Don't lose sleep over this. All banks will state that the annual fees is chargable but in reality its hard see a new card application not bundled with a free annual fee waiver. (If they want to charge you) You will see this transaction being posted in your first bill and never ever pay anything to the cc application agent coz if they ask money from you then something is wrong already. Walk away and report this to the bank (they are so-called representing) ASAP!

What I suggest you to do ... if the bank really charge you annual fee, call CS immediately and cancel the card. Don't tolerate bad CS / unfulfilled promises by agents and send a clear signal to the bank not to bully you as a consumer!

Just to add ... why apply the same card from the same bank lah my friend ? Best practice when you are travelling is to carry cards of different banks. If one fails at least you have a chance from another bank. If Bank A fails ... most probably both cards that you carry will fail as they use the same authentication gateway.

Well if you still want to do it .... you can only apply for a MC if your current card is already a VISA and likewise. Not sure about whether you will get shared or seperate CL but seperate CL will not be combined if you cancel one of the card.

The answer to the question that many here have asked before in many varieties.

Some people will say get a card with your bank or get a card which suits your lifestyle. Whatever you do, get something which you think will suit you best (only you know this) coz different banks have different product offering which caters for the many type of customers out there!

I will say ... I don't think Citibank is good and someone else will say otherwise. It all depends on individual preferences my friend. It is actually simple ...

1. Get a card you like and stay with it for a while until they want to charge you annual fees.
2. Bank waives the fee ... you decide to stay on or not. If they don't ... cancel card and move to another bank.
3. You don't like the cc service for whatever reason ... cancel the card and get out.
4. More importantly >>>> Be a responsible cc user and don't come back here with a huge cc debt and telling us we didn't warn ya.

Sorry if my words are a bit strong .... just being straight forward.

Something that suits my lifestyle seems more logical. Need somewhere to start, too many to browse thru rclxub.gif So there's no particular recommendation for me? Erm, one with no annual fee plus say petrol benefits would be nice. Shoot me anyone to start with,so I can go look n see if the card suits me

And yea, thanks for the headsup,it's good to warn new users like me laugh.gif

I have tested RHB's cc before. My complaints are

- RHB cards takes a long time to get approved. Expect 3-4 weeks or more before you receive the card
- CS takes a long time to pick up the phone.

I place a very high importance on CS responsiveness, speed and ability to attend to the customer needs as I use my card a lot when travelling. You don't want to be stuck in a foreign country when suddenly your card fail to work when you are about to pay for your hotel / food. It's beyond embarassing ... the look is "priceless".

What is the requirement of Premiere card? is it higher grade than platinum, can get so high -- RM40K limit ?
*
QUOTE(hye @ Oct 3 2008, 07:44 PM)
It is call the HSBC "Premier" not "Premiere". Yes ... it is a higher grade than Platinum (Infinite is VISA's version). You need to have min RM200K in total deposits/investments with HSBC. If you want an intro ... PM me.
*
All the HSBC Premier Mastercard cardholders i know have AT LEAST RM40,000.00 of credit line for the exclusive card. So i guess RM40k is the lowest credit line/entry level for HSBC Premier Mastercard.

And you don't have to get an introducer to be HSBC Premier customer. So long you meet the T&C will do.

I think he meant Standard Chartered E Saver Debit Card

I am using it right now, but do not get any rebates as promised...zzz

Are you sure ? I use my Standard Chartered E$aver Debit Mastercard to pay for petrol since February and they will debit the 7% back to my account every end of the month.

Wait till you hear what's the entry level CL for RHB's VISA Infinite. It is RM200K ... yes ... you heard me right.

Before anyone here can get excited about this ... of course getting this card is not easy. You need to have LOTS of deposit with the bank in order for you to be "offered" this card. Unlike SCB's version of the Infinite, you can't walk into the bank and apply for the card. It's not available for application ... by invitation only.

I thought the infinite card can be applied? The annual income i think is around 380k to qualified for the card, which mean 31.6k per month, 200k limit is way too high for that income. Anyone here holding that card ? But indeed Rhb does give quite decent limit for their card, like their platinum requirement are only 60k per annum, but they give out 25k limit minimum.

Oppps ... when I made my attempt to appl, that's the stuff the RHB's CS was telling me. OK ... so now I know what's the qualifier for the card which is still above most people in Malaysia.

@Reventon ... I'm still certain about the CL coz I ask multiple sources to get that info. Plus, I asked someone I knew in the bank.

Coz if you applied through their roadshows ... the agent (RHB do outsource part of their cc marketing) will gets some cash from each of your card.

maybank does issue a classic card with 3k limit too, so far they didn't spoilt their card standard by giving low limit to their gold or platinum card like other bank.
*
Ha, that has got to be the biggest joke I ever heard rclxms.gif

Do you know they even have 20K plat card at MBB? or 5K gold card? Check around and you will be surprised.

Yeah, got invited for the card a few years back and can confirm the limit is way above RM200K

Dear financial guru's..

Lets say i have a history of bad payment to the bank for my credit card, and coz of that, I might have problems applying new credit card/personal loans (bad ccris/ctos record).

But if I would like to get a sub-card from my mom, does the financial institution still check my background with the banks? (eg my ccris/ctos record) and do they still require any documents from me?

What are chances of the sub-card being approved?

Hope there is someone here with the knowledge to enlighten me! notworthy.gif

Cheers...

The banks will still check your background as a SOP but won't do so for your sub-card as the responsibility of the sub-card falls on your shoulder. (Unless bankruptcy maybe then reject) Sub-check approval is easy but it depends whether you will get yourself approved for a new card or not.
