Dry mode is mainly use in 4 season country. At certain point of time air is very humid you need to use dry mode. Especially when the area have lots of electrical / electronic items.

Not good for room, it will make the room very dry. Skin will dry, mouth will dry.

dry mode is actually the same as cool mode with one difference: the rotor will run extra slow. this has two effects: a) it makes operation more quiet and mostly b) it will give the air more time with the cooling fins. that way more moisture can be extracted from the air. this will lead to (my house, continous usage - never off) to approx. 10% less humidity in the air than the same temp. setting in cool mode.

this can be good or bad. i dont cool much (28° in almost all rooms) so i tend to have in excess of 65% humidity. using dry mode i can get around 60-65% which is ideal because it a) makes the air feel cooler than the same temp air with a higher humidity (save money) b) less noise c) 65% or less prevents mould and fungus growth and d) air never feels stuffy.

conclusion: all rooms have a/c set to dry 24/7 and create a pleasant environment. but yes, lower settings (probably 24 or so) will yield air that might be too dry. experient and see what suits you best. for me i find that malaysian air is always too humid. i prefer 65% humidity.

weikee,

true. but try 27° dry mode. 27° with 75% humidity i cannot tahan - but 28° with 60% is just nice. feels much lower (maybe like 24°C).

been using samsung and daewoo . So far so good and quiet operation.

hitachi model prone to ic board problem and panasonic rattling problem. york design is outdated and fan very noisy at medium speed.

Hi all, I would like to ask whether all or most of you here are using the aircond for every night or perhaps, every two or three nights?
Due to the some sort of temperature rise nowadays in my home, I really cannot 'tahan' to sleep without turning on my aircond... So now every night, I will turn on the aircond starting from 10 pm until 3am in the morning, which equal about 5 hours per night. Gosh.. I wonder how much my electricity bill will be on June. sweat.gif

So, I want to know the average electricity bills for those who are using aircond for every single night. Last month, the TNB guy didn't come to my home to read the meter, instead they send me the Estimated bills via post which in the sum of RM65. I guess on this June when the TNB guy read the meter and definitely I will see major increase for my electricity bills.... blush.gif

Oh, my aircond brand Acson and with 1 Horse Power... Cool settings with the temperature of 25 degree celcius...

Maybe the shop is not entitled in this rebate program. From what I know, ESH and Jintex can rebate on the spot when you pay.

1.5hp on RM1080...so it normal aircond right not inverter?

i suggest u invest some more money to inverter type of aircond...

my experience..
i use 2 inverter aircond in my home.
one is 1.0hp - RM 1300 -+ (bedroom) and one 1.5HP - RM 1700-+ (living room)

my electricity bill reduce to +-RM35 (per month - includes all other electricity appliances in my house ) compare to before using tht inverter aircond +-Rm40 per month

i would say using inverter aircond is much more saving than use the ceiling fan alone..

fyi these are electricity appliances on my home are :

1. 1 Dekstop Computer (24/7 online), 1 netbook and 1 notebook.
2. 1 refrigerator (SHARP) (24/7 on) - 5 star rating on electricity saving
3. 1 washing machine (LG) - normal auto washing machine
4. 1 rice cooker (panasonic)
5. 1 42 Inch LED LCD TV (LG) - for sound i use TV speaker only laugh.gif
6. Astro Decoder
7. TM Wifi Modem/router (24/7 online)
8. 1 1.0HP Panasonic Inverter Aircond (bedroom - usually will be switch on till the morning) - 5 star rating on electricity saving
QUOTE
CS-S10NKH (CU-S10NKH) ~ 1.0HP

9. 1 1.5HP Panasonic Inverter Aircond (living room) - 5 star rating on electricity saving
QUOTE
CS-S13NKH (CU-S13NKH) ~ 1.5HP

10. 1 stand FAN (i place it on my computer room - becoz i dont place aircond in tht room since the room ceiling quite high and have windows..
11. 1400watt vacuum cleaner (once every 2 weeks)
12. iron (once a week - my wife iron the clothes 1 time a week - bundle clothes)
13. electric kettle (everyday becouse me, my wife and my son drink water everyday like normal human being laugh.gif )

so far...it is really obvious about the comparison using inverter and non inverter aircond...(my parent house use normal aircond which is every month the electricity bill quite high)

indeed the price for non converter aircond is more cheap (can save up to RM600-RM1000) but using inverter aircond tht amount can be reached 1-2 years after u using the inverter aircond and reduce ur monthly electricity bill too..

