I have some quetions here:

1. all wireless broadband packages no contract or some packages only got?
2. for new purchsed package: any activation fee? any handling fee ? billing fee? any ' hidden' fees?
I seen thier website mentioned handling fee & activation fees do not apply, but I stil wanto to confirm.
3. can cancel anytime we want? is that any fees/hidden fees to pay when terminate/closing it? RM200?
4. any detailed term & condition ?
5. all packages now depends to ' quota' , not speed package, am i right? and speed based on bla bla bla... like as they stated wat location... line... etc..
6. need to use sim card? sim card provided?

#2:
just view my first bill thru online, no charge for any duty stamp, fees....
btw, my package is RM48 bundle. just paid upfront last time, so first 2 month no charge.
So i believe other package also no hidden charge. Thier website stated very clear, just pay upfront,
eg.
1.5GB FREE modem.
RM150 for 1.5Gb. RM30 rebate every month. Pay RM15 for 1st 5 months, RM48/month after 5 months.

note : RM28 rebate is for 1GB top up quota FREE last month.

zte modem is that one white color large size like as normal router?

*
thanks for attached picture, it answered some of my questions.

QUOTE(shadow111 @ Mar 29 2010, 05:17 PM)

I found this thing,

Q5 Can I discontinue the Maxis Wireless Broadband Service anytime after the cooling-off period?*
Yes, you may discontinue the service anytime after the cooling-off period. A handling fee of RM200 will apply upon discontinuation of the service. If you have used the Maxis Wireless Broadband Service for more than twelve (12) months, the handling fee of RM200 will be waived.
*Not applicable to No Device and Bundled packages

so that mean for device pakacge, A handling fee of RM200 will apply for not using more than 12 months although no contract rclxub.gif mad.gif cry.gif

source: http://www.maxis.com.my/personal/broadband..._nocontract.asp

It is quite interesting i saw in web "No minimum contract period", but very disappointed saw above thingy, Rm200 for termination although there is no contract. don't know whether they will charge admmin fee , handling fee for termination?

fees and charging are not mentioned very cleary in advertising/main page of web. we dont know unless we go thru find it in detail and detail.

i'm not sure where you found this. But look like that was old package Term and condition.
*
I am not sure whether they had changed the term and conditions, cant found any detailed term & conditions on thier 'new' web now, only got plain & simple term & conditions, and fair use policy.

QUOTE(strydermurder @ Mar 29 2010, 08:17 PM)
im using maxis prepaid bb..so far so good
*
could u provide more information? is it weekly/daily broadband?
i wish to know is it only prepaid hotlink user can subscrip it? or everyone can?
simcard will be provided?
got any provided modem? or use our handphone as modem?
thanks.

oh i found some answer on thier hotlink.com.my.
I have no HSPA Modem or a HSPA enabled device, and my phone is not 3G capatible, so I have to leave this option.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR MAXIS BROADBAND SERVICES Version 22 Oct 2008

11.8 On termination of the Agreement by the Customer or Maxis for any reason whatsoever, the Customer shall immediately pay Maxis (i) all outstanding Service Charges in accordance with the Customer's account with Maxis; (ii) all charges and amounts due and unpaid as at the termination date and any accrued interests thereon; (iii) the cost of the Equipment if is not returned in good condition, fair wear and tear excepted; and (iv) a handling fee of RM200 if the Service is terminated within twelve (12) months from the date of registration by the Customer.

However, see below,

http://www.maxis.com.my/personal/general/t...lessPackage.asp
TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR MAXIS BROADBAND SERVICES – FOR DEVICELESS PACKAGE
10.8 On termination of the Agreement by the Customer or Maxis for any reason whatsoever, the Customer shall immediately pay Maxis (i) all outstanding Service Charges in accordance with the Customer's account with Maxis; (ii) all charges and amounts due and unpaid as at the termination date and any accrued interests thereon;

no Rm200 termination mentioned on above (TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR MAXIS BROADBAND SERVICES – FOR DEVICELESS PACKAGE)

here another quetions:
a bundle package has termination fee or not? because bundle package got free device (modem & usb modem).

