Just got a job offer, and they want me to start quick, like first day January quick. Obviously can't quit abruptly from my current company. Can't tell them I got another offer, because as I've heard it'll make me look like a jerk. So what do I say to my boss/hr? Obviously I have to lie, what do I say?

QUOTE(ninja88 @ Dec 21 2011, 12:10 PM)
I want to ask forumers' opininon here, here's what happened to me.

I was chased out from my working place by my store manager, he's stated "to not coming back at all after I stepped out of the workplace", Is that the same as fired?

Then, I ask my HR, what to do, since I still want to work. He told me to go back working as usual even though everyone 'pulau' me there. Yes, I'm going back to work as usual and yes, everyone 'pulau' me already. My store manager of course doesn't even look at my face at all. He already issued a warning letter for small fault that i did. Actually, I found all his accusations in the letter is truly ridiculous coz he actually let other workers to do it but not me, yet issued me a warning letter. He didn't give me the letter yet, but he already handed it to HR.

Now, the HR is handling my case. I already requested to be transfered to other store, I'm not sure it's approved or not. The worst thing could happen to me is when the warning letter issued, I'll lose all the benefits included annual bonus, shrinkage bonus and incentives for a year which is a lot and costs me a very big loss.

Now, I'm stuck. If I left my job, it'll be very hard for me to get a new job since my record is now bad due to the f*ckin letter. I can't find a new job yet, and I'm sure words and rumours are spreading around about me, and I think the new place is most likely to be the same as my previous one since I was given the 'letter'.

I want to know, what should I do now? what should I do if all my bonuses taken back for a year (it's a big amount though)? How do I fight back in this matter?
*
Why the hell that you being enemy of the whole store? What the hell that you did? I think if it is your fault, don't get to protective and too many excuses and just go apologize to your boss. After all, he is your boss and you should respect him..

You don't lie. You just tell the truth about how you want to advance and how you think moving on will give you a better chance to advance be it in responsible, package or others. Lying makes you cheap and sooner people will found out. Good Luck.

Please accept this letter as my formal notice of resignation from [Company Name], effective from [Resignation Date] with [one month prior notice].

[Company Name] = My company full name
[Resignation Date] = i should fill up the tender date (end of Jan)? or the resignation date (29-Feb)?
[one month prior notice] = stick to the statement too if my company with 1 month prior notice?

Hi GK

U going to Singapore?

U can state the last date of employment which can be either 1 mth notice and 2 months of salary in lieu of notice or any combination that you have agreed with HR/superior.

Make sure that HR acknowledge receipt your resignation letter and also the cheque (if any)

You dont seem like the type that cant write. This is ot as difficult as you think. Just go straight to the point.
I hereby give to resign wef ___. I will compensate the company 3 months salary in lieu of notice.

nah, not yet but hopefully biggrin.gif long time no c u and thanks for the answer!

Do I give my resignation letter through email and hard copy as well to my direct superior cc HR manager? If the HR/direct superior doesnt approve of the payback, I can do nothing much right? How do I ensure that HR acknowledge receipt? Do I need to ask HR manazer to sign a duplicate copy of the resignation letter for my keepsake?

There is no such thing as dont accept. Just hand in your notice and walk out.
Please, the red text is understood! You dont need people here to teach you such things, do you?

Hmm, okay faceless. First time resigning, don't know much about it altho did my research.

Btw, regarding the payback in lieu, THAT should be agreed upon first or can I just write and payback in cheque/cash promptly like the resignation letter.

I promise to give you iPad for RM1000 tomorrow. You dont believe me. You decided that if I cannot give you iPad for R1000 tomorrow I must pay you RM100 for playing you as a sucker. I agree with it and we sign a contract. Tomorrow I dont give iPad but I pay you RM100. You still want to sue me for not giving you iPad for RM1000? Can meh?

Right, you cannot sue me. You want to negotiate further? If so it is a different deal all together.

You put forth your new deal. Sell you an iPad for RM2000. I decided that it is a no deal. You can force me to sell you iPad for Rm2000 meh?

Apply the above concept to the resignation scenario, it should answer your questions.

By the way the 3 points for your letter are
1) resign notice wef
2) pay compensation in lieu of notice
3) acknowledge received of your cheque

Hi guys I'm currently working with a local chinaman company in medical supplier biz as sales exec..an MNC Pharma company approached me with better offer, doubling my salary and willing to buy me out.

However I have to pay my 3 months notice and 2 years training bond which comes to RM9000 first before the MNC will reimburse me.

My question is do I need to state this payment in lieu of notice in my resignation letter and how do I make payment? The MNC also asked for receipt and release letter before I can start work there.

Another problem is how to make payment since I don't have a current account and cannot write cheque.

Sorry I have very little knowledge on resignation since this is only my second time resigning and first one I served the notice period.

I dont see how is your case different from Glory Knight (the post are in this page too) except the bond. You have problems applying the same concept to your case?

ninja88, if you are genuinely innocent, the scenario above can be treated as constructive dismissal. you can just put a letter to your superior & hr stating that you treat this act upon you as constructive dismissal and then go and lodge a report with Industrial Relations Dept for CD. compensation up to 24months.
but of course, this is a long process, and please tackle the root cause of such treatment.
it cannot be the whole department is boycotting you for no reason right?

GK, resignation is the RIGHT of an employee. Hence, you don't need an approval from your employer to resign. Just serve the notice as stated in the appointment letter, or pay back salary in lieu.
End of story.

Bl@ze, you can request your new employer to pay directly to your current company. Request a letter from your current company stating the amount which you owe the company and need to pay back. Send this letter to the new company and request the new company to issue cheque directly to the current company.
of course, this is a suggestion, and it's up to the budi bicara of the new company.

yes, i'm genuinely innocent. my prev lousy boss report to HR i didnt do my job la, slack off la, lots of thing and it's not true. he told HR also that he didnt halau me, i'm the one who leave the office by myself, why cctv cannot record voices too??

so, my senior sv suggest me to move to other store, and I did. thank god, my new working place is much better than previous one and bcoz of the incident I'm in a much better place now. I can lodge a report to Labour Dept if I want to, but since I'm just few months working and this is my 1st job and also I dont want a bad record since i'm working in a MNC, so I prefer not to report anything. and also i'm right now looking for a new job discreetly and just be nice to my current boss.

if i report, sure my name will be blacklist..
