5C is a lot. Can post the setup? Blowing bottom to up or from side?
*
i tried both directions, the results were same. blush.gif
but when it was blowing from side, the motherboard's temperature would be lower a bit.

Basically the difference was removing the plastic cover? I'm using a CM690 with a fan (well... slow fan...) and if open up the plastic maybe can get better temp? biggrin.gif

i dun think by open the plastic cover, the temperature would be better.
the fan i am using is from AllnGap, a Sanyo Denki at 7v.
is your fan a coolermaster fan?

haha, non-reference-clock-speed-4870-I vs non-reference-clock-speed-4870-II
however, non-reference-clock-speed-4870-I has onli a reference cooler while non-reference-clock-speed-4870-II has a 2 fans cooler. rclxms.gif

Celciuz, I did some mods of my own

user posted image

And I ran Video Card Stability Test for 831 minutes. Full load stayed at 65-66C.

Idle.... not very impressive maybe cause I did something extra; I removed the heatsink of my 4850 GS and applied new thermal paste; Tuniq TX-2. I think upon mounting it back on, I screwed up by moving the heatsink abit too much. Smudged the thermal paste maybe.

Idles at 50 degrees after leaving my comp more than 12 hours on. I'm expecting a significant lower temp but mehhhh. Will try again next time.

Edited: Fan speed 60%

desmond1310, hot ambient? idling at 50c seems a bit high for the 4850GS especially on 60% fan speed. Or you didn't mount back properly ka @@?
