I NEED TO GET NEW AIRCOND FER TWO ROOMS.
1 Room is 15ft by 20 ft.
Another room is 30 by 30 ft.
THE AIRCONS I LIKE SHUD HAVE STRONGEST FAN BLOWS!    TOO SICK OF AIRCON FAN WHICH HAVE SLOW PROBLEMS.
THE AIRCON I WANT SHUD BE EFFECTIVELY COLD.    NOT INTERESTED IN OTHER FANCY FEATURES WITHOUT GETTING THE COLDNESS RIGHT IN THE FIRST PLACE.
WHICH ONE TO RECOMMEND?

Now we have lg art cool with internal wall piping. got water leak problem and not cold even at 18 degree. service so many times already by dream service.  So must throw away these one and get new aircons.

Looks to me like you need a 1HP and a 2HP unit. Right-sizing your air cond HP is the first step otherwise you will never get cold. A baseline model York should be good enough for you since you don't need any fancy features. Setting at 18oC is also a bad idea as it prevents your compressor from cutting of most of the time. Seriously 24-25oC is good enough if your air cond HP is correct for your room size.

Are your rooms well enough isolated? Door seals, proper windows that isolate from leakage, etc.?

It is possible to build houses where the outside temperature is -5°C and inside it is 18-20... Without a heater. Except for body heat emitted by the inhabitants. That is how good buildings can be isolated. So if your rooms are good enough you don't need to constantly cool it down. It will remain quite cool.

How about Daikin? Only have good experiences with that brand. York didn't impress me that much, though I didn't own one either. But I had experienced a few new ones, and thought they were rather noisy.

Yorks are cheap and cheerful smile.gif
To me they are the baseline for comparison and the preferred brand of installers because they can make money on the spares biggrin.gif
Until the cost of maintenance for R410A comes down, Daikins are preferable for me, especially the R22 inverters.

Money on spares? Are they not reliable?

To be honest I just go to the cheapest shop I can find. Haven't had a problem so far. Paid around 1150 for the 1 HP Daikin with inverter, without installation.

Hi Guys,

Do you know anyone that buys defective aircon unit (Pensonic 1.0HP)?
Planning to replace it with York 1.0HP instead. If there's any seller here, please quote me on this. Thank you.

Anyone bought their airconds from shops like Courts or Harvey Norman before? How's your experience with the package + pricing? Asking because the Star newspaper is showing their adverts on the airconds today.

- Air conditioner will be turn on every night from 9 pm to 5 am on the next morning (except when it is raining outside)

- Occasionally, during afternoon nap (but not more than two hours, usually about 1 hour ++ only) - Only when I feel that the heat is really unbearable

- Air conditioner will be placed on my bedroom. Just a small bedroom which I think 1HP should be enough . Average insulation, no direct sunny.

Based on the above situation, do you think Inverter will justify for my usage style? Or else I'll just wasting my hard earned cash and take conventional air conditioner only instead of inverter model?

I've made my decision to take Panasonic air conditioner (1HP) model but yeah, Inverter or non inverter is the main dilemma now... The price differences seems to be quiet a lot...

Panasonic Non-Inverter (But have Econavi which according to Pana website can also saves electricity) - Claimed to have 5 energy star rating from Malaysian Energy Commision

Panasonic Inverter + Econavi - Also claimed to have 5 star energy rating from Malaysian Energy Commision. But according to sales guy, Inverter model will require more 'special' care during installation as well as different type of 'gas' or refrigant (R410 if I'm not mistaken) - hence that's why installation charge was RM50 more than standard model.

Oh before I forgot, do you think buying air conditioner from Seng heng is okay? This is my first time buying air conditioner from Seng Heng. Usually I'll just buy kitchen appliances like washing machine, rice cooker, chiller etc etc from them. Sales guy said that they will deal with 'external' contractor for installation and I'm afraid that they will be 'ping-pong' situation when something bad happens to my air conditioner.

Please... I do hope that some one can enlighten me for my choice. Inverter or just standard model but with econavi features and Seng Heng or another shop notworthy.gif

I'll buy this new air conditioner tomorrow.

So expensive? Daikin without inverter is around 800, with inverter 1150. Add another 150-200 for installation (for Daikin it is the same regardless of inverter or not.

Also look around, Daikin enjoys a great reputation.

Inverters are most useful in enclosed rooms where the aircon doesn't run full power all the time. At full power there are few if any savings, but if it is on, off, on, off then it saves. And is much more comfortable as the set temperature is better maintained.

Econavi saves energy by letting the temperature raise when no one is in the room for a while, like 30 minutes or so. Then it may rise by one or two degree. That does save energy, but since you are in the room all the time and probably want to keep it cool while sleeping...

Thanks for your feedback kadajawi... smile.gif

Personally I also looking out for Daikin air conditioner. Unfortunately, all of the electrical shops around my residential area didn't offered Daikin air conditioner. sad.gif

I'm living in the quiet 'kampung' area, only York, Acson, Panasonic, Samsung and not-really-well-known-model (like Midea, Mistral, Fujiaire) are available here... rclxub.gif

I see. Not sure then, my experience so far was that those big shops overcharge (Jusco wants 1500 for the Daikin I paid 1150 for...), smaller shops specialized on aircons usually all have Daikin (in the JB area), and they can give good prices. Was usually between 1150 and 1200, so not much difference. Maybe you can go to the Daikin website and see if they list any dealer nearby? Maybe those small shops can order if they don't have ready stock?

I once had to track down an Epson printer that no shop at all seemed to have in Malaysia. In the end Epson's customer support managed to find one shop that did though, which was pretty awesome. Perhaps if everything else fails Daikin can do that for you too...

Btw., Daikin's inverter models ending on DVM have EcoNavi for sure, GVM maybe not on the 1 hp model, however I may simply have screwed up and mistakenly thought the non-inverter one is the inverter one. You won't be able to find a DVM anymore. If you do manage to get the newer GVM, then please let me know if they still have EcoNavi (it's that thing looking like an eye on the right of the unit, next to the LEDs).

Not sure, I thought so, but others say it still has (but they have higher hp ones). But for bedroom usage it's probably not so crucial, unless you tend to forget turning off your aircon.

Actually in the big shops Daikin tends to be more expensive IMHO.
