1). What makes a guy so into Dota, and what makes a guy addicted to it (assumption)

2). If the girl has a guy who plays Dota, can she tolerate / accept / willing to go with the flow / add anything here that shows either she support or hate her bf play Dota.

1. Kiasu mentality. His friends play DOTA, he also wants to play DOTA (whether he like it or not), if not he'll feel left out from the group.

2. Most of my friends who play DOTA are single, no offence yah......so I really dunno.

Dota is some sort like Counter Strike during my time.
I never addicted to those game, so no gf.
Those guy who plays like expert, quite a number of fans.

I believe most of fans are guys and most of female dota players are just accompany their Bf only.Most of girls don't like their bf addicted in online games is because most of games rather spend more time on games.

I not here to insult dota or online gamers even myself is a gamer but.... ( just my personal opinion ) I feel that most of them will tell you that they're updated in virtual world but the fact i feel they're only updated in games' world.

It is hard to explain why most of girls hate bf addicted to online games.Just ask yourself 1 question assumed that you're someone's GF and people ask your bf what you do always? ( If you're a gamer )

personaly im dota player. been to tournament, team play etc... other than dota player, i used to be RO player, RYL2 player, wow player. etc etc. and yes im gamer. hard core? hmm... mayb, not as hard core as last time. working now. and actually not really playing dota much now. playing warhammer online now.

personally i think this is very naive/childish thinking. what makes u think dota is for kids? what is the diff of GTA and dota? to me, both are game. u might say game play is diff yada yada yada... but til the end? they both are falls into "entertainment" catogery. it is just matter of u preffer GTA over dota so u say dota is for kid and GTA is not? both are for entertainment and for pleasure/happiness/kill time. at least some top rank dota player able earn money thru dota. win tourney get 60k? 100k? 2nd- personally i think dota is addictive. yes. but strong will of self control can overcome it. and with good communication between couple can really helps. tolerant with each others. i dono bout others. so take me as example... yea, my gf do complain about me. mainly coz i always sleep late which not good for my health. not for neglact her, i nvr neglact her. but she also know i suka game giler 1. =.= so she sometimes complain a bit a bit here and there. then i also just try not to sleep too late for game. something like tat ba la. i dono how others couple situation.

3rd- not only guy are addicted to dota. some gurls also addicted to dota. sometimes i go ftz cyber cafe see see.. or play play... i always notice there are 2-3 gurls that dam familiar. coz they always go ftz also. and they can play from morning till night. =.=' power than me. lol. with their friends... whether bf or not i dono... also 1 gurl i know she dota giler also 1. even see her yell (not dam loud tat type) at team mate at ftz before. lol. used to be leader in dono wat dota team. @.@ i got 1 female friend which quite good skill in dota too. lol. always play with her. but this friend of mine not addicted 1 la.

personally i felt dota is just a game. just like an item. whether u take it or u leave it. for guys who addicted to dota sampai neglact their gf. i dono la... but personally i got gf and i play dota, now warhammer. me and my gf still doing fine. and i got quite some friend who got gf and main dota 1, they seems doing very fine too, whether their gf play dota or not.

so i would say dota may b addictive, but whether to get addicted or not is still on those players hand. cant really blame dota. if this world got no dota, maybe all guy will addicted to GTA which output the same result. i dono man. lol

I played dota and my gf never stop from playing cause she's respect me and gave me some freedom time. And erm...her bro plays also...So basically I agree with core- on his essay really up to the guys to think whether playing online game more than the gf is worth it or not.

3 years ago i used to be dota player when version 5 series popular but after 6 came out all playing 6 version i stop play aredi summore after form 5 aredi hav to get myself a job/finding GF/new life dun wan waste time/money/concentration on dota hav enuff fun off it aredi

Once I saw a guy..he was pawned by his opponent in dota..then he started to show black face to his gf who sit beside him, playing all those MSN, facebook-ing, friendster-ing (which all these can be done at home).

But personally, I like girl who support guy to play dota. Just like guy also accompany girl go for shopping... Whether will get addicted to gaming or not, it is subject to person. Most important, is the tolerance and understanding between the couple.

My bf does play dota.
Every time he wanna pawn a hero, here comes my skills...
kuci-kuci him, touch touch or raba raba him, purposely ask him some stupid question, purposely take things from the other side in front of his screens, give him a cup of water and force him to drink, etc...

