Disappointing as no males but did saw one medium size one which i didnt catch.
Saw wild chickens there, rooster and hens which flew away. There is good soil there which I collected to
plant plants.

Added on January 9, 2008, 11:54 pmWorth a try. Man has successfully bred many types of seemingly impossible to breed animals eg panda, arowana and all sorts of CITIES ones. It's not really that hard to breed fighting spiders. It's the rearing of the young that is tough.

After that bro2 is takut even though fed with mosquito filled with blood on the 2/1/07
One week into Jan - 2 brothers are no longer takut and will always gear up for a fight
This shows that popular believe that light coloured spiders with white legs are lousy fighters are true only
to a certain extend...that's because they have just newly shed their skin. Given time when they mature and their
exoskeleton hardens they can become formidable warriors. People who used to catch spiders only see the spiders
at one point in time. No one really follow how spiders can peak in their fighting performance over time.

The males were pretty hard to find. The type of plant they made their nest in was for me the first encounter as the
leaves were small and soft, not typically spiders like as a heavy downpour would certainly spoil the nest. However most

probably the dense banana trees helped to soften the impact of raindowns.

Even though the area is invested with natural food source, the spiders are not large. This gets me thinking food
availability does not wholly dictate the overall size of population.

Didnt expect much and did not get much either. Caught a fat mature female, saw a female with eggs but did not catch it. Last minute as i was going home and was getting dark, i caught a small male in soft leave creeper leaves. Also some areas with fighting spider young but cant find the adults. Caught a hantu kuning male. Saw a big monitor lizard swimming along coast of lake.

Venue type - Public park but hot(meaning place where lots of spiders) area is behind some rich houses, quite unaccessable to general public, no one wants to go there anyway
Plant type - ALOT of ground creepers, lalang and plants-shin-deep. Near hot area are fruit trees, small soft leaves plants and long leaves plant, pandan.
Insects - lots of mosquitoes, many fruit flies, gnats, ants, grasshoppers

This is one heck of an adventure.

I used to catch here way back in the 80s when I was form one, form two. Back then the hot area was a slope area of wild pepper leaves behind a couple of houses. The spiders then I caught before got big ones but I remember they dont fight well or rather not really ferocious. Also one day when I was going there, a six foot cobra i think cross my path! But it didnt deter me, I still when ahead to catch my spiders! Back then also I remember had water rats there.

Now some parts of it is already been develop a bit better but now... the path to the hot area seems even harsher! They are shin-deep and thick and if I didnt where my long tracks it would be hell to walk through a hundred meters or so through those plants.

It's been a long long time(20 years) since I've been there and I didnt know what to expect. So i just walked. I tried to walk along a drain near the backyard of the houses but then a couple of small dogs ran out and yelp so I walked further away from the houses. I saw some trails that look like flatten plantation here and there and I followed them, thinking well someone may have walk through these wilderness before. I started off by catching a hantu kuning male at the base of a banana tree and as I near the old hot area I realize the slope area I used to squat around is now behind a fence and the wild pepper plants are gone and replaced with tall trees and shrubs the land claimer has planted. Also the house owner near there also seems to have planted other plants like pandan leaves, bamboo, bunga raya plants outside the private compound which I can just walk right up to. But I didnt go up to it first but walk around the area further from the houses where there are some short trees which I tried to find spiders. The plants away from the houses are those small soft leave plants and grasses which are not really conducive for fighting spiders. However to my surprise I found 2 small medium size males wandering about there. It was then
4.42m and I saw some clear areas under a small tree and as I look some more, I saw some feathers on the ground on a small patch of clear land. At that time, I taught gees... dont tell me got musang here. But this is in the middle of PJ. Just as I walk a few more steps and turn to look behind some shrubs, I saw a HUGE monitor lizard and it saw me and it scrambled away. Damn was I startled! It was about just 6 feet away and was probably basking in the sun. It was about 4 feet in body length (excluding the tail) and had a fat stomach. Damn, I didn't run away but thought it was better to walk the other way! Slowly I approach the backyards and the plants I saw was more of fighting spider favourite. There were LONG leave plants. I saw a small one here and there and knew some where must be a hot spot.

Then I came to this patch of land cleared away by someone to plant a coconut tree there. There I saw a male peering around for food. After i caught it and standing in the same spot, I saw another male with female to my right. Before I catch it, I peered around and saw ANOTHER male to my left looking around for food from a nest. Further to my left I also saw a big female peering out from its nest(got eggs and I didnt catch it). As i was about to catch the spider to my right first(which eventually was the biggest one..big guns), a third male was walking up my leg! Also a female was walking nearby...apparently I probably stepped on a nest as I was trying to catch the male to my right! Long story short, I caught all 3 males. 5.15pm. Suddenly large rain drops started hitting me...but I saw another nest (same standing spot)and decided to just tear off the leave. Another male! That makes FIVE males on one standing place!! Now this is what I call a rich area.

