I really need some help here. Does anyone know how does a waterfall glass wall's sectioned part (that shows the internal structure and functioning, including the hose/pipe that deliver the water from the bottom to the top) look like? The one you normally see in houses or hotels with a transparent glass wall and water cascading down all over it. I need some detaillings on it like the structure, normal measurements etc. I've been searching all over the web but I can't seem to find a diagram illustrating it in detail.

I heard someone gets a place in USM. Well, congrats and welcome onboard! I'm sorry for abandoning this lil' corner for sooooo long. Been very busy actually. I heard someone attended the 20th Architectural Workshop too? Show urself! Maybe I've seen you during that week... Or vice versa.

QUOTE(yuexia @ Jun 18 2008, 09:15 PM) i'm here to express my gratitude to everyone who helped me during my application and interview for UTM architecture. Congratz. This thread did help me a lot last year when I was busy making university choices and interview preparation. and i got it!! XD so thank you...especially to sir azarimy for this thread. though i'm still a lil uncertain about my decision, but i still feel very happy to know that UTM actually thinks i'm good enough for them (or maybe i have the potential for development, heheh) ^^ and that i have what it takes [albeit only initially...??] to become an architect! you have no idea how much that means to me. seriously. i feel totally confident and top-of -the-world after the UTM interview. so THANKS A BUNCH!! *hugses* |

QUOTE(bononoz @ Jun 19 2008, 09:59 PM) Hello again , and thanks for your help about the interview process.. i got architecture at USM Basically everything you gonna need can be bought there. But if you have already had geometrical tools, watercolour and colour pencils (serious!), do bring along. Don't forget your brushes and pencils too. Other archi tools can be bought there. You'll be told what to buy and where to get when starting your studio classes.now, any suggestions on things we should bring/get ready before going for archi course? QUOTE(verz84 @ Jul 8 2008, 10:51 PM) wow..i juz found out this tread even though i've registered for this forum for quite a while already..and now im in my final year doing part 2.Should have know this earlier and share a lot of stuff here. Ah we have the boss of USM architecture here! Welcome... (Yes, I know who you are... For me, after my 6 years studying architecture from my first year, all u have to do is do ur work smart. If u start early and you know what ur doing..there should be no problem at all. Time management is the most important thing which also require a lot of discipline. Don't get too carried out with what people complaining about their miserable life because they study architecture. It depends on how u look into every task ur doing. If u don't like what ur doing, then better make up ur mind fast. Architecture is something continuous and even u have spent a year and doing various tasks, u will realize u will learn a lot in the process. Experience u gained will help u a lot and thats why architecture is not the same as other profession when u can only sit on ur comfortable chair, open up u books and get straight A's in exams. To be successful, u need to go out there, open up ur mind and gain as much experience u can get as this is a hands on course. It may be hard for the earilier part of ur study but it tends to get more easier when u have got the experience which are handy in the process of solving everything that is related with architecture. Btw..congrats to azarimy...i may get inspiration from this tread as i go along with my study or even with my profession later..thanx again |

QUOTE(yuexia @ Jul 18 2008, 05:25 PM) guys, need your opinions That's kinda expensive for a not so impressive list of specs. I don't know if 15.4" is necessary, but I'm using 14.1" and my senior who's using the same size too is doing fine with it. The 667MHz FSB is outdated, since now lappies are gearing towards 1kMHz FSB (I bought mine last yr and is a 800MHz). But 667MHz is ok if you're not tech savvy who wants the latest and fastest in everything. i am going to buy my laptop for use in university [architecture year 1]. i went through various university websites that state their laptop requirements for architecture students (mostly US unis) and the following is what i compiled: - - Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0+ GHz or AMD Turion 64 X2 2.0+ GHz - 2+ GB RAM - 120+ GB Hard Drive (5400 or 7200 rpm) - 802.11g Wireless Network Support - USB 2.0 / Firewire (Firewire is optional but helpful for video work) - DVD Burner - 10/100 Ethernet - 128+ MB dedicated Video Graphics Card (avoid Intel or integrated graphics) - 15.4”+ widescreen notebook display [is this really necessary?] - External optical mouse - 3 year on-site/at-home warranty my budget is around 3500 (is it too low? Dell Inspiron 1520 - RM3, 506.00 - Intel® Core2 Duo Processor T5750 - 2.0 GHz, 2MB Cache, 667 MHz FSB - Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium 32 bit SP1 Edition (English) can anyone tell me the difference between Home Basic, Premium and Ultimate? - 15.4" Widescreen WXGA (1280x800) Display with TrueLife - Memory: 2GB (2 X 1024MB) 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM - 250GB SATA Hard Drive - NVIDIA® GeForce 8400M GS with 128MB GDDR2 dedicated graphic memory - 1-Year Limited Warranty (Next Business Day Service - parts & labour) [Extra warranty means extra cash >.< or does anyone think i should get a 3-year warranty? i'm going to be studying in HK so...sigh. i don't know. maybe i should get one because i don't know anyone there who can fix my laptop for me] - Integrated 10/100 Fast Ethernet so...anything else i should consider? any other brand recommended? help really really appreciated >_< i don't know anything about laptop specs before yesterday =_= You can visit Windows' website for more info on that. I'm usng Vista Premium, which offers more eye-candy features than the Basic one My graphics card is an nVidia 256MB 8600M GS which offers a far more greater performance than the entry level 8400M GS. There are better options one like 8600M GT (Dell does offer this IIANM) which is faster than my 8600M GS. But I don't think you'll need too strong a graphics card. As long as it's a dedicated graphics card (means not built-in like Intel) will do fine. As for memory, the more the better. 2GB is the standard you'll need at least nowadays. You can add more rams if you like, but mostly 50-60% of the 2GB are used up during all these processes. 2GB is actually quite sufficient. Added on July 18, 2008, 6:31 pmBTW, I'm using the NEC Versa E6310. * Why NEC, you ask? Bcos it's a rare brand and is not so well known among students here, unlike the ubiquitous Acer, Dell, HP/Compaq. This post has been edited by europology: Jul 18 2008, 06:34 PM |

QUOTE(verz84 @ Jul 18 2008, 08:30 PM) wah..europology..i got a clue d..going to hunt who u r... KKK I seldom take my laptop anywhere... the most is within my hostel... if u got that budget..i advice u get urself a desktop as well..maybe bulky but then..peformance compared..desktop far more better than lappy in that range of price..but again it depends on u again..if u move alot..then laptop may be a good choice for u..but if spend most of ur time in studio, like me..then no trouble for having a desktop.. |

QUOTE(yuexia @ Jul 21 2008, 02:07 PM) well, the reason i have a RM3500 budget is actually because i thought a 15" is a must and 3500 is the lowest price i can get for a 15" laptop with other specs that i want. if i were to get a desktop, then i'll have to ship it back to Penang when i come back every summer? Mine's around 5k, but if you're on a tight budget, choose Dell then. Acer offers some tantalizing package too, but ahem... I don't encourage ppl to buy Acer due to their poor quality control and pathetic customer service.i went to NEC's website but why aren't there any price quote? >.< i searched other websites and came across one that says 'e6310 is no longer available from the manufacturer' i realise if i want a nVidia 256MB 8600M GS ++/2GB RAM/Vista Home Premium/Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T7250 (2.0GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB) laptop, there's no way i can get one for RM3000 and below. so i think i have to go for the processor with 2.0 GHz, 667 MHz FSB and NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8400M GS with 128MB GDDR2 dedicated graphic memory because i think i have to pull my budget down to RM3000 and below. and it's true that i don't need the fastest and the latest...simply 'fast' will do |
