REMARK:
If you try to install any of these drivers without modification , you will most likely get this error:
"nVidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."
This is because of the restrictions of driver itself. To solve this issue and install the driver as it should be for your graphics card, you have to use 'Modded INF'.
So,after download the driver from the laptopvideo2go.com, it must download the appropriate Modded INF file from the same webpage.
1. download the Modded INF file from the same webpage u download the Driver.
2. extract the driver file.
3. copy and replace the Modded INF into the extracted folder.
4. then click in extracted folder and run Setup.exe file.

REMARK:
Some of forceware driver can optimized the graphic performance, but some of forceware driver also can SLOW down the graphic performance too.
Before update forceware driver, it is suggested to use Driver Cleaner Pro

Guideline to use Driver Cleaner Pro:
1. Download the Driver Cleaner Pro, and install it
2. Uninstall the Graphic Card Driver, from Device Manager
3. Reboot, then stop or exit the ANTI-VIRUS SYSTEM
4. then run the Driver Cleaner Pro,
5. reboot, then install New Forceware Driver

tis is xps m1330 using 8400M GS...just update the driver....run smoothly in crysis.....
he use driver 169.01....

Good job and great idea. Rather than just linking, why don't you make a how-to on install modded driver on Vista?

I don't have laptop for months now so I forget how I did that for my former 7900gs'es. Since it's about 8xxx series, maybe it would slightly different than how it was on XP. I don't have Vista so guys, enlighten.

u download the driver n modded inf file. then u copy n replace the modded inf to extracted folder...
driver cleaner pro is to use to deleted the file u cant deleted...tis is for once uninstall the driver, it sure hav left some file on windows...
so use tis cleaner will deleted the file u dunno....usefull software...

i tried it b4....i tried is 169.09 de temp is 50celcius....169.25 temp is 60
overall ok....will increase temp..cos giv gud performance..

chika correct u get de point....js increase not much la...but i din try de 17xxx driver yet

Sad to say though, that the 9 series GPUs are on their way into the market. Well, it is good, but bad in the sense that the 8 series would be regarded as obsolete. With the exception of 8800m GTX and GTS. These two are really beasts.

ya 8800m gtx and gts are hot gc in market...future 9 series will hot...our 8400 and 8600m will retired....haha.....

lol it's not ur fault. I was saying it to subrok. 9800m gtx is on it's way as we are talking right now.

Still, that won't change my decision on waiting further more. All i am waiting for right now is a black chassis. Then, I'll get my laptop right away.

then 9 series will put lauya lauya one like 9400 M GS....Now 8800M GTX / GTS is cositing like bomb ...malaysia cannot get but taiwan and US , Europe can get it..cost twice higher than desktop 8800GTS / GTX

after upgrading my ram to 4gb, i notice there's an increase of share video ram
about double from 700 something to 1535mb

the reason y they sold expensive is the graphic card veroboard n thin compare v desktop....again the heat issue n small....

after upgrade rating bcome 4.6
not de lowest subscore...lowest subscore wil determined the lowest point...

my window index for 3d graphic (graphic memory) is 4.7
but for GPU oni 3.7, tat's my lowest
i wondering shared video memory can help in better performance or x

I am sure Dell will make 9xxx series available in matters of time. Clevo promised to deliver 9800m gtx, so let alone all the lower-mid range 9xxx series.

I have waited for months now and I am right on the edge.

174.31 give the best 3DMark06 score, game also smooth. but it has some bugs.
i recommend 174.20

i upgraded from 2Gb to 3gb and yet no increase in WEI. not even 0.1. still the same old 4.8...

now i'm using the 174.20.

mine is 8600M gt... 174.20 no prob gua.... i play CnC3 smoothly. can set high settings. now thinkin whether i should upgrade to 4gb or not... cuz i thot vista 32 bit oni recognizes 3.5gb?

my laptop is dell XPS M1530... laptop RAM kinda cheap now. thinkin should upgrade or not... and after upgrade, should change to vista 64 bit or not. LOL. if change to vista 64 bit, most probably have to use the "ahem" version.

i'm wondering whether we can use ddr2 800mhz, cuz d price x much difference, jz dunno bout d compability.
i'm using 667mhz however.
since u'll be using ahem version, no harm giving it a try la haha
but i'll stick v my 32-bit for now la, no time to reinstall oso, bz v exam haih

maybe you can try to play at lower resolution. Crysis need high spec hardware. i think 8600M GT just cukup-cukup makan (med setting)

i just got the Crysis CD. i'll install and play this game later.

i heard after DRR3 RAM come out DRR2 RAM price will increase. so i think it is better to max our laptop when the price is cheap.

ya 8600 gt js cukup-cukup saja...but i experience b4 is when original dell forceware driver, i play cysis totally cannot run at low setting even low resolution....after i updated the forceware, play crysis run quite smoothly in med setting n 1024x768 resolution...

yeah, it also depend on your mobo. so your laptop BIOS show 4GB?

about SP1, we have to wait until the "official" release
if microsoft still cannot maximize 4GB RAM with SP1, we still have hope for SP2 in the future *finger cross*

but it's always better to have more ram, if u can afford it
plus laptop there's nothing much u can upgrade on to improve the performance, unlike desktop

when i was usin my laptop with 2gb ram, most of the time 50% utilized and if i do my adobe photoshop and illustrator, hit 70% easily. plus next semester i'll be doing some video editing.

did u install any mods on your Crysis? You mention high, I supposed it's XP. I have seen people playing mixture of very high and high with 8800m gtx. Keep us posted.

On WinXP ( can never bring myself to actually install Vista) + fresh Jack Sparrow version Crysis unpatched, untweaked lor..

Auto detect at 1680x1050 is all high but is a little choppy for my liking.

On 167.43 drivers.

are you underclocking your GC?
GPU Clock and Memory Clock is lower than default setting

There are some mods out there that really boost the performance. I have seen a video of a person playing @ 1080p with some very high and high settings. The graphic wasn't slowed at all. Anyway, it's not a must. As long as you enjoy ur rig, that should be fine.

I myself for once, never care about 3dmark at all.

i oso agreed v derred....actually wat u feel the performance is very important. rather than js c de 3dmark....sometimes it will wrong too...
suggested ingame playing then feel it the performance overall....

Any 3dmark score for this 8400M GS..? My sister need a lappy, so if the score satisfy enuf then i will recomend a lappy that got 8400M GS. And what the normal price if the lappy got this 8400M GS..?

if u wan play high end game eg:crysis then update...if u play yahoo game then i think not neccessary....hehe...ur interest la
if u din oc then sure wont over heat...but update driver will increase slightly heat...
i hav play game all the day v latest driver.....
download the gpu-z will check ur heat of gpu n other info of gpu..

i now getting 174.20 driver...then will benchmark 06 on it...previous original driver 159.XX is score 17XX only

I already Do a benchmarking on World In Conflict...Very Low setting on 1280x800 result is avg 34 minimun 18 maximum 108 , Low setting on 1280x800 is avg 34 minimum 16 maximum 96 , medium setting on 1280x800 is lag , quit on half way almost all screen run at 4-5 frame per second only