Before I could celebrate, it started to rain cats and dogs. I walked quickly(can't run...the growth around is too thick) to the land patch which had been worked and seeked shelther next to a large bunch of bamboo trees. but it was utterly useless as it was raining as hard as hell. I was totally absolutely soaked to my underwear. Drenched. I had to keep my camera in a plastic bag. I hang around there for maybe 15 min and then said wat the heck, might as well walk my to my car as it was also getting late. So I made my way back through the thick growth in maximum drowpour, back to my car which was another probably 400 meter away including through the park. Back on the park's walkway, I walked passed people shelthering under some park shelther but I didnt stop. Finally I reached my car and started to drive back...and then the rain subsided. Around 6.00pm. I made a puddle of water on my car rubber flooring and though... what a evening, but it was well worth it.

5 turned out to be takut!
Dont know wheather fighting them at 8.00pm has anything to do with it. Cause the spiders are not vigourous and looked lethargic and wanting to sleep.

So big gun is now currently 3rd king because it beat klang1 and klang2.

Yeap, the black one. But usually it izit so dark. Normally its colour patterns are like the first picture(just posted) in this forum. But they will turn darker as they grow older or kept in dark containers which I don't recommend.

This is actually a sad story. Firstly I didnt catch anything on today because it started raining heavily 5 mins after I got out of the car. Enough time to take some pics only. I waited for about an hour but the rain didnt stop so I decided to balik.

But sadder still is because this spot is going to be gone forever as development has caught up. Earlier last year I discovered this spot because my wife worked nearby and I wandered around when I could see some undeveloped area. I caught many large and good fighters from here. It was really a rich(many spiders) area. Unfortunately at that time I didnt buy my videocam and digicam yet so I have no pic or video documentation of my catch and fights back then.

But now 3/4 is behind a zinc fence where new buildings are coming up leaving a small patch...i dunno still got spiders there as I also realize there is a lot less insects there now. In probably a few more months or weeks I think this place will be flattened as well...sigh. I'll be coming back soon to quickly save some of the population and maybe deport some of them elsewhere. Meantime here are some pics.

Yeah, guess u're rite as breeding encompass rearing the young as well. I meant mating them is not that difficult as long as you catch virgin females... yes, these spiders seems to breed only once in their lifetime. Once after a female has eggs it seems impossible to get them to mate again. I have a video on their mating. Will link it once I post it up on youtube.

Actually after form 2, I too sort of stop playing spiders too cuz of SRP and spiders seems like a small kid pastime. Boys were getting interested in girls, video games, sports, cars and other stuff. Strangely I remember I started catching them again when I was form 6! That was because at that time I went to stay with my grandmum in seremban and her house has a huge garden with natural living fighting spiders! I even purposely went to collect wild pepper plants and plant it in her garden and after several months I caught a couple of large males!(usually their size only medium small). That time I played fighting spiders to relieve my stress as i was studying like miminum 3-4 hours a day during weekdays and 6-8 hours a day during weekends. Gees, form six was tough. Luckily fighting spiders save my sanity..hehe.

Nowadays, hardly anyone catch them, because the living environment for most kids is so different from last time. Xbox, network games(I too was once a starcraft kaki ), internet and astro are so much more interesting AND COMFORTABLE options i suppose. This bring us to the fact that there is a very very big deterent to catching spiders. MOSQUITOES. Haha. Without proper attire and a good MOSQUITO REPELLENT, even I would't want to spend half a minute in those type of environment where you would expect to get many spiders. (Even though I am immune to mosquito bites, meaning I dont get a reaction when I get bitten. Not immume to deague or malaria though, how i wish)

Proper attire
1. Long tracks(the plastic type)
2. Shoes and long socks
3. THICK T-shirt(if u wear thin t-shirt, u mati la...those mosquito will bite right thru it)
4. For mosquito repellent I recomment OFF! cream. It is better than citronella based ones. I also sometimes have a citronella patch on my shirt for extra anti-mosquito power. Get them from a pharmacy. I make sure I apply cream even on my face, forehead, ears, back of neck and back of hand.

For gear, I have a waist pouch, about 10 small transparent pill containers, a pair of scissors and a large transparent plastic bag and a small one to catch some insects for my spiders while I'm there.

That's it, with a canon ixus I'm off to document my adventure.

Yeah.. in the morning wanted to go for jogging and plan to try search for fighting spider also.

My house front area have some bushes so i go check out.. whoila.. got fighting spiders. Try check in between the leaves got about 2 males spiders. Check here and there found more spiders ! Some are young average size spider about 5 sen size, and some adult spiders.. about 10 sen size. Since its just in front my house area, i decide to go jogging 40 minutes 1st, later only come back
catch some to take pics.



