dammit, i getting malas to update

1. Download and run WindowsSideShowForWindowsMobile.exe on your PC, and open the folder it was installed to.

2. Connect your phone to your computer over USB and select "Open device to view files".

3. If the .NET Compact Framework 2.0 or later is not installed on your device (it is not on most Windows Mobile 5 devices), install it:

1. Copy NETCFv2.wm.armv4i from the installation folder to the My Documents folder on your device.

2. On the phone, open File Explorer.

3. Open NETCFv2.wm.armv4i in File Explorer, and follow the instructions to restart the device.

4. Connect your PC to the Internet if it is not already connected.

5. Drag WindowsSideShowForWindowsMobile.CAB to the My Documents folder on the Windows Mobile device.

6. On the phone, open File Explorer.

7. In File Explorer, select WindowsSideShowForWindowsMobile.CAB in the My Documents folder. Click OK if you get a publisher warning. The program will install on your phone. Note: Installation adds a plug-in which allows you to see SideShow glance data on your Phone�s home screen. This may switch your layout from what you had previously. To toggle layouts, open the home or today screen settings page on your phone.

8. From your PC, pair and connect your phone over Bluetooth.

1. On the device, click the Start button, click Settings, click Connections, and then click Bluetooth. Turn Bluetooth on and make the phone discoverable.

2. On your Windows Vista PC, open the Bluetooth Devices control panel, and then click Add.

3. Select your device and click Pair. If you do not see your phone, make sure it is in discoverable mode, and that there is a Bluetooth adapter connected to your PC and turned on.

4. Select "Let me choose my own passcode", and then enter a passcode.

5. A dialog box will appear on the phone asking you to enter the passcode.

6. Enter the passcode and then press return. If notifications to enable other services come up, click Allow All Connections.

9. When a message appears on the PC to install driver software, click Locate and install driver software.

10. After the drivers install, go to your phone's home or today screen, where you will see the SideShow logo with the text not connected (you may have to scroll to see this). Select the text. If you do not see this text, click the Start button, click Programs, and then click Windows SideShow.

1. If you get an error saying you do not have the latest version of the .NET Compact Framework installed, perform step 3 to install the .Net Compact Framework. Remove and reinstall Windows SideShow for Windows Mobile by clicking Start, clicking Settings, clicking Remove Programs, clicking Windows SideShow, and then clicking OK. Then start again at step 7.

11. Wait a few seconds for the phone to connect. If it does not connect automatically, click the Connect button on the lower left. Your phone may take up to 30 seconds to connect. If the phone does not connect, try turning it off and on, and see the�Troubleshooting � Phone fails to connect� section in the readme.

12. Choose your user account on the phone, when prompted. You can change this later by clicking Menu.

13. Open the Windows SideShow control panel to pick gadgets to use on your phone. You can click the "Get more gadgets online" link at the bottom of the screen to access the Windows SideShow section of the Windows Live Gallery.

This is a summary of the proven tweaks taken from the Diamond Tweaks thread. Let's keep the comments in the Diamond Tweaks thread and keep this one as a list of the actual tweaks only to be an easily accessible summary. Thanks to all who discovered the Tweaks

1. Boost TFL3D Performance --> Using Advanced Config, change File system cache to 8mb and file system filter cache to 131072

2. Boost TFL3D Performance --> HKLM\System\Storagemanager\Fatfs and change key Cachesize from 16384 to 32768

3. Wake Up on New SMS --> HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL : DisableSMSWakeUpEvent <-- set to "1" by default. Change value to "0"

4. Switch Mute Call on phone flipped face down: HKLM\Software\HTC\PHONE : FaceDownMuteRing: change value to "0"

5. Change CallWaiting Tone --> HKLM\Software\HTC\PHONE : by default set to \windows\waitingtone.wav by default. change to anything else

6. Boost TFL3D Scrolling Speed --> - HKLM\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\limit = 16384 or 32768 (DWORD decimal)

7. In case of emergency, to do a Hard Reset, with the phone ON, hold down the Volume Down and Enter (round navigation) keys and press soft reset while they are pressed

8. Prevent screen switching off during phone call --> HKEY_Local_Machine\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\EnableFastD ormantDisplayDuringCall to 0

17. Something funny and very strange- realised by yelitterulez, confirmed by pietrucci and tested by myself. When making a call the screen stays on if you leave the phone lying flat on a table. If you wait 10 seconds into the call, you can pick it up to your ear and the screen stays on.

BUT if you make a call with the phone slightly tilted/ slanted (you get the idea), the screen turns off as soon as the call gets connected!
The moment you hold the phone to your head the blacklight turns off. In fact: the moment you hide the screen with anything it turns off! (try your hand...).
This might be the reason why everybody's complaining about the screen turning off during a call: you hold the phone to your head! When you turn the screen back on manually, it stays on no matter if you hold your hand or head...

18. Automatically lock your Diamond --> HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\BackLight\AutoDevic eLockEnable from 0 to 1 and everytime your backlight goes off the device is locked

19. More Camera Modes:
To Enable 'Burst': HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\Camera\P6 -> change the value "enabled" from 0 to 1

Ok, I had to go through this and surprisingly, not that many ppl knew how aside from performing a hard reset. Here's how u do it:

1) Go to File Explorer
2) Go to My Device, scroll down till u find a file titled "PIM"
3) Rename that PIM file to something else (ie PIMWHATEVER). Do NOT delete this file at this point of time else u`ll get an error message
4) Perform soft reset. Ur PDA will generate a new PIM file once it restarts
5) All contacts AND calendar notes are now removed from ur PDA. U may not proceed to delete the renamed PIMWHATEVER file.

