I just love how they still make this movie in a rendition of the far future from a 60s point of view.

- Male crew must've mastered the highest level of self control, hence the female crews can strut around in miniskirts uniform.
- Crew members still loading torpedoes manually into the hatch, devoid of mechanical intervention. Starfleet never knew how to minimise their running cost by keeping as little manpower as possible, by developing more automated technology in their ships.
- most planets contains adequate % of oxygen, hence can humans can walk on them safely

thanks for the explanation... i know what it meant to do..
i just meant that its preposterous something of this sort could exist in reality.
something so tiny having huge amounts of power in it..
hell.. if they're so advanced they can utilize it to power cities and worlds...
anyhow,, what i mean is the idea that a single liquid can form a black hole..
would love to hear some theories on it..

its not preposterous considering humans can build destructive nuclear weapons based on small quantity of elements.

Star Trek a science fiction. Fiction based on science/scientific theory. As all fiction do, theories can be tweaked/expanded/exagerrated. I enjoyed the movie alot without thinking too deep into each and every single science they used and their "plausibility".

Black Holes has NOT YET BEEN FULLY UNDERSTOOD by humans. Any sci-fi movie/shows that is making it as a plot device USED their imagination too in expanding/enhancing/exagerrating its basic concept/theory, for the sake of entertainment, and putting in fictional elements with great powers that doesn't exist. By taking each and every bit of these elements and question its plausibility in real life is moot. There is NOT ENOUGH FACT to sustain the discussion.

imagine this:

present: 21st century
trek-era: 22nd century (or 23rd?)

Logically speaking, IT IS POSSIBLE to have new element with great powers discovered during the coming 2 centuries, and IT IS POSSIBLE to understand black holes even more to know it DOES happen like what's shown in this movie.
