You can't really compare japanese game with games that we are currently playing. Japanese games always include 1 very important thing: A very proper written story line. Japanese never fails to create fantasy story, and I'd recommend japanese games as learning because it is really something to learn from.

But some people here pointed to "online game" or DotA, how much we could actually learn from it? I really doubt. English? What? Pwned is not an english word; it makes the community fall into something that doesn't really exist in English itself. It was created only on PC. You don't see your boss(corporate world) tells you "Hey you've been pwned; so now f***ing leave before my killing spree". Oh well.

Believe it or not, me and a bunch of friends have got our English significantly improved ever since we started to play MUD game (text based game) when we were form 1. One of them was at the failing level where everyone else (mostly foreigners) in the game would go super LOL as he spoke in the game. After playing that game for about one year, not only did he improve his English from failing to scoring A's consistently, we've also got to improve our typing speed to a nice level which is obviously useful when it comes to doing any computer based assignments/projects. I'd believe if you tell me it's bullshit that you can improve your Maths by playing DOTA but it is 100% possible that one who is weak at English can actually improve the language in an easier way when it happens to be the right game.

Ash we can just ignore him as his either refuses to acknowledge the truth or just spamming here for the pleasure of irritating us. So the more we react to him the more these kinda spams will be posted.

yea... if really talking about improving language...
only some certain right game will helps.
others? might helps, for very very very very minor.
dota helps on some certain VERY VERY minor vocab. but the main problem is who will be the one search into dictionary for those words??
personally i don search over those word in dota too. who will anyway? but experience before that i read those word from some other place, then i goes "ooo... this word is really a proper english word. hmm... yea kinda suit for the dota skill name".  LOL!!!

Dota is meant to make people frustrated and release your anger on some younger kids.
Its just a pure waste of time.
Its neither educational nor enjoyable, how do you find things that irritate people enjoyable, just look at the amount of cursing and swearing from dotards in Cyber Cafes around Malaysia.

If you want to be pro, u need to specialise in ONE game only. Some ppl choose to specialise in CS, but for me i just want to concentrate on dota only. Look at the pros in WCG, they only practice on one game.

If you play all types of game... In the end you are not good at any game...

Btw ive had a try on dota and its a pretty cute game, wouldnt really call it addictive, i guess i never played it competitively or had guy friends to play with.

WoW, pretty interesting but i quit coz busy that period. still got 1 piece wow reload card with me.
warhammer playing now. also the reason i don really play dota now. (pay jo wo =.=) but might quit, content too little. best part is all about whacking player which suits me. but whack player since lvl 1 til now kind of bored. hope they improve and giv more content else i might quit once i reach max lvl...

u and i are not much diff actually. from what i read u said, u play games too. not limited to 1 game. but many games. test game play, see graphic, etc etc. we are pretty similar.

Let's back to topic.
And i think the time chosen to play dota is very important. So, it will be fair for your girl friend. Since every round will take up almost one hour. And i totally hate leaver and afk'er in game. So, choose a time to play that u can give fair to both opponents and your girlfriend.
