QUOTE(Dozz @ Mar 31 2008, 10:49 AM) From what i heard, first year is unable to waived but then subsequent years maybe ok to waive depend on the usage of your card. No. But my dad is considering and if he really apply for one then i'll just ask him to sup one for me. He got several Plat cards and all of them are free for life. MilesAndMore : are you gonna to apply? QUOTE(lauyamonk @ Mar 31 2008, 08:23 PM) Oh, i see. But i thought it is the Platinum Charge Card you cannot get the annual fee waived ?QUOTE(Dozz @ Mar 31 2008, 09:36 PM) hey guys! how many of you willing to pay RM23x0 per year for AMEX platinum charge and new credit cards? any opinions? My dad sure won't. LOL ! Because he is spoiled with this free for life Plat Cards which he have been using for years from Citibank, Standard Chartered and HSBC.This post has been edited by MilesAndMore: Mar 31 2008, 09:47 PM |

QUOTE(tishaban @ Apr 6 2008, 11:17 PM) The only credit card from Amex available in the US is the Blue card, the rest are standard charge cards. Not really. In the US, besides the Blue credit card (which is also offered in Singapore), there are Delta Airlines SkyMiles Gold, Preferred Gold, Business Gold and Platinum AMEX.By the way, an American friend of mine told me there is no annual for the AMEX Platinum credit card in US. I didn't believe at first. So i checked its website and my friend apparently wasn't bullshitting. So i think i will only get an AMEX card when i go to US next year This post has been edited by MilesAndMore: Apr 7 2008, 12:47 AM |

I have a few questions about AMEX Charge Card and AMEX Platinum Credit Card.
1. If i have no intention to convert my "membership rewards points" to frequent flyer miles, does it mean i do not have to enroll in the frequent traveler option, which has an annual fee of RM50 inclusive of non-frequent traveler option ? 2. Does it mean no "membership rewards points" for me if i did not enroll in the non-frequent traveler option which cost RM25/pa ? 3. Can the annual fee of the AMEX Platinum Credit Card be waived ? I know you guys have said it cannot be waived but in other countries, the annual fee of AMEX Platinum CREDIT CARD actually can be waived. Only the AMEX Platinum CHARGE CARD can't. Thanks. Appreciate it ! |

QUOTE(Shadowguardian @ May 14 2008, 02:19 AM) 1. Yes. basically if you dont wish to transfer points to partner frequent flyer, just opt for the non frequent traveler option. Thanks 2. Yes. No enrollment= no points =) its only rm25 p/a and points are evergreen 3. Due to the outweight benefits , all AMEX platinum cards are fee paying cards regardless of credit or charge =) QUOTE(Shadowguardian @ May 14 2008, 03:00 AM) What makes AMEX special are the wide arrange of benefits & recognition whenever you go,attractive rewards and a world class service to all card holders True. In US and some countries in Europe, AMEX is often regarded as the card for high society and is seen as more prestigious than other cards such as VISA, Mastercard etc.Would your card provider call you up to ask if you are okay or in need of assistance in the event of natural disaster struck the country that you're visiting? Would your other card provider go to the extend of charting a helicopter/flight to rescue/transport card holders that was stranded in a foreign country due to political turmoil/nautral disaster? Well AMEX does ..how i know? i did the calls ocassionally lol |

QUOTE(David83 @ Dec 19 2008, 11:36 PM) My point is to try to create a list of merchants that accept AMEX for new AMEX user guidance. I have listed the list of merchants that accept AMEX as a form of payment before in the credit card thread but i don't know how to dig them out now as i don't even know which version of credit card thread i posted it on.My next try will be Perodua SC and Sushi King. MilesAndMore, perhaps you can share your experience too. We can compile a list and TS to put in post #1. And by the way, Sushi King does accept AMEX. GAP at Pavillion (the shirt store) also accept AMEX, so i think it's safe to assume that all GAP outlets do accept AMEX. |

QUOTE(pmsoo @ Jan 23 2009, 01:58 PM) You also get buy 1 free 1 business class ticket (This is very very interesting) CIMB Enrich PLATINUM Only Not really because you'll be required to pay for a full fare Business Class ticket and a full fare Business Class ticket can sometimes be a little more expensive than a heavily discounted First Class ticket (KUL-LHR vv for example). |

QUOTE(tishaban @ Jan 23 2009, 05:19 PM) MilesAndMore can you give an idea of how much a heavily discounted First Class ticket is? I recently paid around RM20k for a (supposedly) full fare business class KUL-AMS ticket. RM10k for a biz class seat sounds reasonable to me, does the First class ticket go down that low? 20k for a return ticket in JCL between KUL/AMS sounds just about right. No way you can get a return JCL ticket between KUL/AMS for only RM10k. But if you want a cheaper JCL ticket to Europe and don't mind making a stop in the Middle East you can give Emirates, Qatar Airways or Etihad Airways a try. Usually a return JCL ticket between KUL/any EU cities in the deeply discounted JCL fare bucket is only RM15k on EK, RM10k on QR and RM18k on EY.A deeply discounted return First Class ticket between KUL/Europe is in the RM30k+ region. The new AMEX Singapore Airlines Gold Credit Card is suitable for you only if you're a frequent flyer on Singapore Airlines.

