Yes it is true. The Amex Plat AF is non waiveable. Some folks here downgrade to Gold but they get to maintain their points.

@princess_autumn87,
Ah well... that's not new *gulps* Perhaps you could do what hye suggested; downgrade to Gold and keep all MR points, or pay the RM800 tongue.gif

Yeah , the amex platinum credit card AF will be reflected in statement not more than 3 months after account activation. I saw their longines watch promotion still ongoing, this is one of the gift you could grab to compensate your loss of RM 800 lah ... brows.gif

ok..it's like this...
American Express Charge Card- i) Charge card - you need to pay in full amount when you use it
                                               ii) no pre-set spending limit
                                              iii) no interest charge because you settle your account in full each month
                                              iv) 2X treat points
                                              v) this is a good card for those who always go oversea

not so good if you travel to China. Even in Shanghai, not many merchants accept AMEX sad.gif
Not sure about Korea/Taiwan, but i think Japan and HK will be very convenient.

In Japan, JCB are one of the largest card issuer there. Very widely accepted if you ask me. (At least from my observation when I was there) You should have no problems with VISA and MC but I'll avoid AMEX in the first place due to the higher management charge (compared to VISA or MC) when you use your card overseas.

Most major stores will accept AMEX , but in term of coverage i believe visa and mastercard are sufficient enough to cover you wherever you are biggrin.gif . I wouldn't go for JCB just for japan tongue.gif

having holding this amex for the past 10 years, base on my experience i can tell you that i will avoid using amex overseas when I'm on personal trip...the exchange rate back to MYR is always higher than that incurred in V/M cards..

Funny! Today I received an Amex charge card via Poslaju although I did not submit an application for it! MBB cc agent did approach me for Amex few months ago but I rejected the offer. How could the bank send the pre-approved card to me directly?

Anyway, I'll definitely cancel this card as I don't need too many cards. Moreover, Amex is not widely accepted in M'sia, and the 8x points promotion is finishing soon right?

I'd probably charge RM50 on petrol and thus I'll be entitled for a free laptop bag. After receiving the bag I'll cancel the card immediately.

For those who have already received thd laptop bag, how soon did you get your bag after receiving your 1st month statement? Did they charge courier fee?
