HIS is probably trying to push their card to beat the Golden Samples tongue.gif. Since their 4850 clock wasn't up to par against the 4850 GS on the core speed. 685 versus 700.

Check this out, HIS claims that ICEQ4 beats 3rd party coolers in closed case environment. ._.

I personally think the cooler which blow to the side (IceQ4) is not that efficient compare to those blow both side (4850GS). Any thought?

Hard to say, but anyone with both cards can try it out? rclxms.gif Though, make sure it isn't a one sided review notworthy.gif

Normal clock means reference card? In that case, pick the cheapest or the longest warranty. They are all the same for reference cards.

But IMO you should go for those with their own cooling system, 4800 series is not exactly a very cool running card.

What is the spec of the HIS 4870 Turbo? OC-ed? or reference? I surfed around and saw the picture, seems to be running on a reference cooler instead of the ICEQ4.

i detached the cover of my 4850GS, then added a 12CM fan (not the kind of cooler master silent fan) blowing directly to it, idle temperature at around 46C.
in contrast to covered, about 5C lesser...
i think the cover is just for "decoration"...
btw, there is no ramsink and heatsink to cool power components for GS.

5C is a lot. Can post the setup? Blowing bottom to up or from side?

Basically the difference was removing the plastic cover? I'm using a CM690 with a fan (well... slow fan...) and if open up the plastic maybe can get better temp? biggrin.gif

desmond1310, hot ambient? idling at 50c seems a bit high for the 4850GS especially on 60% fan speed. Or you didn't mount back properly ka @@?

39c idle and 57c load. What kinda ambient? That is like rising 18c above idle.. I think even 4850GS can do that lar tongue.gif. My card load at 63C on a hot afternoon without aircond turned on. (55% fan speed).

Yea, 61c load is alright IMO. Compared to reaching 80C for the reference cards lol.

Colorful quad heatpipe looks similiar to the MSI's.

No idea, can't find any specification on that card. Though from the looks of it, should be OC-ed and looks like the bigger brother of the dual pipe model.

http://en.hardspell.com/doc/showcont.asp?news_id=3818

Since it has 3phase power, dual BIOS and that heatsink is a Zalman VF1050 shocking.gif

4670 uses very low power actually. My friend's PSU got the indicator to show how much wattage used, and for 4850GS, only uses about 200+W when playing Crysis. If 4850 only uses that little, then 4670 should be lesser lo.

Great, can't find the model on CM website. It is a Cooler Master Real Power 450W

http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=238&num=1

The PSU comes with a meter to show wattage used.
