Reports is the best way to earn marks ! Trust me, try to do as good as possible for your report. The ability of you in presenting your data and discussion in a literature form, will help to build your impression among lecturers. If you can do superb report, you have a higher chance of impressing them and make them remember your name. When they remember you, you have a lot of advantages in terms of project selection, consultation and asking for tips brows.gif (especially those lecturer that practice berat sebelah tongue.gif)

Haha. Dont worry much, there was once I only managed 27/40 for coursework. But end up scoring an A for that subject. There is another 60% for your finals. If you work hard, + a little of luck, I guess you still can made up for the loss of mark in coursework.

hehe....allocation for marks in exam.....dun worry....write every thing u can into the answer sheet in exam....as long as u get bout 25 or 26 coursework mark there is chances.....

dun think the total final marks is fair.... anyway some lecturer will try to help...but you have to give them an excuse to give you marks...so fill up the answer sheet..

Added on September 15, 2008, 12:52 amby the way.....my comment on UTAR..........em......

you'll know after u compare the fees/credit of UTAR and MMU......

there is not much different.... but at least some people think paying for education in MMU is worth it...

why there is no one comment on the lecturer there? hehe...

I'm a UTAR graduate in Chemistry. Finished my whole 3 years in FES, Setapak. I heard a lot from my lecturers about UTAR, Kampar and looking forward to go there for my Masters.

I didn't like the idea of studying in UTAR at first but when I was there, the lecturer proves me wrong. Chemistry lecturers are ALL PhD holders except one new lecturer (Masters). They are all very professional, helpful and responsible. The lecturers are not only well versed in teaching but also in research field.

The best part of UTAR is, UTAR allows students to hands on all the facilities in the labs. Or I should said, all the facilities are hands on. According to my lecturers, public Universities do not allow students to use the million-ringgit machines, only the lab assistants are allowed to touch them. How sad. You won't get to learn how to test the sample with the machine.

If you're comparing the facilities in UTAR, I would say UTAR FES Chemistry course provides a very good facilities. One machine can cost up to hundred thousands or millions. Those who are in FES should know what I'm talking about. Since UTAR is a private university, it is not given any grant from the government. Every single cent is from those people who work hard and provide affordable education for you, me and others. Those people are the MCA, companies, our parents and those who pay for your fees. Those who still complains about how lousy UTAR is, should really think twice.

UTAR is improving even better with the new president. I am looking forward to see UTAR further success.

Hooray to UTAR FES. smile.gif

i think some universities and colleges are starting to abolish it but so far UTAR hasnt. i got friends failed in the recent results which was released 3 weeks ago and they still manage to resit them in the coming semester.

I don't know much about degree

But for foundation, from Jan 2009 intake onwards, if you fail, no more resit. You'll have to repeat the whole unit..

yeah, so i see a stricter system now...

Hi~

icon_question.gif

May I know anyone of you is the staff/ Postgraduate student at "Institute of Postgraduate Studies and Research (IPSR)"?
The IPSR campus is located in the heart of PJ.

I've got some Qs on:

Scientific Computing Group - Research in the Faculty of Engineering & Science

Computational Mechanics

1) What finite element analysis (FEA) software programs does UTAR-IPSR have?
- Algor? ANSYS? What versions are available?

2) It seems that SolidWorks is the CAD software program that UTAR has. Any other CAD software programs are available?

3) Does UTAR-IPSR have Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) expertise? If yes, what CFD software programs are available?

Thanks in advance~ notworthy.gif

Cheers~ smile.gif

Herm, where you heard this from ? If you have CGPA above 2.0 and fail one subject, you can always opt to resit for it. However, most of the time, when a person failed a subject, they have either extremely low coursework mark or they cannot do the final paper at all. Hence, in order to so call "help" the student, they are encouraged to repeat the paper, so that they can re-do their coursework and increase their coursework mark. With a higher coursework mark, the chances of passing is definitely higher.

However, when you have CGPA below 2.0 for 2 consecutive semester, the university will kick you out. The only way to remain in the university is to repeat a number of subjects, and get certain grades such as C, C+ (of course the higher the grade, the better it is) so that you can increase your cgpa again.

Its not only affecting your campus, its affecting FES also. A lot of lecturer had been transfered to UTAR Kampar. The only way to cope is to allow one lecturer to teach some extra subjects. However, for FES, one lecturer are only allowed to teach a maximum of 2-3 subjects and the subject must be related to their field of expertise.

Utar is cool.. u know why

because when you go out working.

the boss will ask u graduate from where.

And if u say taylors or sunway or what ever la they will just say "Oh is see"

but if u graduate UTAR they will say " Oh Utar Issit the one in PJ or in setapak or blah blah" and they will ask alot about Utar

Why because Utar is interesting unlike other Collages which is always associated with one word "expensive"

And Dr Ramani.... hhehhehe that guys is funny. he and his flowers.