After jog, check the spiders still there. Caught the 1st one.. abit averagel size.. Easy catch.. just put it into a toothpick plastic case. Saw an adult spider, try to catch.. but its run and jump off from tree
very fast.. Seems like my spider catching technique karat ady... Try seach again in between the leaves.. found about 2-3 of small spiders. Duwan catch coz too small ma..

Later caught an adult spider.. bigger than the 1st one. I just let it jump onto my finger..

About like 10 sen or my thumb fingernail size

I tried let the spiders fights but the small one seems kecut when see the big ones.. he just fight awhile den ran off.

So i decided to release the small ones and try find another bigger adult spider to fight. Found another leaves with spider inside.. i try press the leaves slowly.. an adult spider run out and jump off.. it ran too fast ady. This spider is definitely big.. i think its bigger than the earlier adult spider i caught.. to bad man. I should use the big plastic case to scoop it.. but cant coz i put the earlier catch inside ady..

Try search some more but all small spiders only. Since cant find any other adult spider to fight, i decide to release the earlier adult spider back to where i caught it earlier.
Its just in front of my house only.. i feel its better to let it roam free and find its own food.

I got some video of the spider caught.. but short clips.. quality oso so so.. coz hard to control 2 spiders and camera at the same time.. lol.. will try to upload here later.

Wow.. that kind of place u go for spider hunting.. maybe good for snake hunting too

He's an expert.. check out his equipment and clothes when go for spider hunting.
See the video also.. his spiders also are good fighters.

If me... i don't dare to go those high bushes which is dense and deep deep area ....duwan to get scared by snakes or lizards.
I prefer go those area which got daun sirih, banana trees, or those short less dense bushes.
Normally i just open the leaves which have spider nest, press it slowly and let the spider come out and jump onto my hand.

Went for another spider hunting this evening, this time at my housing area bananas tree.
Caught another average size adult spider. This one its nest is quite big coz its a banana tree. Saw few dead insects inside its
nest. After few attempts managed to get the spider out from its nest. Hurray.

normally their nest is in between leaves stick together with their web,last time used to catch them in my neighbors garden

I think in the jungle like TS always go and catch that type of place the spider is really really fierce....Not like in the pandan leave one....haha...Whole body black in color also very fierce and it is always a male.....

U are most welcome. I also feel wanna share my spider experience with some nice pics since mindstorm also share his great spider catching n fight experience.

Today not working.. plan to go catch spider again.
In the morning try search again at my house front leaves trying to catch back the yesterday adult spider tat i release..
Search for few minutes but no luck.. seems he went out hunting ady..
After search few minutes cant find any male spider.. i decided to call it off and go settle some of my office report.

In the evening, plan to go find spiders again.. wanted to find another male spider to fight with the male spider i caught at banana leaf yesterday.
Went out from my house and try search around nearby leaves. Found a female spider. Decided to bring home as partner for the earlier male spiders.


Wow.. the female one look fiece also when saw the male spider.. seems wanna fight. Yeah.. tats the toothpick case to keep the spiders. Top got few small holes to allow toothpicks to come out.. now it allows air in for the spiders.



After the male saw the females spider... it starts to shake n move closer.. the female saw backoff and ran .. the males just follow the female spider.


After few rounds the spiders run here and there, i put both the spiders back into the toothpick case.



Go out to front house leaves again for search spiders again..and lucky me.. this time saw another male spider... i think is the yesterday male spider. Surround the spider with my hands, it cant ran so just jump onto my hand..

Ok.. its time to Fight. Take out the banana leaf spider but the female spiders also come out.

Oman.. 3 spiders on my fingers now.. 2male and 1 female.



2 male on 1 finger.. One is ready 2 fight liao.. one still looking at the female spiders..


The fight starts.. the female also seems excited and get ready with fighting position.
The banana leaf spider is more stronger.. after few pushes with its fighting arms and 1-2 bites..it manages to scare off my house leave spider.


2nd round, fight on taperware cover. Again the banana leaf spider won. He's fiece and strong.





This is the winner. Banana leaf spider!!




Keep both spider in a separate toothpick and put in the middle of taperware fill with water to avoid ants going there to eat the dead mosquitoes and also the spiders. Plan to keep temporary as pet. maybe will release it once bored.

Both the male spiders i've caught are consider average adult male, only about 10sen or thumbnail finger size only.. The really big one i saw last time.. long long ago when i was small.. the male spider is really big..about half the thumb finger, long legs even when walk also looks tall, big and thick arms.. The biggest one of coz i saw in Chinese newspaper... tat fighting spider arms is damn big and thick.. like crab.
Very difficult to find catch big fighting spider.

I used to search for king also. Really brings back memories..
They used to have tournaments at school, me and my gang all fight each others King. Dont bother to catch them anymore, I "tormented" them enough already.

