Always follow the guideline recommendation to change your filter. POE still can lar, but not POU, overdue too long could cause your water even worst.

If you want to have alternative filter, consider Culligan EZ-4 water filter. My friend is selling it on Lelong.

His site is here

Culligan EZ-4Lelong Site

I personally use it for my mother in Melaka and also my wife family in her hometown.

I consider this Culligan EZ-4 a worthy contender. Best of all the price is affordable and it is NSF 42 & 53 certified. I am using it myself. Can get from Amazon.com.

You should proposed this to our ex-Health Minister Datuk Liow, if not current Health Minister Datuk Dr. S. Subramaniam. So every Malaysian should enjoy this.

What is your monthly water usage? I change my first one cartridge when close to 24 months of usage. We don't use that much water,  8-9m3 per month, and always FOC. Thanks to the Selangor current Government (PKR smile.gif )

I change mine because is long overdue, water pressure still good. You mileage may varied depend your monthly usage and water condition.

Ozak, last i checked the 3M AP902 replacement cartridge price at Perfect Living Exhibition last month was RM450 (List Price).
If want cheaper alternative yet serve the same purpose, perhaps this one ? RM450 only.

For POE, this backwash-able filter system is value for money. RM450 (NW1 cartridge) only. Installation is RM150.
Replacement cartridge got 2 types: NW1 RM40 and NW3 (Pleated) RM80

For POE water filter, I use 2 units cheapo RM25 AEON Big standard transparent 10" water filter housing, first filter I use the easily available 5 micron PP sediment filter cartridge and second filter use 1 micron cartridge. The RM3.00 1 micron cartridge can get from The Living Depost, right in front of AEON Big Puchong Utama. So far, water quality in my area is quite clean and I only need to change the cartridge every 3 to 4 months. Some ppl may have the opinion that this type of POE sediment pre-filter is inconvenientand need to change cartridge very often though it is cheap and low maintenance, but to handyman ppl like you it's kacang la. After all, frequent replacement of cartridge also means you get rid of harmful bacterial stuck at the cartridge more often.

I am getting a doulton filter replacement cartridge but the more expensive variety (the ultracarb) but I heard rumors that fake filters are being sold around town.

How do I distinguish fakes and real ones ?
