I just love how they still make this movie in a rendition of the far future from a 60s point of view. - Male crew must've mastered the highest level of self control, hence the female crews can strut around in miniskirts uniform. - Crew members still loading torpedoes manually into the hatch, devoid of mechanical intervention. Starfleet never knew how to minimise their running cost by keeping as little manpower as possible, by developing more automated technology in their ships. - most planets contains adequate % of oxygen, hence can humans can walk on them safely |

Even in Star Trek: TNG and Voyager, there is no seat belt on the captain's chair or all the chairs on the bridge ...

Nice movie
At the scene where kirk was getting his captaincy, and spock prime was watching from a distance. I was half expecting him to say "you know jim, i never told him i couldn't do that mission alone" And then william shatner appears. ( meaning they did the mission together but spock nvr told young kirk ) Did you see wynona rider!? Anybody caught the reference to admiral archer ? To me this is a all star cast.. harold as sulu, aoemer as bones, sylar as spock, theres even that asian guy from prison break appearing for a few seconds.. |

I have a question though, aren't Romulans supposed to be similar with Vulcan in terms of appearance?
Is there anything that I've missed? Not really a trekkie anyway. |

They are related to Vulcans but have evolved differently. Technically like more emotional Vulcans if I'm not mistaken. Is there anything that I've missed? Not really a trekkie anyway. |

QUOTE(Gr3yL3gion @ May 19 2009, 02:18 PM) I know that, but as far as I remember, they look almost the same. For that think there's no explanation. This Trek movie is a re-imagining and even Abrams + writers admitted that he didn't watch (or like) Trek to prepare for this movie. In Star Trek, Nero looked so different, especially with those face tattoos. For one there would probably not exist any Romulan miners like Eric Bana and his gang in this movie. From the last TNG movie Nemesis it's explained that the Romulans used Remans mostly as slave miners. Secondly Romulans as we know it with their humongous shoulder pads and quilted jackets don't exist any more in this timeline This post has been edited by redninja: May 19 2009, 05:29 PM |

From the last TNG movie Nemesis it's explained that the Romulans used Remans mostly as slave miners. Secondly Romulans as we know it with their humongous shoulder pads and quilted jackets don't exist any more in this timeline romulans is exactly the same in this movie as in the rest of the star trek world. romulans stemmed from the same biological background as the vulcans, but they moved to a different planet a couple of thousand years ago and have evolved independently ever since. during that time, the vulcans developed the logic religion, while romulans keep to their ancestor's more violent and free-for-all ways. actually, we dont see other romulans in this movie other than those on the narada (nero's ship). the reason why nero looks very different is bcoz after their home planet destroyed in the future, nero and his crew went on a rampage. they killed the romulans high council bcoz they failed to stop the planet from being destroyed. they wiped out a fleet of klingon ships who're defending their turf. then they wanted to kill spock bcoz he also failed to save the planet. in doing so, nero became a rogue entity. they shaved their heads to purge themselves, and tattooed themselves to remind them of their lost. also, nero has a bite mark on his face, which he got on a klingon prison planet. this will be in the deleted scenes. |
