hi everyone..
i just borrow the maxis bb from my fren. when i plug it into my nb (win7), it will detect it and 2 drive will appear on my nb.
inside one of the drive, there is the installation for the maxis device.
once the installation has been completed, my nb will then try to detect the device again sweat.gif
this will keep on going like forever. when i try to click on the maxis shortcut, it will launch the GUI but then give error like hardware not detected or something.
I try to reboot the nb and same problem.

i have tested this on another nb (win xp) and pc (win xp), all with same results. rclxub.gif

anyone have any idea what i'm doing wrong here? thanks.

Try go device manager which can be found under.
Right click my computer > properties > some random tab > device manager.

Then, right clck the devce manager and click scan plug-in of al hardware or something like that.

Yep, you are mistaken.

The software is include inside the usb modem.
Which it autorun itself, due to autorun.ini or something similiar.

If you mind, can you give a complete detail, cause I'm kinda confuse with da above text.
I wish I can help you
Or I will try to refer.

Added on March 22, 2010, 4:37 pm
Okay, I try to refer your text again.

1st, did you run the pc as admintration.
2nd, if you did, try uninstall everything was included in this, and install again.
3rd, plugging in to different port will not effect this.

4th, if you found you can't use the "Maxis Broadband.exe". You can/should try to config a network by your own.

By doing this, I think...
It's just difficult to explain it here.
Fine, I'll upload some pictures here.

5th, if you found that the usb broadband driver can't install properly in any pc, try contact Maxis.
*
this is what i did for all the 2 notebook and 1 pc. I am using admin account to install it.

1. Plug in the device and system will detect it. then 2 drive will appear. one drive cannot be access 1, the other can access. inside it, there is the installation files.
2. Install the maxis files and once it's completed, a shortcut for maxis will appear on the desktop. after that, it will try to detect the hardware again for some times. i did left it running for more than 15mins and nothing change.
3. Cannot tahan, restart nb/pc and plug in the device (nothing happen and it won't detect it anymore, so the 2 drive earlier doesn't appear again). When i click on the maxis shortcut, it will give an error.. something like hardware not available.
4. Remove the installation.
5. Plug in the device, and it will detect it again and the 2 drive appear back. do the installation again and it completed successfully like earlier.
6. After that, it will still trying to detect the device after that.

Btw, me and my gf are both IT ppl, and we still cant get it works..
we tested on 3 diff nb/pc with same results... sad.gif
hope u can understand what i'm sayin..

juz now, i borrow celcom one from my fren. plug in the device and install the software. after installation completed, it will ask not to remove the device. then the system will detect the device another time and after that i can straight use it.

Note, don't use extended usb, or those 4 prt usb stuff.
If I can, I will remote access your pc and check up.
But bandwitdh problem, I not likely will do it.
Did you try the thing I showed you

By the way, before removing a usb driver, you should click "safety remove "................." " first.
And what's da "2 drive appear" you meant?
*
i tested without using any usb extender/etc.
didn't manage to test out the step you provided as i have to return back the device to my fren.
if wan to borrow again, hv to wait till nxt week dy.. sad.gif

oh well.. i tested celcom bb yesterday.. connection not that good at my hse..
not sure whether it's cause by the weather or not as it's very cloudy with occasional drizzle..

alrdy decided to subscribe the maxis later since it comes with 7 days return policy.
hopefully, the connection is good enough at my hse to surf net/etc.

Call the support center again this morning.
Told her that after apply the win7 patch, it still cant works.
then tell her again the whole story.. mad.gif

I am able to install the software and after the installation completed, my nb will try to detect the modem to install the driver.
then it will give the error below after some time.

user posted image

then she ask me to open msconfig and disable all startup program. I tell her, i'm using company nb, so cannot disable them due to access control n security policy set on the nb.

then she ask to check whether got proxy setup for IE or not. i say got. then she said cannot help me as i need to remove proxy or something first. I was like WTF. this got nothing to do with my problem at all.

Then i also lazy to argue with her. i ask her, if update my firmware from the maxis self help page, will it void my modem/etc?
she said wont.. so i just update my firmware and the dashboard software. After that reinstall the modem again.

This time, it manage to install it.

user posted image

just now tested it and it's working now. will test it out later at home to see whether the line is stable and coverage is ok or not..

Thanks to cybpsych for his help on the self help page.. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

hey guys, sorry if its been asked b4 but does the rm48 promotion with free modem comes with contract period? Upfront rm150, rebate rm30 for 5 mths pay only rm18/mth then 6th mths onwards pay rm48 thru out or back to rm78/mth? if terminate after 5 mths can ar?
*
i just sign up this package. let me give you a clearer pic.. pls correct me if i'm wrong.. blush.gif

when you sign up, u need to pay upfront rm150 and they will deduct rm30 for the next 5 months.
let say you sign up the rm48 package. then you just need to pay rm18 only for the first 5 months.
actually for the first 5 months, u still are paying rm48 each month, just that u already paying up-front rm150, so they deduct rm30 each month from there.
the maxis ppl told me that if i were to terminate the line anytime, i dun hv to give back the modem, but the rm150 upfront is not refundable.

Yep,
firmware is one of the major error.
I'm facing the similiar problem too.
But, I can't.
Congrat to you mate
*
thanks for yr help too.. they can save user like us a lots of hassle if they straight ask us to update the firmware.
for those who are facing same problem like me. you won't be able to flash the firmware from the problem nb/pc since the firmware update software will need to detect the device first.

in order for it to works, you need to have the broadband device working first on other pc. I did manage to install it on my w2k workstation.
from there, i upgrade the firmware and the install on my problematic win7 nb. rclxms.gif

u can *manually* remove & reinstall the installed driver:-

1) Install the Maxis Mobile Partner <-- this installer installs the driver + install the dashboard software.

2) Go to the Mobile Partner folder (inside Program Files).

3) Locate the Driver folder <-- Backup this whole folder cuz it contains the WHOLE huawei modem driver for ALL operating systems smile.gif

4) Execute DriverUninstall.exe <-- this will uninstall the driver. Windows will 'forget' your huawei modem and starts to nag for driver biggrin.gif

5) After removing the driver, run the DriverSetup.exe <-- this will install the driver and Windows will start to autodetect the huawei modem components.
BTW, Maxis' driver package is v3.05.00.00.

The latest driver package from Huawei is  v3.09.00.00
Follow the steps above to remove the Maxis' driver and install the newer driver package.
*
any benefit if we update the latest driver?
