but..if i stay at the same school till I completed my 5 years, is it that i ll be automatically accredited without the need of submitting portfolio? And..every university in Australia has changed their final degree offering to Masters and most of them have gained recognition by AACA and RAIA. Will LAM recognize the change as well?
*
the process is the same. when each school is recognized by LAM, all u need to do is submit ur portfolio. they need to review the portfolio to prove that u are who u say u are, and that u really did go through the process. it's just procedure of declaration, bcoz accreditation means license to practice. and license to practice means authorizing projects that may or may not affect other people's lives.

and yes, LAM recognizes masters as well. what matters to them is the level that attached to the degree, not the title. if u sit for a PhD that qualifies u for a part 1 or a diploma for part 2, they'll recognize it.

hi azarimy,

wondering if there's possibility of redirecting route from interior designer towards becoming the architect? from my past understanding is that there it was possible by completing a five year degree with interior architecture to proceed into study as a second year or third year architect student. unsure if is possible to do that locally or overseas. but understanding some issues back then, another question is are graduate students from overseas to return home be eligible for LAM part 1?

glad u could enlight on that. many thanks.

ID has 5 years of degree? i'm pretty sure they're just 3 years only.

that aside, yes, after ur degree in interior design, u could join up part 1 architecture at 2nd year. there is a possibility that if ur degree shares similar subjects with the architecture degree, u could transfer enough credits to join straight to 3rd year. u could do this locally or internationally.

finally, if they graduate from RIBA or RAIA accredited schools, they should be eligible for LAM, depending on which qualifications (part 1 or 2).

polytechnic diploma in architecture uses the exact same curriculum and syllabus as it is centralized and managed by the ministry, and has more or less the exact same facilities, which is also managed by the ministry. so it all boils down to the expertise of the lecturers, and the bunch of people who studies there with u. so in our eyes, one poly is as good as the other. my suggestion, choose one that is convenient for u.

yup azarimy, it was long time..the degree was call the bachelor of arts in interior architecture, the three years serve as a diploma in interior design which most of it's module to cater the direction towards interior architecture. it was a long story, will try to cut it short. These are creative professionals who do not only plan and design public, commercial, recreational, institutional and domestic buildings, but are also responsible for and qualified in the management of the implementation of such projects.

well, it was an interesting course for such program to be offered back then when it's a rare opportunity of twinning and credit tranferance with few architecture creditable universities international. somehow in the years, i have lost track. and the new modules doesn't serve that way anymore and it was only perceived as an interior design course. which somehow saddens the interest.

that's how your topic title interest me to look out more... =)

Is studying architecture really that EXTREMELY tough which tends to make you give up easily ? I was being optimistic about this course till when everyone else keeps telling me its very stressful , tight schedule , hardly any sleeping hours , loads of assignments...well not to say im exaggerating or anything but i'm just not prepared to face ''hell'' just yet sad.gif

first of all, who is everyone else? are they students of architecture? or just people who heard about studying architecture from other people?

schedules are not that tight. design is like cooking, if u prepare early, u have ample time to make sure everything is cooked well and prepare for the presentation. if u do last minute work, u food would be raw, the presentation is ugly, and most importantly, u wont have time to compensate for emergencies.

there are few assignments. infact, architecture have less assignments than other courses. but one of assignments - design - takes a helluva lot of ur time. a design project usually takes 3-4 weeks. and u'll be doing that day and night "cooking" the design. the bright side is, u dont have any exams for it. hell, i remember my time that we only need to sit for 1 or 2 papers during the entire exam week. lepak doh!

so is it stressful? again, it depends on who u're talking to. i manage my time properly, so no, it's not that stressful. funny thing is, even those who find it stressful will tell u that they're addicted to it. yes, by the end of the day, architects will be addicted to stress. it's the whole adrenaline pumping hours near the final submission that everybody just love!

everyone else as in my uncles/aunties/parents and some of my acquaintances.I somehow liked the way u described design is something like cooking biggrin.gif What a sigh of relieve after knowing that architecture isn't that really that tough and stress. All i need is a good time management and not procrastinate my work.Thnx for the heads up arazimy.

wow..i juz found out this tread even though i've registered for this forum for quite a while already..and now im in my final year doing part 2.Should have know this earlier and share a lot of stuff here.

For me, after my 6 years studying architecture from my first year, all u have to do is do ur work smart. If u start early and you know what ur doing..there should be no problem at all. Time management is the most important thing which also require a lot of discipline. Don't get too carried out with what people complaining about their miserable life because they study architecture. It depends on how u look into every task ur doing. If u don't like what ur doing, then better make up ur mind fast. Architecture is something continuous and even u have spent a year and doing various tasks, u will realize u will learn a lot in the process. Experience u gained will help u a lot and thats why architecture is not the same as other profession when u can only sit on ur comfortable chair, open up u books and get straight A's in exams. To be successful, u need to go out there, open up ur mind and gain as much experience u can get as this is a hands on course. It may be hard for the earilier part of ur study but it tends to get more easier when u have got the experience which are handy in the process of solving everything that is related with architecture.

Btw..congrats to azarimy...i may get inspiration from this tread as i go along with my study or even with my profession later..thanx again

de uni college mentioned tat the cert is awarded by curtin university of technology..
n is recognized by PAM as being equivalent 2 de part 2 of de registration examination..
wat does it meant??
does it means tat we r classified s 'PAM equivalent part 2' grp after we finish de course??
or it means tat we nid 2 pursue 4 another 1 or 2 years 2 take de part 2 exam of PAM after tat??

welcome to the architecture thread.

first of all LAM does not recognize twinning programmes. that includes partnership programmes like the one in limkokwing as well. yes, LAM do recognize curtin's degree as equivalent to part 2, but that's IF u do the degree there from 1st year till the end. being part 2 equivalent means u can just come back to malaysia, sit for the interview and register without going through the exam itself. after that u can practice immediately.

my suggestion, if u wanna get a degree from curtin, do it there. save urself the hassle.

unfortunately, LUCT and UCSI do not offer part 2 degrees. only part 1 equivalent. so no.