That first place is your garden huh? I wish I live in a place with natural population of fighting spiders living outside my gate. Nowadays many housing area is devoid of fighting spiders because before housing development starts the whole area is usually clear right down to the ground...only can see yellow clay soil. Hence hard to get spideys. Like the place i'm staying now. SS2 is one of them..i used to live there...cant seem to find any there.

I notice however KL and north to KL like TTDI, Ampang, Wangsa(and now like your place) have older housing areas and have natural population there even in the house gardens. Yeah when i was a kid i used to go around people's fence where their plants grow out and catch spiders there too. Now adult already cannot la... sure people will dial 999!

I remember in singapore once when i was cycling i saw a group of boys kena tahan by police because they climb into people's house to catch spider in their garden. Neighbours called police i think because the owners were not there. Then this boy held up a big transparent plastic bag full of spiders!! He didnt bother to separate them in containers maybe because too many... i saw like got 6 or 7 males in one plastic bag. The two adult policeman also scratch head...maybe cuz they know the boys are harmless but just naughty. so they dunno wat to do. I found it so funny last time. hehe.

Wah. Your banana leaf spider size look quite sizable la. Not bad. Wanna challenge my big guns? if can win big guns then can challenge big head. hehe..

One of your pictures while fighting the spider was quite blur. What happened there? Kena throw izit? Hmm...but i think not, looks like maybe rushing forward... cuz the other spider still displaying fierce stance.

Why not name your spideys? I name my spiders cuz sometimes i catch so many of them i dunno which is which so i give them funny memorable names.

heh. not expert la...just someone very interested in fighting spiders. I have a character that when i am interested in something, i will go very very deep into it..researching it, studying it, trying new stuff. I like to try stuff other people havent try before...

i grew up in nature environment mah cuz my grandma's house is just beside a secondary forest. But now also partly developed. The forest used to have wild boar, wild chickens, sang kancil..yes mousedear.., spider monkeys,musang and i believe got malaysian panther. but now i think most of these animals all gone.

i thot i was very nature person until i talked to one of my ping pong kaki(i play table tennis). Wah this guy even more keng, he is a magan guy(fix car bodies) and he loves fishing...but not in normal lake but like to fish deep in jungle lake...where no one goes before. i hear his stories also shiok. The places he goes are like pahang jungle where got tiger also. That i really scared. He also catch monitor lizard with his bare hands. Maybe one day i will follow him.

Yeah, didn't expected can catch my favourite spider just in front of my house. LAst time my mom got tell me bfr got saw green stripes spiders in the front house garden but i didn't bother go and check it out. My housing area is near the top bukit area, Puncak Setiawangsa. Last time use to be alot of trees there , due to housing development, some hill were blown away by dynamites, trees were chopped down. There are still quite a lot of green in my housing area..sometimes at night can see small Fox.. running on roof top of my neighbours house also. Sometimes can see small snakes, big centipede and frogs also.

Yeah...the banana leaf spider size is just like a normal average adult spider. The banana trees seems dying coz partial of it been chop off.. i found the spider in between one of the leave.. and from its nest size and all the dead insects in there, i know ady.. that male spider sure is a strong fighter type. Its the only spider i can find there.

Even before fight with my house garden spider, i oso bet the banana leaf spider will win. Both male spider about the same size, the 1st fight on my finger is quite exciting, both fight fiercely and i can see 1-2 chom bites. The 2nd fight last quite short compare to the 1st fight. I noticed my house garden spider use different fighting arm position in 2nd fight, start with normal fighting position then when close, both its arms are high in the air follow with a direct to standard fight.

From ur spider fight video, all ur spiders are very fierce type... they fight bitting each other and flipin here n there.. damn scary.. Lucky none of ur spiders break their arms or get killed during fight.

Last time i saw my skool friend fight an adult spider very fiece type with another slightly smaller adult spider. The fierce spider fight for short time using its arm and few times strong bites on the slightly smaller spider. After losing, the loser spider seems weaken already and walk like tempang abit... but its owner still put it to fight...The fierce spider saw it and just Terkam and kill off that weak spider easily. FATALITY. Some other fights i saw,, the stronger one fight fiercely, bite and breakoff its opponent arm.
Man.. i hate to see spiders dead or injured badly in fight.

Not sure whether i will keep the spiders for long so i didn't give them names. Last time oso i naber give name to my spiders.

One thing i realize different about the spiders i caught recently and the one i caught during my skool days is the current spider doesnt seem want to drink any water when i drip the water near. I just put some water at the bottom of the toothpick case, hopefully it will go and drink when thirsty.

Last time during my skool days, the spider i caught, normally i drip some water and the spider will go there and drink.

Nowdays i have less time to play wif spiders not like last time can play with spiders almost for whole day.

Added on January 16, 2008, 9:44 amYesterday evening i've caught another female spider slightly bigger than the earlier one. Let both the female spiders fight.
The new female spider more fiercer.. with few fighting position, scared off the other female easily.