Done!

P.S: Unless u`re really sure u want to lose ur contacts and calendar permanently (or copying ur contacts from ur SIM card) or can be recovered from sync-ing with ur PC, don`t do this (credit to kenso)

Proper reviews can be found on various sites including youtube, so i wont reiterate them. I'm gonna check up stuff that HAS NOT already been mentioned. So please dun ask me to do an unboxing. lol. Ask me stuff other reviewers never tested.

First impression, EXTREMELY bad fingerprint magnet. I was expecting it to be like D810's fingerprint problem, but its much muh worse. However, the back cover seems to be a different kinda plastic glossy coating than D810, so i expect no peeling problems here.

Start up screen, after it install all necessary sys cabs, there's actually a short demo (video) on how to use the Touch interface. The old Touch didnt have that, justin writing in a manual..

The glass screen feels....like got some static attraction, so its totally not fun to scroll around with the finger. Well see how it is after putting on the screen protector


EDITED: Added Screenprotector, Touch feel is now MUCH better. Screenprotector is also of high quality. (thick and solid)

UPDATE on ICONS: Some games i insalled like Hexic and Warcraft 2, the icons in the start menu is totally screwed up, like, can see the shape of the icon, but not wat the icon is. It looks black and has strange lines. But not all games like this. Only some. I'm trying to figure out why. They're all meant for VGA. Hmm

Running the game once and performing a soft reset solves this problem.

UPDATE on TOUCH FLO 3D LAG: I've tried to mess around with Touch FLo 3D, see how much stress it can take. Handling it normally, placing my thumb at the bottom and moving it left to right, selecting what it want, and returning to the home screen, no problem at all. Now as you know besides sliding your thumb around, u can just CLICK it and what you want will appear. Example you're at TODAY screen, i click messages instead of susah go slide from TODAY to MESSAGES. Slight lag occurs when i do this (a tenth of a second? Probably loading time not really a "lag"). Now i tried ABUSING the system = Click on on messages, before messages load, i click Today, click Music, click Programs, click Internet, Click click click click. Basically i'm not letting ANYTHING load, just spamming clicks. A definite lag before what i last clicked finally appears on my screen (about 1- 1.5 seconds). Which is impressive, considering how i abused it like crazy. LOL. I honestly expected it to hang.

UPDATE ON MAPKING 2007: I have just tested it, and Mapking users will be glad to know that it supports the VGA screen on HTC Diamond, and GPS works flawlessly, despite worries that eGPS since its new, may not be recognized by Mapking

UPDATE ON CALL OF DUTY: Works absolutely awesome, NOT using minimal settings, i was able to play pretty well. NOTE: Tytn2 and Touch Cruise was NOT able to play due to heavy lag even with minimal settings. Game was perfectly fine, with except with just a small little, not lag, but looks like the rendering was a bit slow as i looked around, when i used hardkeys and stylus at the same time. NOTE: ALL pdas lag in gaming when using hardkeys and joystick at the same time. However, it was minimal, and call of duty was enjoyable to say the least. SO yes, it DOES have graphic accelerators. Proper benchmarks will be done when i have proper time

UPDATE. SPB benchmark seems to hang. cant run it. hangs at testing word document.

UPDATE on Touch Flo 3D part 2: Download http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment...42&d=1202399126, thanks to schap, and customize File system cache to 8mb and file system filter cache to 131072. This gives drastic improvements in Touch Flo 3D.

UPDATE ON BATTERY REVIEW : I did this test, based on what a student (like me) would probably use. More sms than calls. Here's a rough estimate.

TOTAL HOURS BEFORE KONKING OUT TOTALLY = approximately 9 hours, give or take
TOTAL SMS-ES = 120
TOTAL TALK TIME = approximately 15-20 mins
TOTAL LIGHT GAMING TIME (Hexic) = 45 mins.


Its actually pretty impressive.

My verdict is that with backlight on "auto adjust" and with the dimlight dimming within seconds after not being used, there is a HUGE amount of power saving from running the VGA screen. Also, it could be possible that with its graphic accelerators, gaming also consumed less power than usual.

My Touch Cruise with same usage lasted about 10-11 hours, so not much difference actually. surprising since battery so much smaller. again, i guess its the backlight "auto adjust" feature

IMPORTANT UPDATE (regarding black icons): It appears that the cause of our ugly black icons is not our VGA screen, but Touch Flo 3D itself. Looks like its a bit buggy. So we'll have to wait for a proper rom update regarding it (or perhaps someone can come up with a registry fix). Don't believe me? switch off your Touch Flo 3D, and soft reset your PDA. All icons should turn back to normal. Also, with Touch Flo 3D off, you can expect better battery life, as well as a significant increase in speed for your pda

UPDATE HTC Touch FLO 3D, another bug: There appears to be memory leak issues with Touch Flo 3D. Will have to wait for rom update to fix all these bugs

Great news for all HTC Touch Diamond users. Roms based on rom 1.93 onwards have black icons issue fixed, and looks like bluetooth/mute problem fixed as well!
