Hi all,

Noob question coming up, recently one of my gf's robos died. We plan to get another one, but we're not sure of the sex of the remaining one. It won't let us hold it, so i only managed to get the photo below (apologies for the low quality). Would like to know if the hamster is a guy or gal. user posted image
Thanks!

p.s: Will be getting a same sex one and hopefully they won't fight...

males normally have pink swellings at the back, since your ham doesn't seem to have one(or is it me blind? rolleyes.gif ) it must be HER.

My both robo smile.gif got 7 pups already. the pups are 13 days old . I'm happy coz none of them died . all is in healthy condition right now .. Just waiting them to grow up. Just only 2 open eyes already. The rest run around with eyes closed ^^ .

But the mummy is starting to less care em' already, is it normal?
*
Is normal when they start to open the eyes and the mother will start to ignore them. Robo will wean at 18days or so. They will have their solid food. So start to adjust the water bottle and give smaller piece food. Almost 4 weeks they can go to their new home but advisable not to do so.

Hi all.... I'm wondering, is there any lubricants that can help on the running wheels? It's really making a lot of noise. The effect is even worst when it is at night..

the forum is categorised into syrians, dwarfs, health section and even a section to post pictures. there's barely any member there. so, why don't you join and make it active.
this forum ensure your questions with answers and gives EVERYONE chance to post their ideas. here's the link http://sharkhams.heavenforum.com/index.htm

You can use petroleum jelly (aka Vaseline) to lubricate the wheel.

Please do not use vegetable oil as it will get mold sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

I saw it in Petshop, it was only 1 set (same like the box's pic), dun worry smile.gif

Jst brought a peach sticks, hopefully my hammies wil love 2 chew it... If not my gf said want me chew it (coz wasted $$ again~) sweat.gif

Brought a Marukan silent wheel ( 15cm) 4 my syarian, hope it wil fit him. My original wheel tt cm w/ cage was too noisy, so i switch 2 normal silent wheel (12cm)... bt looks like he was "too big" 2 fit inside. rclxub.gif

I usually use Chipsi bedding for my mice and hammie. I don't understand d language on d packaging, wat type of wood is it made of?

another question:
kaytee bedding is made from pine, but i read that pine bedding isn't good for hammies, but i heard that kaytee is a good brand. So is it okay to use it?

no, no matter what brand is it pine must not be used. there are other beddings by kaytee too. so, why don't you try those. just to let you know i saw a thread in here that says kaytee food products has ETHOXYQUIN and i've seen an article about it before. although it is in small amount, it can be dangerous.

So far no reported incident of death of humans or small animals from using Petroleum jelly since they discovered it in 1859.

Hamster have high metabolism and requires food constantly. That is why dry food is required in the tank 24/7.

Did you leave them enough water in the water bottle?

Also you said your hamster lived to be 2 years old could a reason that she died of old age hmm.gif hmm.gif hmm.gif

Yes! Just avoid any pine wood shavings. Can consider corncob, recycle paper (Breeder Celect or Back 2 Nature) and hay to be use for bedding. Wood shaving can use Aspen wood shavings which is safe.

Can you post the link to the article regarding this ETHOXYQUIN? It is best to post here to let us know more.