Decided to put the new female 2gether with the banana leaf spider..still no fight.. the female spider just ran off when see the male spider come closer.

So now i've 2 males and 2 female spiders. Keep both male & female spider in each toothpick case so they wont feel bored.

This morning when i was about to go off to work, i saw a male spider in between some leaves near my house bench where i usually sit down to wear my shoes. The male spider seems quite big but since i'm rushing to go to work.. late ady.. i decided later after work only and try catch it.
Hopefully its a big and strong one!

You can actually see which spider initiated the chopping/biting action on the first youtube link very well.
I counted 8 attempts at biting in the 7-second fight.

Quietman (the winner) has biting attempts #1, #3, #4 and #8 (last one, that won him the fight).

2-Big has biting attempts #2, #5, #6 and #7.

used to catch everyday after primary school session ends at my grandfather's dusun.. among all the ones i've catch, the rambutan tree spider is my best spider. lol. now the whole place is full of bushes which i dont even dare to step in without proper protection coz i heard ppl saw snakes in my grandpa's dusun.

from what i noticed, if ya spider is a bit cowardice or lost a fight, put them outside of the house over night. it'll rejunivate them the very least.

Wah, so one bite each followed by 2 chops whereby 2-Big did not run, then followed by 3 chops! which QM did not run and one last chop which won the fight. Talk about counterattack!

Fight analysis is a great topic to get into. With so many variety of moves, it's no wonder fighting spiders are so interesting to watch. Here I have a few interesting moves.

First, we have the doubleflip. The doubleflip probably occurs when both spiders try to grab each other with their HIND legs at the same time and they are fighting on smooth surface like this glossy side of a peeled-off sticker paper.

yeah..i saw that research paper. Very scienficially written with words like conspecific haha. Actually i used to study in NUS... i got a zoology degree from there. But all the time in singapore as an adult...i study and work there for 5-6 years i didnt play spider. it was during as a child...primary one to primary four when i stay there because my father work there at that time that i became crazy about fighting spiders. The whole school boys was fanatic about them.

Caught the spiders early this week, didn't feed it with much nice food.. just plain dead + sumtimes alive mosquitoes & small insects. Spray some plain water to keep it moist inside the case and drop some water at the bottom of the case. The spider seems not thirsty at all.

Only can play with the spiders for a while after work at home. Yup.. the video quality is from Dopod 838 pro and Casio dig camera... din take properly coz no skill.. and wanted to c the spider fight oso worry the spider will jump and run away. I don't have much time to train or play spiders nowdays coz bz working..

So how many spiders u have now in total? Plan to keep it till grow into big spider? I'm not sure how long is the spider life. The most i kept bfr is about 1 year only. U got plan to breed it and sell ?

So far cant find any pet shop selling fighting spiders.
Maybe can make good money oso. Young male 1 for RM 5, Adult male - RM 10. Strong fighter - RM 20
Female - RM3.

I've 2male and 2 females.. thinking of release all at my house garden except the strongest male.
Too many spiders need more time to take care of them.

Now got only 4 males. 2 female with eggs. 1 female carrying bighead's genes. And 2 males but havent change skin yet to adult male. We know it is males because of their big "teeth".
When the eggs hatch from one of the females then i will have potential 20-30 babies! This will be first time I try rearing from hatching to adult. Wish me luck.

usually the area must have a few criterias
1. shade
2. supply of insects (plants in the middle of roads you wont find)
3. fairly large flat leaves with no bulu
You can find them between the leaves. The easiest places to go is your normal housing area where there are alot of plants with overlapping leaves.. safe and easy or to some deserted plot of land in housing area also got

You from subang? I dunno subang got or not... to me seems like dont have....too barren and clean and hot...
but if u can get good la...i from puchong can easily come and we can have a spider fight!

haha more ppl play good la, then i got kaki.
These spiders dont bite la. Even if it trys to also cannot penetrate human skin... but golden spider can...

I believe there is other ppl still play, but many of them not so canggih come on to internet forum to discuss...

U got poke hole at the top of the case right? wa.. the leaves plant put inside water can last longer. My toothpick case very small n cramp, smelly also when the leaves dry out + dead insects smell.

Last time i keep my spiders in Trebor sweet case, poke few holes at top of the case using nails. Easy to carry around, i even bring my spider back to my hometown for CNY. . Spider are easy to keep, just feed them with insects + water. They can live long.. if keep it properly its case surrounded with water around to avoid ants go eat the spider. Keep them in good temperature, not too cold or too hot oso. Last time CNY when i go pai nien, i left my spider with case inside car with abit window open.. After came back from pai nien, c the spider dead ady ... I think the weather is too hot ady and inside car, its even hotter.

The spider i saw few days ago when tying my shoe bfr i go work ran away ady.. cant find it.

Today caught some small green flies to fed my spiders.

