Look on the bright side, under normal circumstances they may never give you such a high limit, say you place RM200K with HSBC and get only RM40K limit, might as well get a card with RM200K limit with PBB which you can then use to apply another card one year down the road  tongue.gif
*
Still prefer applying without place any FD.
I did hav cc with very high CL but my salary not go thru the bank.
Oso I dun hav any loan or FD with them.
PBB is the only bank rejected my cc application in my life. rclxub.gif

My friend told me PBB is usually very strict in approving cc, loans etc compare to other banks. But surprisingly, when I started applying cc 3 yrs ago, PBB is the first bank to approve my application whereas mbf & Ambank rejected my application. PBB is my 1st cc, but i have cancelled it in 2007. I gues it is because I have car loan with them and I deposit $$ in my PBB saving to pay for UTAR fees.

Hi zenwell,
All issuer hav rights to denied/reject any cc application without assigning any reason.(Although applicant's are qualify)
I agreed what ur friend told u, PBB is very strict in approving cc.
I oso get this info from lots of people.

Most banks require RM5K as initial/minimum FD. Their ratio is 1:1 (e.g. FD is 10K, you'll get gold card with 10K CL or FD is 20K, you'll get platinum with 20K CL).
It depends how much CL you like. If you want higher CL, put it more money smile.gif
Advantage is you get the card you like with CL amount you prefer in easy way and most important, you'll have better interest rate than normal savings account.
Disadvantage is you can't withdraw unless you want to give up your credit card. (In case some FD acct holders need their cash).

FD to get a card (secured card) is quite useful (or only want to go) for some:
For me, it's the only way to go.
I have FD with PBB as investment (3.70 per year is the FD interest I'll earn and its auto-renewed for 7 years). I also requested for card after I FD'ed to them in addition to my savings and current accounts with them. They gave me gold card that is valid for 3 years. I have the option to have platinum but I refuse platinum as the features is not what I need. I'm not frequent traveler anyway then the annual fee for plat card is high. I am not big spender/swiper so I don't think I can use the 12 swipes to have the annual fee waived.
I got no payslip and no credit history here in Malaysia (because I've been overseas since young and now that I'm back here in M'sia, all I can do is to time deposit my hard earned money as fixed/time deposit so I don't lose them that quick biggrin.gif ). I have CC issued in the US which is active but most banks here do not recognized credit card issued outside M'sia as supporting documents. Also, having a locally issued credit card is better since I'll be using it here in M'sia (avoid some rates to pay if I will use the U.S. bank issued credit card).

Want to ask, if i work at home and a US company pay me in USD, do i still need to pay tax?

Asked my friend who is an auditor and he said can be categorized as foreign derived income and no need pay tax.

Anyone in the same situation can enlighten me a bit on this?

But recently I notice that banks do not rent booth in shoppings malls anymore, except for Citibank in Giant which only promotes Giant Citibank card or AEON in JJ stores. Last time there used to be a lot... chasing ppl around the mall. Since this yr I hardly see any.  hmm.gif  hmm.gif
*
They are still there but maybe selectively as the hit rate for the malls could be lower. (Everyone just chasing possible applicants but not necessarily can get quality applicants) Not sure which malls are you referring to but I'm referring to just MidValley and 1Utama.

I personally would stay clear of Aeon JJ cc coz of bad experience. Imagine my payment gone missing and when I provide them with proof of payment, they refuse to recognise it. Had to pay again to safeguard my good credit history and I cancelled the card immediately after the payment was received. Heard the same experience with a few of my friends. I don't tolerate bad CS and this one just sets the record for being the worst of them all. shakehead.gif

Huh? is AEON that bad? Wah you have to pay twice! is the amount big? Like that rugi lar. So teruk lar this AEON shakehead.gif shakehead.gif Luckily i never considered their cards b4 tongue.gif

As for the cc booths, I seldom go to those big malls. Last time when I go to JJ, there are like 4 to 5 booths from diff banks promoting their cc. Now I don't see any except AEON. Last month I went to 1U, I only saw 1 OCBC booth in the whole mall.

I think you do not need to wait. From my experience, I have 3 CC approve within the same month.

but now AEON CC got 2% cash rebate for the Jusco purchases, n also dun know how many times of rewards points.

it's going to be more creative. yet the Customer service part, i thinks is handled by the VADS, the outsourced call centre for TM NUt too...

tht's why our hye got the peanut when he complain.

it's advisable to follow hye's advise! else we will be the monkey asking more peanut!

I can get 5% rebate on my Jusco purchases but not using cc lah but a SCB debit card. (No points accumulation but who cares when you can get 5% rebate) I'll refrain myself from talking about this card coz this is a debit card but this is a cc forum. Like I mentioned before, I now use a hybrid cc and debit card combo to achieve best of both worlds and maximise savings whenever possible. Times are bad and can get worse, so better be prepared now.

Well, I didn't know that AEON CC outsources the CS part to VADS. Just to add, I really did overpay AEON CC intentionally to get my account cleared off and now they owe me some money. Not a lot but you can buy yourself 2 drinks @ Starbucks. This story occured quite a while back (Hint: I applied for the AEON card almost as early when the card was initially launched) and I have been regularly on a monthly basis getting my statement from AEON CC despite having my card cancelled off thanks to the "extra" cash that I have with them.

I'm not asking anyone to boycott or avoid AEON cc but just to share my experience. (Thanks vin_ann smile.gif )Anyone who insist on trying the card would have been forewarned about the CS quality for this particular product.

I tried to get the extra cash back by calling the CS, sending a letter and fax over the years to no avail. Guess that cast in stone my opinions about the product and I give up hope on ever getting my money back. (Luckily it is not too much) Too bad coz I had a good initial impression having saw their HQ in Japan before. I really pity those folks who go and apply for this card (maybe they are being conned and will regret this product later) and the AEON agents who desperately tries to market this card.

Any MBB cardholder with supplimentary cards?

I want to ask how the TP is managed. Seperately or combined with the principal card?

Thank you.

As for Putraskyline, the general MBB CS line should able to assist you. Maybe you could call card centre number, 03-7953 8610 (Platinum/Premier) or 03-7953 8600 (General/Gold & Classic).
