a nice recurring question. what do you mean by best? highest clock speed? highest memory speed? the coldest? the best performance per ringgit?
i dun think there is a single-best-all-rounder.

QUOTE(lotiman2003 @ Sep 25 2008, 06:03 PM) I personally think the cooler which blow to the side (IceQ4) is not that efficient compare to those blow both side (4850GS). Any thought? i detached the cover of my 4850GS, then added a 12CM fan (not the kind of cooler master silent fan) blowing directly to it, idle temperature at around 46C.in contrast to covered, about 5C lesser... i think the cover is just for "decoration"... btw, there is no ramsink and heatsink to cool power components for GS. QUOTE(celciuz @ Sep 25 2008, 10:25 PM) Basically the difference was removing the plastic cover? I'm using a CM690 with a fan (well... slow fan...) and if open up the plastic maybe can get better temp? i dun think by open the plastic cover, the temperature would be better.the fan i am using is from AllnGap, a Sanyo Denki at 7v. is your fan a coolermaster fan? |

haha, non-reference-clock-speed-4870-I vs non-reference-clock-speed-4870-II
however, non-reference-clock-speed-4870-I has onli a reference cooler while non-reference-clock-speed-4870-II has a 2 fans cooler. |

QUOTE(tech3910 @ Sep 28 2008, 11:16 PM) remember the price of GTX 260/280 wen launch? nvidia is try to gain back the money by offering its products at prices lower than the costs.den if drop few hundred USD after just few weeks............... dis shows just how much if nvidia ripping off those early bird buyers........... it is forced to do so, there won't be a price cut for nvidia, if there is no ati 4000 series. |

For those who are having doubts of whether HIS is producing an IceQ 4870 or not, take a look at here:

QUOTE(spideysam @ Sep 30 2008, 08:37 AM) if you wana buy a system unit after chinese new year, i think it is too soon to survey for prices, coz the prices drop frequently.somore, by that time, i guess a new generation of graphics card will be here already, who knows? for processor and mobo, nahelem is the next thing to look for, no price yet though... |

my rig? only gc, psu and casing worth some money...
other components are 2 years old, not much value for selling. be patience and wait for nahelem, until after cny, the price should be affordable. This post has been edited by iostream: Sep 30 2008, 09:24 AM |

1 terabyte is quite affordable now. the fastest hdd is ssd now, but, it is almost beyond the reach of normal consumers.
for the comparison of nvidia vs ati, please google it and see the performance. or just dig out this thread, or click on netraid's links. This post has been edited by iostream: Sep 30 2008, 09:33 AM |

QUOTE(viperiii @ Oct 1 2008, 06:42 PM) the 1st thing is my consideration when i buy the graphic card will be: you have a lot of things, rather than 1st thing, haha! just kidding... 1. HDMI port available. (if possible get a display port graphic card) 2. ultra fast graphic memory. 3. durable and solid built. 4. special cooling method. 5. price + performance combination. that should be okay with the upcoming 256bits memory powered ATI 4830 card with decent cooling, HDMI port (if possible with display port) price around ~RM500 |
