Hi all, I would like to ask whether all or most of you here are using the aircond for every night or perhaps, every two or three nights?
Due to the some sort of temperature rise nowadays in my home, I really cannot 'tahan' to sleep without turning on my aircond... So now every night, I will turn on the aircond starting from 10 pm until 3am in the morning, which equal about 5 hours per night. Gosh.. I wonder how much my electricity bill will be on June. sweat.gif

So, I want to know the average electricity bills for those who are using aircond for every single night. Last month, the TNB guy didn't come to my home to read the meter, instead they send me the Estimated bills via post which in the sum of RM65. I guess on this June when the TNB guy read the meter and definitely I will see major increase for my electricity bills.... blush.gif

Oh, my aircond brand Acson and with 1 Horse Power... Cool settings with the temperature of 25 degree celcius...

- Air conditioner will be turn on every night from 9 pm to 5 am on the next morning (except when it is raining outside)

- Occasionally, during afternoon nap (but not more than two hours, usually about 1 hour ++ only) - Only when I feel that the heat is really unbearable

- Air conditioner will be placed on my bedroom. Just a small bedroom which I think 1HP should be enough . Average insulation, no direct sunny.

Based on the above situation, do you think Inverter will justify for my usage style? Or else I'll just wasting my hard earned cash and take conventional air conditioner only instead of inverter model?

I've made my decision to take Panasonic air conditioner (1HP) model but yeah, Inverter or non inverter is the main dilemma now... The price differences seems to be quiet a lot...

Panasonic Non-Inverter (But have Econavi which according to Pana website can also saves electricity) - Claimed to have 5 energy star rating from Malaysian Energy Commision

Panasonic Inverter + Econavi - Also claimed to have 5 star energy rating from Malaysian Energy Commision. But according to sales guy, Inverter model will require more 'special' care during installation as well as different type of 'gas' or refrigant (R410 if I'm not mistaken) - hence that's why installation charge was RM50 more than standard model.

Oh before I forgot, do you think buying air conditioner from Seng heng is okay? This is my first time buying air conditioner from Seng Heng. Usually I'll just buy kitchen appliances like washing machine, rice cooker, chiller etc etc from them. Sales guy said that they will deal with 'external' contractor for installation and I'm afraid that they will be 'ping-pong' situation when something bad happens to my air conditioner.

Please... I do hope that some one can enlighten me for my choice. Inverter or just standard model but with econavi features and Seng Heng or another shop notworthy.gif

I'll buy this new air conditioner tomorrow.

So expensive? Daikin without inverter is around 800, with inverter 1150. Add another 150-200 for installation (for Daikin it is the same regardless of inverter or not.

Also look around, Daikin enjoys a great reputation.

Inverters are most useful in enclosed rooms where the aircon doesn't run full power all the time. At full power there are few if any savings, but if it is on, off, on, off then it saves. And is much more comfortable as the set temperature is better maintained.

Econavi saves energy by letting the temperature raise when no one is in the room for a while, like 30 minutes or so. Then it may rise by one or two degree. That does save energy, but since you are in the room all the time and probably want to keep it cool while sleeping...

Thanks for your feedback kadajawi... smile.gif

Personally I also looking out for Daikin air conditioner. Unfortunately, all of the electrical shops around my residential area didn't offered Daikin air conditioner. sad.gif

I'm living in the quiet 'kampung' area, only York, Acson, Panasonic, Samsung and not-really-well-known-model (like Midea, Mistral, Fujiaire) are available here... rclxub.gif

Just installed Panasonic Inverter 1.0HP air conditioner for my bedroom today. RM1400 inclusive installation (air cond unit, RM1200 plus installation charge of RM200 due to Inverter). Obviously I didn't bought the unit from Seng Heng which is really pricey (about RM1600++ inclusive installation). I bought the air conditioner from the shop that sells and specialize for the air conditioner unit only, not retail electrical chain stores. Can 'nego' some more thumbup.gif At first I was hunting for Daikin model, unfortunately they said that it might takes about TWO WEEKS to order from supplier rclxub.gif Daikin unit much more cheaper (less RM100 than Panasonic inverter - the reason why Daikin was way cheaper is due to R22 vs R401 refrigerant applied to the compressor) But I was really impatient to wait for two weeks, then I decided to just take Panasonic Inverter since they got ready stock for that unit.

