arghh.... my waja is left stranded in my office compound.
the engine suddenly died during driving on the road. all system switched off. wtf! luckily, died near my office popped out the hood, checked what's wrong. the 30A ignition fuse burnt. replace a new one, and immediately burnt. try to use a piece of wire, smokes. damn... some serious electrical problem. so the car is basically dead. turn the key, all blank. fark. 3 yrs+ with excellent record, and suddenly this bummer. have to wait till monday to send it to the shop and check what's wrong with the electrical and always, with electrical, it's expensive anyone had the same problem before? where should i start poking? replace the ignition? or some exposed wires? QUOTE(zenwarlord @ Jan 18 2009, 10:48 AM) the weird thing is that the alarm + central locking works fine. in fact, anything that uses the battery, but w/o the ignition key turned on, worksthe batt was replaced less than a year ago. the 100Amp fuse on the batt + lead is fine. so is the 80A batt fuse in the fuse compartment. all fuses are ok, except for the 30A fuse marked with "key and switch" logo. it keeps burning out even if replaced with a new fuse anyone got the electrical wiring / circuit diagram for waja? mebbe need to trace and check the key ignition switch line |

QUOTE(zenwarlord @ Jan 18 2009, 02:45 PM) "key and switch" fuse burn bcos that is the very 1st on/off circuit, if that fuse don't burn then it will damage ither device even ur ECU. Did you install anything lately? Worst to the worst u need to remove all the deivce such as HU, Aircon panel, meter, hazard module, heater, wiper, power window and see whether the fuse still burn. turns out to be a faulty sensor in the GEARBOX!wth? gearbox? and still haven't figure out which of the four sensors. There's five in the gearbox. The reverse is OK. when put in drive, all went dead. haiseh... paiseh... |

QUOTE(zenwarlord @ Jan 23 2009, 08:34 AM) it's MMC ECU, but customised by PROTON with model number MR507879. a new one from Proton Parts Center is RM 5,946.++it's essentially a 40Mhz computer with 512kb ram. the price? god damn rejoice to those using Campro engine as it's using SIEMENS-VDO ECU which should be less expensive |

burnt wires in the transmission harness
![]() the culprit: the socket for the solenoid valves sensors shorted due to water accumulated in it. better be careful. keep it dry. sumbat sama silicon banyak2 next time ![]() the burnt tranmission harness also hantam the connecting socket to the ECU ![]() the burnt ECU ![]() hey, it's a MMC! total Proton brand new parts: RM 5,900 (ECU) + RM 1,100 (harness) + RM 640 (solenoid valve x 4) - exclusive of labor my aim to get used parts: RM 400 (ECU) + RM 200 (harness). the valves have to use new ones lar.... although this is an isolated case, for me proton failed big time. but i still have faith in them with the upcoming mistubishi waja lancer |

OK. Some important technical info for 4g18p Waja owners
Don't take it for granted. though all 4g18p waja from yr 2001 to 2005 shares the same engine and product code, the electrical wiring DIFFERS. this is so true, depending on the location of ECU and the wiring harnessess there are 3 configurations - one with ECU in the engine bay (1st gen), one under the air-con duct (2nd gen) and one behind the glove box (3rd gen) after my series of unfortunate electrical incidents, i came to find out (actually, EON manager explained to me) that mine is the 3rd gen 4g18p waja (2005). the wiring harnesses is nowhere the same as the previous two generations 1st and 2nd gen 4g18p has one long and thick wire harness while the 3rd gen has a "LEFT" and "RIGHT" harness. my LEFT harness, which is the transmission harness burnt out. so, guys. lesson leanrt; anything regarding electrical is expensive to repair. very very expensive. and earlier 4g18p WAJA varies a LOT from one another! |
