For you all information, JJ done a really great story telling that has satisfied all hardcore trekkies and new comers. The old Spock came from the original Star Trek Timeline (Star Trek 1.0) which consist of the original Kirk, Picard timeline and into this new alternate timeline (Star Trek 2.0). The movie has nicely bridge the story of 2 timeline together without ignoring the original lore and thus yet "reboot" the series into a new unknown future.

Really a great movie, gonna watch it again in THX to get the better feeling of the Warp Engine boost.

U mean the Alexander Courage original version, right? It was played in its entirety during the end credits... But it was mixed with Michael Giacchino's composition...
*
only could hear bits n pieces during the ending credits... must be too meshed up with the other composition..
in older movies the theme was more distinct

I went to watch the premiere at Cineleisure on tuesday night.
Excitement, entertaining and action all the way. I didn't feel that I was
watching a two hours movie.
Overall an excellent movie ... don't miss it.

i've just watched the show.. first show of the day..

1 word to describe the movie.. AWESOME!

totally deserves the 5/5 stars its getting everywhere.. JJ directing is amazing and the casts are spot on. Zachary has just stepped up another notch in his acting with Spock. From Sylar to Spock.. haha..

The part where Sulu made a hash during the launch of the Enterprise is super funny.. was laughing already before the joke was out.

if this film is considered canon in the star trek universe, then the rest of the star trek spinoffs (the next generation, deep space nine, voyager) except enterprise simply did not happen. brilliant, bcoz i totally dont mind a new star trek tv-series of the original generation.

the problem is, to get the cast to play a tv-series might be too much to ask. well, atleast i could hope for several sequals to this film.

Yeah, U might be right, but I think it would be kinda nice if they can make a new TV series based on this "Alternate Trek Universe"...

I'm happy that they've oredi confirmed a sequel scheduled for a 2011 release... rclxms.gif

4/5

Liked it but wasn't as enthusiastic as some.

I think it's a very tricky to rate this movie. First off I'm glad it didn't feel like a 2 hour episode of Star Trek but on the other hand, Abrams directed it like he would have had in a 2 hour pilot for a TV series - throw in lots of explosions and special effects in the absence of more screen time among the cast (more screen time between Spock and Kirk?!) but leave us drooling for MORE in future installments. The cast assembled definitely is a perfect fit but f*** me, Quinto is the man - showed the most emotion without moving a muscle on his face and never thought Pine could be Kirk but he pulled it off and Yelchin was hilarious!

Only negatives were that some of the scenes intended to draw a laugh was distracting and weren't needed (Kirk trying to warn the ship that they were walking into a trap) and I thought there'd be a love triangle between Spock, Kirk and Uhura but wasn't to be. I liked it, would watch it again but though different genres of movies, Batman Begins is still the perfect prequel/origin story for me.

PS: I had a nerdgasm when Slusho was ordered. drool.gif

Does this movie have a lot of action scenes? I'm more of an action fan and I'm hoping this movie will have some cool sci-fi action stuffs like...Transformers?
And I'm hoping for less romance. I don't like romance in my action.

TOS, TNG, DSN, VYR timeline will still continue. As mentioned in the movie by Spock I think; that this movie has spawn an alternate reality. You see, the successful of the movie is because the original timeline is remain as canon and yet the new timeline also canon. So now in star Trek back story have 3 realm which is Star Trek 1.0 (Original), Star Trek 2.0 (New), and Mirror universe. With all 3 remain intact and alive. The most exciting is because of this superb arrangment the fandom accepted JJ adaption well.