watever there are, seems like thier term & conditions sometime conflict each others on thier website different pages, or not updated,etc...

so the best way to ask is,
any device package users here ? r there any term & condition form copy they gave u people? check to see whether RM200 termination fee applied, and whether got others handling fee? any other charge?

may b some people will recommand to call cs for infor, but based on my search on the previous post, we may get different answer from different cs personal , dont know which one we should listen? sometimes cs person seems like 'new' and dont know tis dont know that.

luckily, i just subscribe the new rm48 plan.  thumbup.gif
but then.. for those who hv been using since last time, it's nt really fair if they need to pay rm200 for termination fee.  mad.gif
*
hi there, r they gave a a copy of term & conditions paper/catalog? pls check for me because I wan to 100% confirm wheter got Rm200 termination fee /others charge. thanks.

if u review above few post, the termination fee r vary for different packages & time period. but not sure whether nows 'promotion' rm48 device package got termination or not.

QUOTE(cybpsych @ Mar 30 2010, 10:12 AM)
that's why if any telco has contractual plans (with termination penalty, etc. etc.), DO NOT subscribe.
*
not really like that, maxis got plan which has no contract also need pay termination fee when wanto terminate it. i wanto confirm whether it apply to current device package.

QUOTE(joexoll @ Mar 30 2010, 11:38 AM)
Hi

i juz plan to subscribe maxis bb, which is the new promotion with free modem 1.5G rm 48, but i confuse, wat different between this promotion plan with home value plan??
and may i know, if i subscribe the rm48 promotion, then terminate, will need to pay rm200 or not, since the reseller said, no contractual, but not sure whether need to pay or not if want to terminat, anyone can help clarify on this??

thanks
*
home value plan comes with 2G quota. not refundable upfront rm118, no 7 days trial, free modem but size larger, free 2 months subscription,
pls view infor here, but i believe info no totally detailed enough because detailed term & condition is not there.
http://www.maxis.com.my/personal/broadband...s_homevalue.asp

QUOTE(cybpsych @ Mar 30 2010, 08:18 AM)
for the "new" broadband plans, there is NO termination fee after 7days cool-off period lahh.

it'd be best to terminate AFTER 5months of usage so that u'll get the full use of the RM150 upfront payment & RM18 per month (after RM30 rebate).

if u dont like, terminate on the 6th month. bite ur hands/curse daily from month 1-5 biggrin.gif
*
it sounds rebate, but actually used up our RM150 as rebate. if we terminate in 5 months , rm150 stil gone.

thanks for the picture, this should be updated term & conditions in form as in no.1 & 3 match with thier website's current info.
that is good news & fair since no termination charge, the only not good is the quota only 1.5G.

and, these packages r applicable for all people including those non-postpaid/non-maxis customer right? b cos data card provided.

QUOTE(shadow111 @ Mar 31 2010, 09:17 AM)
even if confirmed now hor, later if wan to terminate that time.. they still can deny everything lor..
last time i sign my streamyx package with the free modem. that time the guy said the modem is FOC, dun hv to return/etc..
mana tau when i terminate my streamyx, the TM guy ask me to return my modem. I argue and said last time the guy said it's FOC.
he said it's FOC to be used when I'm still subscribing to streamyx, once i terminate the line.. i hv to return bck the modem.
i was like  vmad.gif  luckily i still hv to old stupid zte modem n return bck to them..
kns 1..
*
yes. they seems like they say anything they right.
but the FOC modem they mentioned actually is based on 'rental', user pay for it actually for rent it but not own it. so it cant call as FOC.

maxis bb speed REALLY REALLY depends on area.

this is speed at my uni at Petaling Jaya
[attachmentid=1511124]

*
shocking.gif 11Mbps ???

i nvm heard any 14Mbps package.
yo time period almost same, both at 2-4 pm. could it be uni / campus or education places given more higher speed?

11Mbps is suitable for downloading, but the quota too low. else, if normal surfing, check mail, i think 0.74mbps is enough.

think it's better if you get from maxis center and ask them to update the latest firmware for you.
hassle free this way..

yes all modem can unlock, as the firmware/software inside the device is a program. if u r powerful programmer, u should able to do it.
u see iphone also can be unloacked.
as well as got people do it and publish/share, we r able to get unlocked thingy.

of couse unlocked thing is not fair to those original device owner/company.

