maybank does issue a classic card with 3k limit too, so far they didn't spoilt their card standard by giving low limit to their gold or platinum card like other bank.

However, the minimum requirements for an entry level cc is the same for all banks as this is the BNM requirement me thinks. It's just that these banks practices a more stringent approving criterias.

Excluding MBB, which is 30k.
The rest, including HSBC, is 18k.

No need to check also I can tell you the rates are determined by VISA & MC International. This info is stated in your card T&C. It's the whole load of paper that comes with your cc. Find and check that out if you haven't thrown it out yet.

yeah what i mean was - are the rates itself publish anywhere?

let's say i know i want to buy a book cost usd20, anywhere to check what is the exchange rate charge by visa or master on that day?

What I normally do ... check the rates over @ www.xe.com on the day that you are doing the transaction. This site will give you a good indication of what the current international rates are. The actual rates will be very close to what is stated on xe.com.

u shd use the credit card which never got the late payment record when apply for it.

btw, u also can try to ask from the credit card agent who based in the IKEA, ask them why ur application fail. they shd be able to tell u why.

my question: do i have to pay the RM 70 before they waive later or is it automatically no charged to me?

Added on October 5, 2008, 1:55 pmalso, how can u confirm that the annual fee has been successfully waived?

as far as I know.. CT bank normally will issue u the new card with separate credit limit... (in this case for IceBikers, Clear Card)

Credit limit will normally be the same amount as your existing cards, but it's extra ! no sharing unlike other banks

Don't lose sleep over this. All banks will state that the annual fees is chargable but in reality its hard see a new card application not bundled with a free annual fee waiver. (If they want to charge you) You will see this transaction being posted in your first bill and never ever pay anything to the cc application agent coz if they ask money from you then something is wrong already. Walk away and report this to the bank (they are so-called representing) ASAP!

What I suggest you to do ... if the bank really charge you annual fee, call CS immediately and cancel the card. Don't tolerate bad CS / unfulfilled promises by agents and send a clear signal to the bank not to bully you as a consumer!

Just to add ... why apply the same card from the same bank lah my friend ? Best practice when you are travelling is to carry cards of different banks. If one fails at least you have a chance from another bank. If Bank A fails ... most probably both cards that you carry will fail as they use the same authentication gateway.

Well if you still want to do it .... you can only apply for a MC if your current card is already a VISA and likewise. Not sure about whether you will get shared or seperate CL but seperate CL will not be combined if you cancel one of the card.
