some bacteria unable to be filtered by 0.5 micron thats why 3M only stated 99.5% while Espring 99.9%. look at the arrow of Bacteria which smallest up to 0.2 micron.

The eSpring™ System uses a patented, multi-stage carbon block that:
- Reduces chlorine taste and odor
- Traps particulates to boost water clarity
- Effectively reduces over 140 possible health-effect contaminants

AMWAY’s patented carbon block filter:
- Traps particulates 300% smaller than the width of a human hair
- Treats up to 5,000 liters (1,320 gallons) of water in one year – enough for an average family of six
- Allows beneficial minerals like calcium, magnesium and tooth-decay-fighting fluoride to pass through the carbon block filter and remain in the water.

Well, the 99.99% should be referring to the UV bulb in the eSpring.

Amway, Elken, Diamond, Coway, (and 3M in this thread)... All also said theirs are the best. From end user, which one lowest cost and safe to drink?

Added on October 24, 2012, 4:59 pmAnd Aquasona... so many brands out there!

I'm currently interested to buy the Coway Apollo Outdoor Filter (Rm2700) + the Water Purifier Petit CHP-06D (RM3400).

so you not renting it lar? waived registration and installation?

QUOTE
Free maintenance for 1 year, rm500 yearly maintenance for the 2nd year & above.

rm500 yearly maintenance for 2nd year & above is for one product or both?

QUOTE
Any users have used Coway products before? How's the performance? Water is really filtered well?

Coway are using RO water filtration technology. Google for pros and cons.

QUOTE
Spoke to one of the seller here. I may need to get an additional water pump to boost my water pressure due to low water pressure caused by using the filters.

If you do not plan to buy outdoor filter, so may not need to worry about the water pump. where you stay at anyway?

The outdoor filter is not rentable. But the Petit water filter is.
If continue renting until 5 years, the filter will be handovered to owner automatically.

Oh yeah, good question on the RM500 maintenance fee. I will ask the seller again. Didn't thought about that (single or both products)
My new house in Changloon, kedah. My friends who stayed there told me the main water supply quality is quite bad, pretty much like in Perlis where the water contained some limestone (batu kapur) residues (main water supply came from Timah Tasoh dam).

If RO is not good, then what type of water filter I should get?
*
What water purifier that u currently using right now? budget of yours and how many people stay in your new house?

Wow Coway prices have certainly gone up..and also need to ask what does the maintenance include?

Have seen cases where user pays for the package only to be told at a later date (during servicing) that certain parts faulty/need replacement and not covered within the service agreement. (applicable for quite a number of brands in market).

Now water filters also like telco..all must sign up for long plans  . Imagine you drink for 3 months then don't like it... sad.gif

At least telco gives discount on the phones and plans lol
*
Hmm... didn't notice that but they seems to be often doing promotion on festival season...
so if really dont like it, that is why must choose wise before purchase, all of them come with pros and cons...
always look for water purifier come with warranty and NSF + WQA certified... most important is the filtration performance!

To choose a right Water Treatment System should look for the NSF certified claims/documentation on their product... Have u ask them for the documentation?

I think this should be the latest November news:
http://blogs.wsj.com/deals/2012/11/08/sout...o-mbk-partners/
So in the future might have some changes in Coway management.

As reference, we as consumers always can check for NSF report on the internet:
http://www.nsf.org/Certified/DWTU/
So sometime we might just find their product only component certified or sometime you can't even find their product name because they are OEM.

QUOTE(FreddieKam @ Nov 22 2012, 11:22 AM)
hi all

ive been using my amway espring for almost a year now..do i need to change the filter cartridge?
im getting different opinions bout it..
1. some say (and according to the manual) - we need to change 5k litres or 1 year which ever comes first.
2. others say, change when you hear the BEEP and when it shows "replace cartridge"

jus wondering which is right n wrong, as u know, its RM500 per cartridge, i know, we are talking bout water, an important source of our lives but since i dont really use it as im away from home most of the time..tat means i diffinitely use less than 5k litres so far.

so, does the beep sound and warning "replace cartridge" is triggered by TIME (i.e., every year on the same date?) OR
is it triggered after we use 5k litres....?

hope u can help me !!! thanks!
*
Hi Freddie,

The lifespan of the eSpring cartridge lasts up to 5,000 litres or 1yrs, whichever comes first. To maintain the performance claimed and documented by Amway, the cartridge must be changed every year regardless of the amount of water treated.

Example:

Conclusion: If you see "Replace Cartridge", call your Amway distributor and tell him/her.
Advice: if you do not often at home using it, like always been outstation/oversea or something, always remember once you come back, please let your eSpring water filter out for few minutes before you started want to drink/use it.

Hey guys, Big Bath is having promotion on iPure water filter at RM777 with installation via Groupon. It is from Korea and comes with 10 years warranty covering filter’s outer fibreglass shell only.

Any comment? Good buy?

I guess he mean one of the filter layer is from Korea and assembling in Malaysia, it could be just another OEM external filter.
Did he just mentioned activated carbon in the external water filter? hmm.gif

If I were you, with only 2 choices above, I would rather choose eSpring.