I've seen many who bring their gf to cc and i think that of kinda torture. I mean, even I do get bored stiff standing and staring at somebody playing games on hours on end. Thus dota players should learn to balance their time.

haha guys are just guys, they like easy to learn violent games, but not me =X , i dota but not addicted to it , once a week is sufficient if boring...

One of the reason might be they're not confident with them self in the virtual world.Do you heard before "we can do anything we not able to do in real life in games"? Since they thought they hardly to success in virtual world so that they find another place to prove that they're GOOD. So after a period of time , they're automatically addicted to games.This is Why people always thought Dota is for kids.

I like outdoor game. I play football, tennis, squash, basketball, badminton every week. But nothing can be compare to the fun of Dota game.

Dota is my favourite past-time. I'm the usm engineering campus tournament champion. haha.. I'm also the runner up for FIFA 06, and Tekkan 4 championship.. Everynite gotta play at least 2match before sleep.. sometimes friday will play till 7am. (Our campus is the oni campus in Malaysia with LAN) yea.. Like a big cc.. CS, DOta all nite long.

Dota wont affect study 1 la.. It is all comes back to your own determination to score in our exam.. Im doing well in exam though..

ah... miss my old times at home town when playing outdoor game. kl hardly play outdoor game now coz no one ajak me. most friends not staying around me.

playing dota is fine. but i dun find guys that goes to cc to play dota for hours while their gf stands watching is in the least bit cool..............

i nvr see any guy will play dota for hours letting gf stand there watch...
most guys they play dota with gf running another pc beside them (either dota or online).
some gf will just watch their bf play without using any pc, but usually they are sitting though
seen 1 time, the gf no place sit. cc full. she sit on her bf lap. @.@ then she press hotkey for bf and bf clicking mouse. play until dam susah but looks sweet. hahaha...

I'm not here to insult gamer but just my 2 cent FOR THINKING OF BEING A PROFESSIONAL GAMER IS GOOD.
I agreed that is very good for got paid for doing what you like. On the other hand ,i also agreed that EVERY JOB also got the best. I believe KS team that you mentioned is the best team in dota in malaysia so that they deserve to have 2k and 2k.

The point is if got 100,000 dota player and only the 1st the best deserve to have few thousand salary per month.Then others??Since you guys said games can get money, why not much people choose this road?or play a better game like badminton to earn more?because famous in malaysia.

So why people rather choose to be an accountant, admin clerk, hawker, engineer,and even promoter ?Is that really they like to be??NO.But is reality force them.Please be mature

I played dota before....not my type. I prefer shooting/action games.

but im just curious what makes u think badminton earn more than game? chong wei should b top in msia ady. he is getting rm2k-3k from what i watch his interview. which is similar to ks i think. and dota competition i believe is much more compare to badminton competition.

but for what u said. u got the point. not everyone can work as gamer. only minor people from the community able to do so. but isnt it just exactly like a lot people love to play basketball, love to play football. but they cant get to be basketball/football player as their career? which seems to able to apply into game?? though no doubt, game are dam addictive and wont get tired as fast as playing sport. coz sport burn ur physical strength where game burn ur mental strength. tats why u see a lot gamer can play all day long which some of u called no life, and gamers said "this is gamer life". no comment on that.

when comes to think about future career. by common sense, no one will keep aim for being a paid gamer for their whole life when they know their skill will nvr reach the international stage. even u see someone who dam giler with game. always game, day game night game. by the time he reach age 22-25, i believe he will start to think and change and find some job. like u said, reality force. unless he is hell rich fellow with no brain. which is rare case i believe. but as being matured to think and notice this or not is pretty much depends on each individual. u cant expect everyone the same. but i believe time will change them.

huge number of hard care gamer are from college/uni student. why? coz they got the time to play compare to those working 1. but why they study in 1st place? hav u thought of that? so lets say the firgure u gave (which i don think so much in msia)... 100,000 dota player. in ur opinion... how many % of them really go think they wan to take dota as their future career??? i would say the most 5% like i said, just like sport. just that they don feel tired yet they love it so they keep continue it. simple as that. hmm... 5% = 5000 =.='' wtf? maybe 0.1% ba la. =.='''

hmm... but u will be surprise how many working adult are still giler dota, but they aint aim dota for their career. but for the fun of it.
