FPS games kills yourself.

Diablo 2 Online (1 min average only 30~90 kb)

To save yourself from exceeding that.
Cache the webpage/website that you often visit.
But I don't think this really save you. xD
Just an idea anyway.

I don't game, but I surf a lot. When I'm still using DiGi EDGE in my hostel, I use slightly more than 100mb per day. At home, with 1mbps Streamyx, I can go near or over 1GB in a day. 1.5GB quota sounds like a joke, but I assume I can upgrade whenever I want, so I start small.

is it consistently this speed when downloading after exceeding the data limit?...wow, looks like Maxis is not reli capping their speed at all!!!...

pls advise me whether does the speed still stays consistently fast even after u've exceed ur data limit....COS i'm considering of trying out Maxis icon_question.gif icon_question.gif ...currently using Digi..

its not consistently faster

maxis capping is quite efficient but sometimes we get lucky n get normal speed~

if you connect then try speedtest n see ur speed is normal speed just stick with it n dont disconnect...

Ok, i called the customer service yesterday, from what i understand is that when you exceed your volume limit, your speed would throttle, for e.g. you start off with 7.2 Mbps, once you reach 1.5GB, it would cut down, may be half (may be 3.6 Mbps).
And if you continue to utilize more, it would cut down more (may be now 1.8 Mbps) and so on up to the point it is very slow but it would not stop entirely lar i heard, just probably not useful for video streaming and gaming anymore. The throttle happen phase by phase.

Maxis reserve the right to decide how much they would cut down the speed stated in the contract. So, the cut by half is just my theory. It could be that they would immediate cut to 128kbps or lower, who knows. The customer service agent also mentioned that if your speed has become too slow, you can always go to maxis broadband website to increase the FUP, it would be billed later to your monthly fee. Not quite sure what is the amount, can check yourself. Basically, you can increase or restore your volume allowance when you want it if the speed is too slow for you.

So basically, I would say, you pay what you get. The less you pay, the less you get. which is fair lar IMHO.

According to them. No.
But it would be slow, slower and slowest but not stop.

Actually, 1GB download is very easy to reach in few days. Just try out this using U-Mobile. $$ gone testing the prepaid.

Does it come with maxis modem? Because i think maxis is not using the same HSDPA modem like celcom or digi.

lol.. just live with the throttle speed since it's so expensive to buy extra data volume.
better still, just sign higher quota if you expect to use more every month.

correct. there's no plan that can fit nicely to each users here.

each user will need to manage their usage and "forecast" their average usage.

to begin using any services, subscribe the lowest. this is to gauge services and performance during the first few months.

If u feel u need more data volume, then upgrade to higher plans or buy more quota.

1) upgrade to higher plans = recommended after u know how much volume u use monthly.

2) buy more quota = only on certain months u need more volume than your average. <-- if u keep buying quota every month, then upgrade to higher plans.
