is that consider abnormal for PDA phones?

I just get my Diamond, I'm 1st time PDA users.

2 questions as below

1. How do I set the SMS alert tone for different group ?
2. I have configure the VPN to my office, but how do I able to make them connected to my office network?

facing 1 problem on backlight

"Turn off backlight if device is not used for <select time>"

once soft reset, it will return back to default (10 sec). do you guys having same problem?
