the modem from Maxis is locked i tink...and u needa unlock it if u want to switch to other telco.

not worth to get E220 now. E1762 free by maxis better because it support 7.2 DL / 5.76mbps.
E220 only support 3.6/7.2mpbs with 384k UL.

Turns out it's not the bundled software that launch the Maxis website upon getting connected. I tried using third party software (http://mwconn.m.i24.cc/index.html) and the Maxis website still get launched after getting connected.

The modem perhaps? Need to flash it?

The maxis web page will always be launched. Can't do anything to prevent that.
Just ignore it will do. Now the web page provide news for people to read. So it is a good page to visit too.

maxis i notice they got the 7-day satisfaction guarantees...

how does it work?...
let's say if i subscribe the Rm 48.00 package, pay Rm78.00 upfront (will be adjusted in the 2nd month,meaning 2nd month i only pay Rm18),

THEN if within 7 days i cancel and use the 7-day guarantees, would they refund all the Rm78.00?...

yes. 1 picture used up few Mb when we capture a picture with camera, the few pictures already a lot megabytes. and then sent out also included in quota.

based on every day around 50mb (30 days) , 1 day only can use about 70 minites. omg, i hav to reconsider again.... watever way i think, all problem also related to quota.

based on teedy post , 10 min 7 Mb, and 1 day around 70 min, it is possible exceed 1G.

Well.. If u're using for normal surfing.. I dont think u can reach 1GB per month..
last time, I used my broadband less than 1GB out of 3GB.. (what a waste)
I use my maxis for msn, facebook, checking some email, lowyat forum and few youtube video
my average usage 5hours/day with my netbook at campus..

Perhaps it's just the way I use internet, my home streamyx data usage does not exceed 2GB/month on average. What's the likelihood of me using more than 1GB on mobile internet?

use the AT command to disable the internal flash (aka Virtual CD).

dont use the maxis dashboard. use a generic version.

refund within 7-days, FULL refund including the upfront payment of RM150 (for the modem and must be returned too).

The upload speed of wireless broadband is low. It's the same for all wireless. You cant compare to wired connection such stremyx.