After feed the spiders, went out and caught another big female spider. This female is much bigger compare to the earlier 2 females spider i've caught earlier. Defeated other 2 females spiders easily. Release the smaller female spider back 2 my garden.

OMG!!! this is real nostalgic one!! i still remember i play this 'laga spider' when i was young. i have my spider which is the king at my kampung once. but died bcos of too old. it is really hard to breed this spider. love it. good thread.

This evening, i went to my neighbour banglo house swimming pool to swim. I know his house back near the swimming got garden.. so bring along empty spider case to catch spider.

Manage to find few small spiders, din catch. Later found and caught 2 female spider. One quite big.



Cant find any males..decided to go into the swimming pool swim awhile.. feel abit disappointed coz cant find any male fighting spiders.
After swim few minutes decide to go look for male. Finally able to find 2 male spiders. 1 average size adult, and 1 big adult spiders.
The Banglo big spider is bigger than the banana leaf spider!





Later night at home, its Spider fighting time!

Well hopefully. I believe fighting ability genes can be passed down. If by selective breeding we can get tougher fighting spiders then the fights would be longer lasting.

Heh.. if male fight with female, how to continue the species?!

My female normal size only.

See golden spider(named by my fren and me because of its color) female below. Also known as the mangrove jumper(actual common name). Actually size for size golden spider is considered the toughest and fiercest jumper spider i know(maybe got some others i dunno know yet). Their body is like a tank!
If you put a fighting spider there, there is high possibility your fighting spider kena makan even though they are nearly the same length. They will even attack face-on and pierce their big sharp teeth directly into the head of a fighting spider if the fighting spider does not raise its fang fast enough. They can easily attack from side or back...any direction. Pretty scary. I used to play a lot with it last time because my house in SS2 got a mango tree full of it. I find the female golden more fierce than the male although the male got very long fangs which is bend inwards when resting. When it fights, waloa, u can see its very long fangs. I think my fren kena bitten once by them....maybe he can tell u the story...he is none other than Mangrovejumper!

Golden spider are tree spiders unlike fighting spider(which are shrub spiders). Last time I usually find them in rambutan, mango or kelapa sawit tree. If ur garden have a old big rambutan or mango tree, probably u can find them too. They like to make their nest in dead brown leaves that happen to be still stuck to tree, but sometimes also in green leaves. They seem to like very dark nest so that if another spider happen to wander through, it will become food before it knows what hit it.

Top of my containers is actually cloth netting which i cut from leftover curtain cloth. The container i cut out one big hole mah. Then i just drip wax from a candle to seal the netting to the sides of the hole.

Yea, never put spider in car unattended. 100% die when sun comes out.

When bighead was caught (by Dan Lam aka Mangrovejumper on 25/11/07)...it was quite pale it colour. It lost to lumpy even though lumpy was smaller. Bighead top, lumpy bottom.

I give it some water to drink, it drink very long. I think if you have a male that havent changed skin, best to give it a lot of food and water before and after it change skin...i think it will kembang more, hence you get a bigger spider.
Dunno true or not, just theory.

I think i will name it blurman cuz it looked quite blur. Anyway it is not big, small in fact.. maybe after 2 weeks i will fight it. Now sure kecut.

Wa.. u use candle wax drip to seal the case, very creative.
Yesterday, I bought a small bette housing, mostly small hole. Only have two slightly big holes, place to feed. I just cover it using cardboard paper with double tap.

Ya, last time was my mistake.. i thought if i unwind the car window abit air can flow in and out tats why i leave the spider inside the car. The hot air ventilation in the car is too much for my little spider to bear.. surfocated till death.

Ya..this morning i let the spiders fight again.

Banana spider vs Banglo spider - Banglo spider won.
Short fight also. No match at all. Banana spider was defeated easily. Not fierce like last time when it fight my House Garden spider.
I didn't expect it to lose easily to the Banglo spider. The Banglo spider is only slightly bigger and it arms are longer abit.

After some consideration, i decided to release all the male and female spider to my front house garden, only keep the strongest Banglo spider.
Its easier to take care. Plan to keep it till it grow Big big..

Your spiders also big and arms also wide. Can see clearly in the pic and videos. Very fierce oo..
Fight with ur spiders? Your are in Puchong and i'm in KL leh.

Your spiders drink water alot? All the spiders i caught seems duwant to drink water when i drip the water near them. I just spay some water into the spider case just in case. It still eat fresh green flies as normal. Those small green flies we normally see in flower and leaves, not those big normal flies.

The fierce female spider sometimes will fight with the male spider also. It can defeated other smaller male spider.
Yesterday smaller male spider which i caught at my neighbour banglo also lost to one of the big female spider.
I release the male spider first to one leaves which already have spider nest, then i put the big female spider there also.
I saw both the spider fight awhile and the male spider ran away.

yea careful, dude. 1 of my friend when 2 hospital after being bite by a deadly snake while catching fighting spider "paw-foo". dont go 2 those places very dangerous may b got anaconda 2.. haha..

