I got a pair of robo but then it always scare of me. The moment I put my hand in, they will run up into the house. Any idea or older thread can guide me to tame my robo?

Syrian still nibble abit regardless how tame is it. Don't worry. You can feed veggie to make it fat. About twice a week. Clear the remaining after 24hours. Then your syrian will grow in size very fast.

Haiz, my 2 robo really get scared of my but then once they got the sand pile to dig on, they don't mind touching them. biggrin.gif

Syrian this days quite hard to find. Found some also in bad condition. Especially mid valley. Absolutely no the type as a pet. Breeding robos now. About to deliver soon. Bout after chinese new year if not mistaken. thumbup.gif

Any plan to give some of the babies away? If yes, please pm me.  drool.gif
I had a hard time finding robo & winter white/pearl hamster.

Yes I will put of for adoption once the baby is ready to go to new home. Keep updated with the adoption thread. STRICTLY for pet lovers only. I don't want to give to some1 that will torture my robos.

What breed of hamster is it? It is possible for that to happen. The cage might be to complicated and when the female/male got stuck somewhere and their partner might step of them will cause a fight. It happens to my winter white before but i manage to reintroduced them back after 1month.

I rare WW for so many years. Putting them together of never experience any fight before except once. Yes indeed the female and male will continue to breed provided there is enough nutrition and space around. Once my WW gave to 9 in a litter, the male stopping mating with the female. What happens is when the female are still feeding the babies with the male around wants to mate the female it will cause a fight and sometimes the female got stuck esp in bar cages and one of them step on them will also cause a fight. I saw it with my own eyes.

Ovo cage is nice for the hamster to play around but when it goes to cleaning it will be the worst part unless you're very free weekly to clean the cage.

1 - Drill a hole. Use a suction cup and cable tie to the bottle on the outside of the tank.
2 - Use a suction cup and cable tie to the bottle on the inside of the tank.
*
Or create a S-shape wire. Get a plastic net. Make it like a pipe. Tie it then fit the bottle into the net. Then hang it with the S shaped. The net pipe should be slightly smaller than the bottle. So it can hold the bottle.

1. Drilling may cause the tank to crack.
2. Suction cups will leave marks.

Try to get robo or ww from breeder. I saw all the hamster condition at Mid Valley Pets Wonderland. Is so not worth buying. All in bad condition. They don't even remove the dead hamster and don't know when is the last time they clean the cage. I got one source of hamster mainly robo but bout one month once got the supply. All in good condition. PM me for the address.

My both robo smile.gif got 7 pups already. the pups are 13 days old . I'm happy coz none of them died . all is in healthy condition right now .. Just waiting them to grow up. Just only 2 open eyes already. The rest run around with eyes closed ^^ .

But the mummy is starting to less care em' already, is it normal?
*
Is normal when they start to open the eyes and the mother will start to ignore them. Robo will wean at 18days or so. They will have their solid food. So start to adjust the water bottle and give smaller piece food. Almost 4 weeks they can go to their new home but advisable not to do so.

Hamsters sleep during the day and wakes up at night. They are more active at night.

They will eat while sleeping also.
*
You can train your hamster to be awake in the morning and it takes time. Try to play, fill in the food during the day. About 2 months they will be awake on the day. But starting your hamster might dislike it. My robo active during the day. Provided you have a cooling cage. A heaty cage makes them sleep even more.

*sigh*
still got water in the bottle..
I found out that her tummy was bloated.. sad.gif
so sad..I wasn't around with her when she died..
haih haih..
hope she r.i.p..

Your hamster died due bad digestion. You must have fed something SHOULDN'T be fed to your hamster. I also experience once. Moreever already 2 years. Too much vegetable maybe. And your bottle might be poisonous. Have you check? Direct pipe water got a lot of chlorine. Long term consumption kills your hamster.

To tame a roborovski needs time and patient. What you can do is filter all the sunflower seed out first. Add the remaining into the food bowl. Then slowly use your hand to feed it. DO THIS DAILY. If you skip a few days is useless. And please do give enough sunflower seed.

I use this tactic and my robo now slighty tame. Can be handle but it will never allowed me to grab it.

Added on February 10, 2009, 9:10 pmBtw, may I ask it is "advisable" to hold/catch a robos? Its looks very afraid of my hand. I scared it die of heart-attack because the children always catch it.
*
Robo can be tame. But then it take alot of works. Read my previous post. It can be tamed. Provided previously you didn't stress/shocked your hamster greatly. Once robo is 'super shocked", it still won't bite but then you will never hand the chance to tame then. Is almost impossible.
