for me it was jerking of the car when it was moving. also during gearshifts. my car's a manual. it died while i was driving up a slope. lol. actually symptoms might not appear. if one day your engine stalls randomly its most probably the fuel pump.

ive got another question... if i wanna change my air filter to k&n drop in... can i DIY? or do i need a mechanic to do it? how much would it cost including labour?
*
Mine died 2 months back..that time mileage almost 180k km..huhu..car cannot start at all..when u crank feels nothing..huhu
About that k&n i just bought 2nd hand..rm100+already oiled by that seller..what a deal biggrin.gif

RON95 is not suggested for turbo cars.. if his scooby was an NA impreza, then it's fine..

a lower RON rate indicates a higher burning rate and otherwise if it's higher.. meaning that, if a turbo car runs on lower RON, petrol will evaporate faster in the combustion chamber leaving it with detonation (combustion without fuel).. and that would lead to pinging, and even worse, engine seizure as the combustion chamber is dry..
*
No. RON levels do not indicate higher burning rate. Rather it indicates a higher ignition point. Higher RON fuel is harder to ignite but burns the same, hence the energy content of the fuel is the same. Having a RON level lower than the min for the engine means that the ECU in the engine will not be able to compensate the ignition timing to the point where pre-detonation does not happen.

For your information, all export models of Subaru Impreza runs on RON95 to cater for the lower RON levels in countries outside of Japan. Anything higher than RON95 is considered as premium fuels and not carried by every petrol station, making it difficult to refuel.

anyone have gear problems with waja '03 models?
*
QUOTE(wilander @ Aug 4 2009, 04:01 PM)
I'm having it now. Kinda hard to shift to gear 2 and 1 sometimes.
*
QUOTE(coyouth @ Aug 4 2009, 04:09 PM)
same here! it's always gear 1 & 2 for me.
*
QUOTE(coyouth @ Aug 4 2009, 04:35 PM)
yup, have sent for servicing. have even changed to toyota oil when the original one wasn't showing improvement. i'm just afraid now that my gear's giving way, and would die on me soon...
*
check the solenoid valves. i had to replace 4 (D, 3, 2 L) out of 5 (R, D, 3, 2, L) valves as they were faulty early this year.

cost about RM 180+ each, exclusive of installation and new ATF

It's much better to change at 5k km, so that the carbon deposit will be much lesser than going for 10k km

For the improvement gain, it considered expensive, same like LCP But I used LCP anyway since I've already done intake and exhaust laugh.gif .

spark plug and cable unable to give u dramatic improvement, i would say too little to notice. Iridium, last longer then others, that's all.

hi all...
i want to replace my whole suspension system coz already reach 8year.
does this absorber suitable for my driving style..
http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=884633&hl=
i wanto go for performance absorber + sport spring.

btw my driving style : in city very conservative-i didnt take sharp corner, accelerate only when necessary and i will facing a lot of bump everyday.
But during travelling i'll drive up to maximum speed (130~150) at night, so i need a comfy ride for long journey.
btw i'm still satisfied with the stock suspension system just it start produce nyek..nyek sound. Can i use the stock spring?? i'm a bit lazy to slow down when thru the speed bump. So the current height very suit to me.
TQ in advance