Fighting fish is too common ady.. Their fighting skill is so so.. more like for display only.
Fighting spider is difficult to find and breed. The big, strong and fierce ones is even harder to get.

I, myself as a fighting spider fan don't mind paying good money for a big and strong fierce fighting spider.

recently my house got many of those black color one, just like the one posted, but i didn't catch them as i don't know how to rear them, later ended-up like old times kept them til died liao.

I noe already!Last time I catch be4...It is gold in color.....And very huge and furry....And I ut 1 fighthing spider in he juz attack from the back and jump and eat.....Damn fast....

Yeah, its a cool insect. Their fighting skill is the best!!

Most of the time, the losing spider will just ran away. If fight with a very very fierce spider, the loser spider might end up with a broken arm, or got bitten to death. It will use its wide arms to grab/terkam its opponent and bite it fiercely till die without letting it run away. Normally the spider will
get ready with it fighting stance position and move closer to its opponent, it opponent will sense danger automatically "spider sense" and will get ready with fighting stance position also. When both spider is very close, they will exchange blows using their fighting arms, and try to bite each other when there's chance.

I've saw before my friend spider very fierce type terkam and bite its opponent spider which is still unaware/not ready to fight yet. The spider tat got hit by the surprise terkam attack will either die or injured and lose the fight. Only those really fierce and strong spider can give counter attack back like "mindstorm" spiders" My friend's big strong and fierce spider some time also fight direct with few spider one after another one and still win. Undefeatable. Seldom can get to see these type of fierce fighting spider tats on frenzy ready to kill off its opponent fast without waiting for the opponent to have a fair direct fight. Saw my friend bite his finger and squeeze out some of his finger blood to feed his fierce spider, he says this will make the spider become frenzy and hunger to kill..

I oso remember he told me his King spider died coz jump to a nearby kuali panas when he is playing spider in the kitchen.
Not sure whether true onot.. but his spider is really fierce and GANAS .

Ya.. he come out with all sort of crazy idea in spider fighting stuff. I now recall ady.. he told me tat he kill his other smaller/weak male spider and lets his King spider which is starving to eat as FOOD! . The main reason is to train his King spider to kill off/eat other male fighting spider during fight!! Tat is why his spider always terkam and try to kill other spider during fight.. been train ady ma.

He also the kejam type, press the female spider backside till kemek abit so it wont run away and let his King spider rape it.

Still can grow meh? After changing the last skin, i think spiders cannot grow any more leh... only abdomen can grow fatter la... i dont think the size of the head or arms can grow somemore.

Aiyah..got car one mah. Besides my wife's parents stay in Ampang. Is Ampang near Setiawangsa? Or can meet somewhere like Midvalley Pet wonderland. My bighead getting old oledi...soon wont be able to fight leow. Maybe this sunday i am free. Up to u ler... let me know.

Depends if hot day or one whole day din drink, sure to drink a lot of water. Without water, the spider will shrink.

Wah ur fren quite teruk... esp press the female till kemek.... this i never do before. Last time as kid i also got fight males sometimes till they die cuz the winner is too fierce. But now i try not to do it anymore... not so good thing to do to something that bring me so much joy. U still in contact with this fren ah?

i also tried before to let my spider drink my blood but usually they avoid. maybe unless thirsty they will drink? Walao, talk about self sacrifice.

But i also think that is one of the ways expert train their spiders, letting it eat other males. These guys are gamblers, they fight to win money, so they will do anything to ensure their spiders are killers. One of them i know is in seremban. I havent met him yet but i got his contact in Dec last year and may contact him this cny. In seremban he is known as "pao fu wong" (fighting spider king). They say he play spider cari makan. Maybe tomolo i let u know how i come to get his contact. Quite interesting.

Tomorrow morning will be going for a short spider hunt cuz not working tomolo. See wheather can get new first king.

Ya.. i saw bfr some of the fighting spiders quite big. Its arms and legs also very long whole size like 20 sens or about half thumb finger size.
Last time got one guy post his spider about 20 sen size.. its quite big also. I'm looking forward to catch or have a big fighting spider as pet.
I didn't keep in touch with my primary skool friend ady.. just remember his name is Saufi. He kept his fighting spider in matchbox. When his spider come out from the matchbox, it seems like wild and frenzy type movement ready to fight its opponent. His spider colour is light blue green and black type. Not like the normal light green black type.

This morning i've caught 2 average size male spiders from red leaves around my housing area jogging place.
The spiders are wild, ran very fast and not east to catch, I've to cut the leaves rear end part and bring it to open air before manage to put it into the plastic case.

Banglo spider defeated the Red leaf spider easily. Again just normal short arm fighting style only.. no grapping, bitting, throwing or counter attack.
Abit disappointed coz i tot the Red leaf spider can give some good fight since its kinda wild and hard 2 catch.

