RM 10 stamp duty. lol. so this way is not viable as well. so either endure or abandon.

true i also find it difficult to upload pics to my blog. sure i can always reconnect using GPRS but it takes too much time and effort. so inconvenient.
