Yeah that happens. Actually the WCDMA/HSDPA reception quality is too weak at your area even though there's a signal. So you surf for awhile it'll drop off to EDGE networks. Same thing happen to me in my home and office. It'll drop off to EDGE. At home, when I go to my room, fuyoh! Full bar HSDPA and consistent max speed.

with 50% off the modem price, very worth it to wait for digi 3g broadband, huawei e160 is sellling for rm 399 here in penang, even csl modems are rm 375, really siaoww the pricing here.
*
Yeah, I was delighted also to hear that from Digi. I was thinking to buy my own modem (E220) but they were selling it between RM250-300 (depending on warranty, some are returned units with limited warranty). When I hear that the E219 modem can be had for just RM180 (or RM15 x12), I quickly grab it. Of course, at some point there is a slight possibility that Digi (and other telcos) maybe giving it for free.

But you're right. The ones selling outside is overpriced. I don't think they are valued properly. But Huawei seems to have a majority of the marketshare from telcos ya... haha! Every telco is offering Huawei USB modems.

By the way, anyone of you have problem with IM? I seem to be disconnected every now and then on Digi even though my signal is excellent and surfing is fine.

Actually you can know when you register for it. smile.gif
Alternatively, you may call 016-2211800 to enquire, else you gotta wait for your first bill to reach you.

Yes, RM 5.00 will be deducted. smile.gif

i have been experiencing frequent disconnection from the network. Anyone having similar problem?

Same here, frequent disconnection and often I need to refresh the page. It could be that they are doing something to their network for the time being.

Same here too. The Digi Dashboard doesn't show any disconnection but you will see that the data transfer will momentarily stop for nothing. During this idling, I guess this is where things are disconnected. I wonder if we can check IP from the dashboard, if it is changed then sure disconnection has happened. As a result, my Windows Live always get disconnected and I have to refresh the webpages from time to time (as they will time out). Signal reception is very strong though.

I realize, if we keep transferring data or downloading something the disconnection will be lesser. Wondery why.

u get it wrong. 3G and GSM (GPRS/EDGE) using different network. Like celcom; digi will install 3G transmitter in town/pekan area not kampung tower.

I have test cecom 3G can go more than 6km. Digi 3G signal must better than celcom.

Perhaps the connection will be disconnected on idle or something like that. It happened to me a few times when I just leave it connected with Windows Live Messenger and the connection totally disconnected.

What kind of assumption is this? Please at least state some proof for your claim.
I was a user of Celcom broadband for more than a year and gave up on it. Why? Endless maintenance and fake promises. shakehead.gif
Oh ya, the petty 5GB fair usage policy too.
Yes, I know DiGi broadband has too but at least they are providing promised speed, not like Celcom. D98 but can get dial up speed, I got before and I hadn't exceeded 5GB fair usage policy yet that time.

I'm not a DiGi 3G broadband user just for your information, so don't think that my post is biased.

Anyway, I'm a DiGi EDGE user and though it is slower than Celcom broadband but trust me the stability is something Celcom broadband lack about. Oh ya, for DiGi EDGE it has no fair usage policy at all, not even stated in one of the clauses (Proof: http://www.digi.com.my/data_services/gprs/...gprs_mb_tnc.do). I have downloaded more than 10GB this month and still kicking very good. I have read there is a forummer here has downloaded more than 64GB/month on DiGi EDGE as it is not capped.

Seriously I can say something good about Digi. The service experience and quality has been very consistent and stable. I've brought it to a few places and it can connect to HSDPA and WCDMA all the time. Even on places that was not plotted in their own coverage map. Probably it is not updated but at least I am impressed.

Of course, the number of Digi broadband subscribers are increasing so we don't know if these conditions will be permanent any longer. That'll be something I will be writing few months from now. For now, it has met my expectations. Although I was hoping it can achieve higher than 1Mbps transfer rates (it didn't), but thats ok since my plan is not the Extreme. It is already very good considering my Streamyx cannot maintain its consistency during download. With Digi, its the max all the way during file downloads.