It's a service.
By the way, you can actually eBay the unlockng service by paying a little penny.
zwanvedder and I both provide free unlocking.
Just PM us, we both will give you free service. Any of us. He said he will. xD

*
it is hard to saiy it is illegal or not illegal, company A given some services & product, but others use thier product & service to use for others purpose, it is counted as 'lost'of profit to company A. and it is not fair to company A.

or let say u r magician, u create a magic techniq, that magic techniq is yo business 'tool' for earn profit, and at same time someone 'unlocked' yo techniq and they use it for business purpose, then u lost some profit, an , that is not fair to u.

I don't game, but I surf a lot. When I'm still using DiGi EDGE in my hostel, I use slightly more than 100mb per day. At home, with 1mbps Streamyx, I can go near or over 1GB in a day. 1.5GB quota sounds like a joke, but I assume I can upgrade whenever I want, so I start small.
*
i sure that u downloading, normal surfing would not hit 1G per day.

QUOTE(dyaf @ Apr 4 2010, 10:29 AM)
Ok, i called the customer service yesterday, from what i understand is that when you exceed your volume limit, your speed would throttle, for e.g. you start off with 7.2 Mbps, once you reach 1.5GB, it would cut down, may be half (may be 3.6 Mbps).
And if you continue to utilize more, it would cut down more (may be now 1.8 Mbps) and so on up to the point it is very slow but it would not stop entirely lar i heard, just probably not useful for video streaming and gaming anymore. The throttle happen phase by phase.

Maxis reserve the right to decide how much they would cut down the speed stated in the contract. So, the cut by half is just my theory. It could be that they would immediate cut to 128kbps or lower, who knows.  The customer service agent also mentioned that if your speed has become too slow, you can always go to maxis broadband website to increase the FUP, it would be billed later to your monthly fee. Not quite sure what is the amount, can check yourself. Basically, you can increase or restore your volume allowance when you want it if the speed is too slow for you.

So basically, I would say, you pay what you get. The less you pay, the less you get. which is fair lar IMHO.
*
when rearch 1.5G , speed throttle, then will b be charge fo extra fee?

Ok, I get the rough idea. I just want to make sure that it won't become RM78 after certain promotional period.

With the great deal, who wouldn't want the package with modem? There seems to be no extra charges after all.

There's also Advanced Lite Youth for RM48/month. The difference I see is only no free modem and larger quota per month. Assuming I'm a very casual user, it feels that the normal RM48/month with modem package is more worth. laugh.gif
*
only not worth is quota only 1.5G. need maintain 50Mb everyday. it is very fast to getting 50Mb perday as if 1 email has 10Mb attachment, 5 email would used up 50Mb.

QUOTE(dyaf @ Apr 4 2010, 06:34 PM)
No, there is a setback cautioned by the service agent. If you are getting the package with rebate RM30 every month. If you decided to terminate before the 5th month. You would loose out your rebate. That mean you are buying the modem with RM150 which i think it is not so bad either lar. Modem nowadays more or less this price anyway. Btw, the modem is most like lock to Maxis. So, you would need to do something to unlock it. So, the only risk is able to unlock or not. If cannot, then keep the modem as Maxis souvenier lor like key chain may be . Lol....

Probably for kiasu people, they would stick to the plan for 5 months lar.

Actually, based on my experience with wireless broadband. The first month is always the most important month for you to decide to continue or not.

If you do not have the connection at your area (which quite common because different providers have different focus on the coverage area. Sometimes the package look attractive but no point if your area have no good connection. Got coverage also no use one lar.). You would likely to get a very bad or not usable at all connection which i don;t think you would want to stick to it more than another day .

Yeah, i feel the way too. Unlike other operator, you would need to beg them for refund on down payment. Feel sad when need to travel here and there just to get the down payment. I think at work also not that hardworking ah.  biggrin.gif

the old RM78 permonth plan is based on contract or not? it not, it wil auto change to RM48?
