Celciuz, I did some mods of my own

user posted image

And I ran Video Card Stability Test for 831 minutes. Full load stayed at 65-66C.

Idle.... not very impressive maybe cause I did something extra; I removed the heatsink of my 4850 GS and applied new thermal paste; Tuniq TX-2. I think upon mounting it back on, I screwed up by moving the heatsink abit too much. Smudged the thermal paste maybe.

Idles at 50 degrees after leaving my comp more than 12 hours on. I'm expecting a significant lower temp but mehhhh. Will try again next time.

Edited: Fan speed 60%

desmond1310, hot ambient? idling at 50c seems a bit high for the 4850GS especially on 60% fan speed. Or you didn't mount back properly ka @@?
*
Thermal paste pasal kot. Upon removing the heatsink for the first time, the original thermal paste is GLUED to the heatsink. Took some force to remove it. Might've smudged it badly when I was putting back on.

Last time, before I did these mods, idle temps reach 47C under 60%.

Hot ambient....... I feel my upstairs hall is cool though, with windows closed and fan on that is.

I'm still amazed at yours la; idles so low. Where are you staying?

Nothing wrong with the Vantec. I was actually planning to get Vantec 550W but I can't find any review about it and no know in LYN give me any feedback about this PSU, so I just skip it.

To me it seems like a solid PSU with a very affordable price. And yeah, I love the blue sleeve cables too. smile.gif

biggrin.gif I chose it because of its price. Didn't think about finding a review at all :\

Anyone using CCC 8.11 now? My Windows Vista Ultimate is screwed up because of that. Everytime I boot up now, I can't see the Welcome screen. Upon going to desktop, I can't see my taskbar at all. Right clicking pops out but the options selected doesn't work. Nothing works!!!!!

HELP!

Yes and also I went into Safe Boot too to use Driver Cleaner and CCleaner to clean up the remaining mess. I installed 8.11 twice and the same problem happened. I'm gonna try 8.10 again. Thanks for the reply.

Added on November 14, 2008, 12:38 pmNow 8.10 too gives me the same problem as 8.11. What is going on? I didn't the proper procedure properly and everything is screwed. Help please.

I have this problem before, what i did was uninstall the 8.11 completely, then install 8.8 then install 8.10. It works for me  but i donk know whether it work for you, you can try it before reinstall the window.
*
Ooo thanks so much for sharing! I'll try your way soon!

QUOTE(cyew86 @ Nov 14 2008, 04:01 PM)
maybe the way i installed the drivers was not correct
i uninstalled the 8.10 at first, restart, then ran drivers sweeper, then reinstall 8.11, then the problem came. could not even reinstall 8.10 back doh.gif
but somehow after i restarted my machine again, the system was able to find HD4670 drivers and installed it (8.10 version),
then just to play it safe, i just run 8.11 straight without uninstalling the old drivers, and it works
*
I don't quite understand the bolded line. You could not reinstall 8.10, but you managed to install 8.10?

I tried just now, but.. there wasn't a restart prompt at all. After that I restarted it manually but there's still no CCC when I right click.

Guys, here's some update about the HIS 4830 I'm using on my bro's comp. Driver I'm using now is CCC 8.10. It seems it is not stable; it crashes each time I play Dawn of War - Dark Crusade. 5-7 mins into the game and it crashes.

I used GPUZ and its sensors can't give me any reading.

I doubt its GC problem now.. I believe its CCC problem. When is CCC 8.12 estimated to be released?

I'll conduct further research later la as I will not be at home till this Sunday.
