Is anyone able to get more than one day of use with Diamond? I guess turning off the auto-backlight might help a bit or wait for some cooks at xda to come up with some optimised Rom. Although I don't own the device but today I played with it awhile at Gurney Plaza. Nice feeling to it, small and solid. I guess the only worrying thing is the battery life.

Baronic, how's your take on it? Is the battery performance a big drawback for the otherwise 'complete' device?

Rom will be an issue for Touch Diamond if u buy overseas.

HTC has introduced the "radio rom from hell" where u can only flash, if you're in the same region. lol, like if u flash UK diamond rom on yours, u'll get an error.

that is, until XDA can come up with a good hard spl for TD
*
Bro Baronic, do you mean that one should not rush to install the hard-spl for TD straight away? I read that Olipro is coming out with a more robust hard-spl compared to Tom Codon's one.

On average my TD only could last 12 hours...really need a spare battery

I wonder why does HTC give a misleading standby time when the device can barely last a day. I think it is too early to look for one now as the device is new. Better to go for a higher capacity battery rather than to get a similar capacity one which will give you the same results.

Has anyone tried to lower down the brightness to the absolute minimum and un-check the 'auto-adjust' backlight feature in the backlight settings and see how far this takes you? Other setting is to set the device to turn-off after 1 minute of inactivity. It may not contribute much but worth trying though.

Just to side-track a bit, the Rom that I'm using from Laurentius26 in Xda, which is a diamond port to my Tilt together with the power feature is giving me an average standby time of 4 days which I feel is awesome. The least is 2 days with heavy usage.

But then again the battery of the Tilt is 1350mAH vs 900mAH for Diamond.

Yup, totally I totally agree with you on the usage part. Perhaps my usage and other people's usage is not the same and hence contributed to different and varying results. And you're spot-on when you say the cooked Roms are definitely better than the standard fare HTC is dishing out to its buyers. Thank God we have great cooks over at you know where. smile.gif

And yeah, I'm still sitting on the fence on this one.

google la, watever software u want. software so generic....google watever u want la, how to teach u to google =.=

To add a bit, please go through the forums and read thoroughly about flashing and make sure you know what you're doing and the steps to recover before ever attempting to flash any customized Rom without first installing hard-spl. They have been many who have ruined their new devices by not doing proper research on flashing and thought they can get away with it by whining and pleading for help in the forums. You risk being flamed and even worse turn your device into a useless display set.

Hi folks, here's other alternative cases from pdair. I've gotten the aluminium casings from them previously and they did an excellent job in protecting my tilt. They're about to release one for Diamond soon.

If leather is your preference, they have fine leather casings too.

Cheerio.

i don't know if this may help, i've always installed and used cleartemp and memmaid to clear my td memory, my td memory is hovering at around 50+% and never more than 55%.

a soft-reset is needed after about 5 days (sometimes a week) to set things right again. even when there's low memory usage, my td will feel sluggish until a hr is done.

i also remove all shortcuts or links from the windows\startup folder and launch only those apps that i need to stay in memory manually.

actually the extended battery is not that bad, the added thickness is quite negligible to me.

in fact, it makes the device feels more solid to hold but the added advantage is better battery life. i'm into my second charge cycle now and averaging around 4 days.

on the rom front, htc europe has released a new rom version 2.03 and the cooks over at xda have come up with some nice customized roms based on this version. of course you can also install the original full version but with hard-spl install first.

hi oldnewspaper, if we flash this european version, will it void our warranty since it is not for our region?

Anyone here uses the Capdase Screen Protector? I applied mine last time, including the bottom part of the screen and it seems that the touch sensitive scroll does not respond anymore. Is it because of the SP or something else? I mean, i use to be able to scroll around the Contacts by using the touch sensitive scroll but now, i cant do it anymore.
*
do you mean using it to scroll through contacts and programs? did you flash a new rom? think you might need to use the diamond tweaker to enable it back.

Just bought a extended HTC battery for my Diamond. First time hold really felt my Diamond had gotten fat. But overall size still not bad ...still smaller than my previous SE P1i  rclxms.gif
*
been using it for quite some time, battery life is better...size is still bearable nod.gif

remember to drain it properly first for the first few cycles.

Any good battery software plugin? Seems like the battery status is not updating properly until soft-reset is done.

For those having problems with GPS, please try to copy the ephemeris file to your Windows folder and then try to run your GPS application again.

Attached is the link to download the latest file:
http://service.mio-tech.com/eeservice/packedephemeris.ee

I've tried on many occasions where I flashed a new OS then copied the file to the Windows folder and it works. Give it a go and see. At least it works for me.