Later let it fight again but it become kecut ady, so released both the red leaf male spiders to my house garden.

Today tak jadi catch spider, too busy settling some other stuff.

Wah, your area really alot of spiders la. I see u go here and there also can find males.

Jeletek...you stay around there ah...heh. My wife work in Ampang Great Eastern mall la. Hey, don't meet also can fight our spiders! You pass ur spider to my wife, my wife bring home to me, I fight and videocam, then i feed it big big and pass back to you. Haha! Can trust me, won't harm your spider or exchange ur spider. I thought of passing u my spider but if u dont have videocam, rugi if got good long fight. Actually if ur spider can win bighead, i willing to buy from u RM20 if u willing to sell. PS. Kevin, i added u as friend in friendster.

Today fought blurman and bro2. Blurman lost. Push only but quite long. But I was surprise Blurman dare to fight...looks also very fierce when showing angry face. 2nd day after change skin only leh. Blurman i realize is not small, at least average size... arms also long. I can see his body not keras yet, the legs like still lembek, that's why lost to a more matured spider. I am sure keep longer sure can easily win back bro2 and can even win topman(topman being the winner in the doubleflip and throw prevention clips). Topman is small but a good fighter.


Actually in ANY fight, there are 2 important considerations wheather man or animal considering same species.

1. Size/weight - size/weight differences should be eliminated
In the case of fighting spiders - it should be size of head because weight ratio of food to body size is big hence a meal of a spider can change its overall weight tremendously unlike man which weight ratio of food to body is small hence for man weight differences is elimated by having weight categories.

Notes:
(that is why fighting between different species of different size like the japanese clips is crazy and unfair although interesting to watch. If like that, then on land, the south africa male elephant sure win everything)

(Bighead may not be a good fighter allthough it is champion now. It won all fights simply because of size. I have yet to see him fight a really good fight, that's why i started this tread, to find a challenger for him)

(In fights involving gambling, comparing size is the most important thing to do. No one would fight a spider or anything if they can see their animal is smaller... high risk losing. So fights usually involve same size. Animals that is smaller but can win bigger opponent, they call it money [animal], because they are good fighters and can win their owners money. Because gambling got odds mah, example if mine is smaller i can bet 1 to 3 against a bigger opponent)

2. Age - Age inevitably affect the performance of any living thing. All animals will have a period of
peak performance in their live time. No fighter can win forever because no living creature lives forever. You don't expect a small baby or a oldman to win a fight rite? Hence the trick is to catch them at this period for the best outcome of a fight.

Having settle this 2 variables. The fight would be considered fair and square and other variables come
in to play which will determine the winner.

1. Tenacity/Willingness to fight and not give up easily (MENTAL)
This variable culls off a lot of lousy fighters
This variable can also be affected by letting the male see a female or let it win repeatedly to a smaller male

2. Fitness - a combination of strength(in the case of spiders/insect - toughness of exoskeleton also), alertness(accuracy/response/speed) and flexibility (PHYSICAL)
This variable can be affected by food, living environment and training (eg play with it, let it jump far, shake it and let it climb up its own web)

3. Fight techniques - everybody loves a good technician
Chop/"Sek pao" is one of them - the surprise element
Can be affected to a degree in a sense that chop can be spread(disease or learned?)


Choosing a good fighter to keep or breed.

A good fighter can ONLY be acertain if it has fought another good fighter. Therefore, any fight that last long would be by 2 good fighters wheather they win or lose. Hence both would be worth keeping. If 2 spiders fight long with each other the first time, subsequent fights between the same spiders would usually also be quite long considering they are kept healthy.(eg from my clips: quietman vs toobig, topman vs bro1)

A winner that fought a short push may or may not be a good fighter simply because the loser may just be kecut or very lousy. An example is Allblacks(gone already, lost it in my car). I thought it was good fighter becuz it won a lot of fights, but all only short push. When I finally fought it with stronger spiders it also fought short push and lost. When i finally analyze all its fights... i realize it never fought a good fight before...the most is one terkam only and only in one or two fights, so Allblacks was not a good fighter, then again maybe it is old already.

Good fighters
1. Last long in fights - graples, throws, bites, flips, attack side
2. Eventhough lose, it last 2 chops of more to a bigger spider
3. Eventhough lose, it dares to fight again in a short while.

The best fighters I documented would be quietman and scareycat. Quietman is actually slightly smaller than toobig but won both times they fight with exciting moves. Lumpy is bigger than quietman and although quietman lost but yet can put up long and good fight. Scareycat is smaller than quietman and although scareycat lost but fought until injured. Scareycat has another fight clip which proves he is one awesome fighter. It is unfortunate i am no longer keeping these two spiders. I only realize all of what i wrote above only after i release them.