Added on June 3, 2012, 10:33 amdo u hv inverter aircond..?

if u have it, try turn off ur main power while ur inverter aircond in swicth ON state..

the true inverter aircond will not swicth OFF immediately after the main power break down or black out becouse inverter aircond having a system like electricity charging system (happen to me once and that prove my friend info about inverter electricity appliance ) - i myself not very familiar with it coz i am from IT related studies...i get the info from my electric engineering friend...

Added on June 3, 2012, 10:33 am+ i use the eco navi system that available on my panasonic inverter aircond..
and the mechanic advise me to clean up the air filter on the aircond once every a month

you mean you wan to take out the whole fanblade out to clean??

if you manage to open up the casing and at least have some exposure of the fan blade(i mean from 1 end to the other have no obstacle) , then just take your vacuum cleaner and brush and vacuum all the dirt out of the fan blades. then buy those aircon coil cleaner and spray spray on ur coil and take a brush to brush it. then spray more.

Just did mine last week. before diy clean i have to put 22 celcius. After clean, i put 25 celcius and still colder than before i clean it. hehehe  laugh.gif
but must do very carefully. Dont spoilt ur fan blade/fin. once 1 of the fin broke then u will be in trouble. it will be very noisy becos not balance liao.

I've actually been cleaning the fan blade in the most unconventional way but it's not as good as I have wanted it to be so I'm just going to use a pressure spray into it (just the simple 2L bottle type to loosen dirt on the blades). As for the coils I have no problems cleaning those, gotta beware of some of the foamy type of coil cleaners though because I heard some end up rusting the coils. I've been trying to avoid buying the aircon cleaner sprays but I guess I'll get some soon as well hehe. An actual pressure washer/pressure steamer works quite well (if you don't go overboard of course and have big bags below to catch all the water) in fact just a tiny bit of pressure is needed if anything. I'm not doing that though because mine is broken and it was a bit too powerful + I can imagine the mess I would make biggrin.gif

Thanks for the advice btw! I tried the vacuum thing before with a toothbrush but it was really backbreaking and didn't get all of the harder dust lol. My fan blade is blocked mostly by the fins and the air flow plastic bar which I cannot remove so it's quite hard.

diadokmai, yes normal york aircond 1hp is rm750 and 1.5hp is rm1080, also sharp inverter is rm1350. all before installation.
cheapest 1hp inverter is rm990*
ifi used inverter it will be more expensive by rm1350

I am going to use inverter pipe all but not all inverter a/c and my breakdown is like this :
master room - 1.5hp (sharp inverter every used)
room 1&2 - york 1 hp (hardly used)
guess room - york 1 hp (hardly used)
dining and hall york 1.5hp (hardly used)

I'm planning to fix 2 airconds in my master bedroom and another bedroom. Usage won't be high, only on very hot nights or if I have guests coming over. I'm staying in a service apartment so the electricity rate is slightly higher, compared to landed property or non service apartments. Based on this, is it recommended to get inverter airconds or normal ones are good enough since frequency of usage isn't every day?

I plan to go with Panasonic brand. How much roughly is the current price for normal and inverter aircond + installations?

third bedroom 1.0 Hisense (very cheap but the quality is questionable ???)
living room 2.0 LG

monthly electricity RM150++ (include all other home appliance)

but..i think u can tke some method just like rushoe done.

After last cleaning like 1 months ago, my fan blade still clean. hehe if lasttime, already can see some dust built up. laugh.gif