- The indoor unit seems bigger, like 1.5HP air conditioner albeit it only 1.0HP when compared to my old cheapo Mistral air conditioner.

- Installation process was like a charm. Took about 40 minutes only to dismantle my old air conditioner and replaced it with a new one. Good workmanship and installer told me his 'ups and downs' experience dealing with air conditioner installation for the past 12 years. He seems really experienced and professional installer.

- Inverter unit will costs much more money to maintain. Conventional 1.0HP ~ 1.5HP air conditioner only costs RM80 for the brief maintenance, but Inverter will costs about RM130-RM150 for the maintenance (again, due to R22 vs R401A refrigerant). He said that maintenance need to be done like once a year. Depending on the usage styles. More frequent use, need to service every 6 months.

- According to the installer, there's 'nothing special' about inverter compressor. It just a normal compressor, but with build in 'intelligent' microcomputer board to control their behaviour for not to frequently 'on---off' like conventional air conditioner. Just hope that the microcomputer board will last longer since the costs to replace that tiny unit will be pricey.

- Installer also said that you can really saves using the inverter, but with longer usage like 5 hours++ every time you turned it on.

- Faster cooling as well as quiet compressor and indoor unit noise when compared to my old air conditioner as well as my neighbour compressor unit.

- Strong breeze from the indoor unit albeit fan settings was on medium-low, hence the reason why it cools my room faster. (temp settings: 25 degree celcius)

- I still didn't managed to understand well the functions of those-so-called 'ECONAVI'...

- Overall, for the time being I'm satisfied with my 'investment' with Inverter. I understand now the phrase ' you get what you pay' - RM700 Mistral vs RM1400 Panasonic Inverter. So much different between these two air conditioner. Perhaps it just less than a day.... I just crossed my fingers sweat.gif

no stocck for daikin, but got display unit to view?btw which shop u go to?
*
No stock and display unit as well. They only showed me some sort of in-house catalogue that tells the detail price of all the air conditioner that they sells. It just a small air conditioner shop and when they get order, they will take the unit from their warehouse. Oh, the shop name is Champion Air Conditioner service, situated somewhere in Northern Perak (small 'cowboy' town) - they only got ready stock for the 'common' air conditioner brand like York, Acson, Panasonic, Midea and just to name a few.

just asking,but y u chose daikin?

Because most of the experienced user at forum (M'sia and Sing) are recommending Daikin for their price-to-performance ratio despite of the plain, dull looking compressor and indoor unit. tongue.gif

You sure daikin is cheaper than Panasonic with the same spec?
*
Yes. Daikin inverter air conditioner price is less RM100 than Panasonic Inverter. I paid RM1200 for Panasonic 1.0HP Inverter, but Daikin Inverter is just RM1100. If they got ready stock yesterday, surely I'll grab Daikin rolleyes.gif - Mind you that Daikin Inverter was not on the same spec with Panasonic. Daikin Inverter used conventional R22 refrigerant while Panasonic used new R401A refrigerant.

if i get a r22 gassed air cond now, then when the gas is phased out o get an r410a gassed unit, wud d pipings be used again or need to change?
*
Existing copper piping for R22 cannot be reused with R401A refrigerant. You need to change to new copper piping system which is more thicker and have better insulation to withstand the high pressure of R401A refrigerant.

Thinking to get another air conditioner for my living room...

Got three brands to choose now, either York, Mitsubishi or Daikin.

My living room sizes would be 10x35 (about 350 sq ft) and according to air conditioner calculator, 10,000BTU aka 1.5HP air conditioner will be enough for my living room.

So between those three brand that I've been listed out above, which one are better? Since this is living room and I will rarely use it (perhaps I will only use it every weekends, about 3 hours every session) and it will be placed in the living room, inverter will be out of 'league' now. I don't need all those plasma thingy as well. My target now, just want to feel some sort of cool breeze in my living room. But now extremely cool like air conditioner in my bedroom which is obviously an enclosed place with good ventilation.

Does 1.5HP will be enough to cool down the 350 sq ft (10x35) living room or I need 2.0HP?

Just booked one unit 1.5HP Daikin Non-Inverter from the air conditioner shop near my house. RM1300 with installation. Need to pre-order first. Installation will be done either by Thursday of Friday depending on the stock arrival on the shop.