QUOTE(Dozz @ Mar 12 2009, 09:48 PM) hey man! same here... then you should apply this card too! i apply mine and approved within 2 days. My new card is on the way to my address now:) Too bad i'm not flying with them lot these days. Otherwise i would apply right away.RM2 for 2 miles really damn damn attractive! its even better deal than any credit cards in singapore! QUOTE(jack2 @ Mar 13 2009, 05:24 PM) Yes. There is an annual fee but they are having this promotion now which offers you 3-year annual fee free. This offer is available to both AMEX Personal Charge Card and AMEX Gold Charge Card. You need to pay RM25/pa if you wish to earn membership rewards point whereas it is free if you are holding the AMEX Gold Charge Card. |

QUOTE(David83 @ Mar 15 2009, 01:00 AM) Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer American Express® Gold Credit Card Please bear in mind that the annual fee for this card cannot be waived. The first year is waived but you'll need to pay for the subsequent year. Anyways, most of the holders are of this card are businessmen, i'm sure they don't mind. And by the way, this is NOT the card for you if you don't fly often with SIA.![]() URL: http://www.maybank2u.com.my/mbb_info/m2u/p...sonal/CRD-Cards |

QUOTE(ellimist @ Apr 15 2009, 10:22 PM) Quick question, why does one choose AMEX over credit cards, considering it's not so widely accepted in M'sia? Mainly because of the 2X points for every Ringgit swiped. Many big stores do accept AMEX such as Parkson, Isetan, Metrojaya, Jaya Jusco, Carrefour, Giant, Cold Storage, MPH, Borders, Kinokuniya, big hotels and SHELL just to name a few.Sorry if this is a silly question, don't know too much bout AMEX. QUOTE(David83 @ Apr 15 2009, 10:39 PM) This offer is available to both Maybank issued AMEX (meaning Maybank AMEX Gold credit card, Ikhwan AMEX Gold & Platinum) as well as AMEX issued by American Express itself. I'm a user of AMEX Green charge card and have successfully registered my card number yesterday evening. This post has been edited by MilesAndMore: Apr 16 2009, 12:11 AM |

QUOTE(David83 @ Apr 16 2009, 09:44 AM) I called MBB CS today and they said that the 8x is applicable in such way: Yes. Exactly what i said in my post earlier. Hence the used of "both". If you are using AMEX Gold credit card, AMEX Ikhwan Gold credit card or AMEX Ikhwan Platinum credit card, you will earn 8X TP points for each Ringgit swiped. If your AMEX is a charge card, you'll be rewarded 8x AMEX points (MR I guess) for each RM 1 swiped. If your AMEX is a credit card, you'll be awarded 8x TP for each RM 1 swiped. Anybody can do any confirmation? But if you are using AMEX Green charge card, AMEX Gold charge card, AMEX Platinum charge card or AMEX Platinum credit card, you will earn 8X MR points for each Ringgit swiped. Please note that TP (Treatpoint) and MR (American Express Membership Reward Point) are two different things. QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Apr 16 2009, 09:50 AM) @David83, Yes. You should refer to AMEX Membership Reward Point catalogue because you are using AMEX Platinum credit card which has nothing to do with Treatpoint whatsoever. Now that's weird because a couple of weeks ago I'd wanted to redeem some of my points and looked at the TP catalogue (I thought I was getting TP points) but the CS told me I should be looking at the MR catalogue because Amex reward points and MBB TPs are separate and different. Besides, have you noticed the bill for those cards governed by American Express itself (not those Maybankard branded AMEX) is issued from the American Express office in Hong Kong instead of Maybankard centre ? QUOTE(David83 @ Apr 16 2009, 04:53 PM) Correct. While AMEX Green charge card, AMEX Gold charge card, AMEX Platinum charge card and AMEX Platinum credit card users will earn 8X MR (American Express Membership Reward Point).QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Apr 16 2009, 06:01 PM) I check Maybank website again: This is because with AMEX Krisflyer Gold credit card you will earn neither. Instead you will earn Singapore Airlines Krisflyer miles. Something like CIMB Malaysia Airlines Gold/Platinum/World Mastercard.4) MBB Amex Credit Card Krisflyer = not mentioned is TP/MR QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Apr 16 2009, 06:33 PM) @David83, Yeah. No need to doubt anymore. Tinkerbell is right.I'm 100% sure my information is accurate. As Reventon has pointed out, Amex reward points are MR and MBB card points are TP! iYah.. trust me lah! QUOTE(Reventon @ Apr 16 2009, 06:35 PM) i've called up the mbb cs and amex cs several times to confirm and they can't confirm it too. I guess amex ( regardless what type ) falls under MR and visa / master TP. Reventon, i can confirm that if you are using Maybankard or Maybank Islamic AMEX branded credit card you will be earning Treatpoint instead of American Express Membership Reward Point because i was a Maybankard AMEX branded Gold credit card user myself before switching to American Express Green charge card a few months ago. And before i cancelled my Maybankard AMEX branded Gold credit card i had redeemed 3X RM100 Jaya Jusco vouchers via Treatpoint. Both has different catalogue and redemption points. QUOTE(StupidZ @ Apr 18 2009, 12:15 AM) If I spent at other place like restaurant, online purchasing, will it applied for x8? Well, it is stated clearly that the 8X promo is available only for petrol and and grocery. And restaurant is in neither categories. No 8X for online purchasing either as i believe there is still no online site selling groceries in Malaysia right ? |
