See? Even your rig can't render well already... imagine how long it'll take on mine

What's your computer specs anyway?

Mine's
P4 1.7Ghz
128MB DDRRAM
and a crappy PCI (or is it AGP?) Intel graphic card =\

Sad, I know T.T

chewxy.. looks very cool.. especially the red cells.. about the walls the cells running tru.. i dunno, it looks more like painted styrophome.. urm or how do u spell it.. hehe paiseh paiseh.. probably lack or shiny material to make it looks wet?? i dunno.. me still noob. hope u dun mind about the comment..

it's too good already.. like the main model in the FF movie smile.gif have to make it rougher a bit so it looks more realistic. smile.gif

PS. I suck at art LOL.. maybe if I had time and space and money (3DS Max is not cheap smile.gif )

Replies : Singleguy - thanks for your comments. The Bloodstream was rendered without lighing effects... My computer ran out of memory when I did lighting effects.

Regarding your animation, I think you can set your volume light fog density lower a bit... and I think use fractal, not turbulence.

haha.. i always face that problem too.. anyway i like the blood cells . never tried microscopic rendering b4.. hmm might try when i have the free time.

anyway.. about the light fog. ok. ill try lower the density.. and the movement of the smoke like behind. its actually. well i mapped a default smoke texture to the colour and animated it... instead of using "real fog".. save time to render. this render still itself (with 3 lighting.. main, kick and the point light as fog.. ) takes me about 48secs to render it at PAL.. high quality. dammit..

dunno whats wrong. it took me one whole night to render about 200 pages only.. darn it.

if only i have a render farm.. hehe

thanks .. of course IK and bones.. were not allowed to use mocap.. and personally i prefer IK_bones. cause it'll test out how far i can go and remain the true sense of animation. just my bits.. hehe.

anything i can changed to make it better??

came across to read your conversation.
I'm impress of your work in 3d.
I wish to have some guidelines on 3d and study by my own.
Just need you guys help on what software should i get, book
or etc. I buy 3d cds. I have no idea how it work.
Can said, all is useless cuz i cant play or run the program.
So far I able to do the 3d house design. I follow the tutorial given but
somehow got some problem with certain object. tongue.gif

So, I hope you guys don't mind of teaching and guide me in 3d
since i have no 3d base at all.
thank you.

hmm most people use 3D Studio Max and Lightwave
there're other programs like Bryce, Terragen, Rhino, Milkshape bla bla

but i use Zmodeler to build this car and many other objects
so i can export to any games due to low polygon

i also use 3D max for rendering and make some very high polygon shape for 3d abstract wallpapers

for example:
user posted image

this car took 2 month to finish because this program only support poly-to-poly modeling but its fun laugh.gif

true true...
the process of rendering is really time consuming
i prefer to render while i'm sleeping and combine them with premiere

using lightwave: they separated it into 2 programs.one modeler called 'lightwave modeler' and another is 'lightwave'.
in lightwave is where u place your camera and lightings.
modeler is where u model and put the materials.

from what i understand it is different things.ray tracing not sure what it is but i read about radiosity just now.To cut short it is about a way of materials or planes which can bounce light because light does not stop when it touch a surface so it bounces to other objects around it.in that way it creates a much more softer and realistic shadow and lighting.but to calculate the bounces of lights is really time consuming thus longer rendering laugh.gif like hell.

last nite tried rendering with radiosity and this morning woke up found out my cousin shut lightwave off because he thought the window hang coz everything is white.DAMN IT!!!

Raytracing = texture based
radiosity = geometry based

All got to do with lighting...
Radiosity and Light Tracer, are used for GI (Global Illum.) to soften the hard edges of direct shadows. Of course, you need to complement it with ray trace to do some nice caustic lighting. Dun ask me about caustics though... I left my computer on for 2 whole days to render 30% of a caustic glass picture.. biggrin.gif

If I were to on all the options, yay! I'll wait 416546641679465169132 years before a single pic gets rendered

HDTV size is normally at 1280x720 or 1920 x 1080. The one i rendered was at 1920 x 1080.Here's my new rendered scene.
In 'lightwave modeler' when u want to increase the reflection select the object then press Q tu name it.then click on the left menu for 'surface editor'.click that then from the list select the object that u named and increase the reflection number on the right.next go into 'lightwave' ,load the object, place camera and lighting you want and render press F9.hope that helps. laugh.gif

I've gotten so comfortable to the 4-view system of 3ds max. biggrin.gif Kind of forgot how to do 1-view... tongue.gif

OK, what you do is find the most bottom-right button on your screen. It should look like a scale button (or similar). Make sure you have selected the desired viewport, then click that button to make that viewport maximize within the window.

Uh..rendering speed depends on the processor tongue.gif The card merely displays what you see on screen, not the math processing.
Anyway rendered it on a P4 3.0E. I think it's time to upgrade to a dual or something.

Well, I suppose my 8 pipeline card can still beat your 4 pipeline, no? biggrin.gif Oh wait, my ATi 8 pipeline can beat some nVidia 8 pipelines! Enjoy! laugh.gif

Then again, maybe you should look at this and think hard about FireGL cards. laugh.gif

Trade secret. If I tell you, I'd have to kill you

Nah.. it's simple. texture. opacity 30%
The feel real part does not come from the glass.. it comes from the surroundings.

i dun remember much bout 3D anymore, but as i got through Gnomon Workshop b4, Maya do support hardware rendering. but... the performance of hard-ren performs very well in low numbers of rendering. hence, if u render an animation, computer power is still the main key.

p.s. guyz in 3D should really get hold of some Gnomon Workshop stuff. they teach pro-level Maya. things u won't find in books or e-books.

This is what I think :

I suppose that would depend on the thickness of the glass, the curvature etc. Refraction index is used for optics mostly (spectacles especially) It determines how much the glass "bends" the light that goes through it. So the answer is, it depends. How thick is your glass ? what is the curvature ? convex or concave ? both sides curved or only one side ? or maybe it's wavy ? all this will affect the refractive index. So there's no one RI, it depends on the characteristics of the glass smile.gif

But I could be wrong I guess smile.gif

lorh i dont convert lah
bcoz convert always got problem
and bugs
in my photo album of my 3d artwork...that one some of the model r create by 3dmax...some done by maya
the one that i use maya is backstreet and dynamics
other than that...all by 3dmax

3d modelling in 3dmax much ezier bcoz of the tools that provide here
like loft, boolean, etc....all ez to use
sumore ez to learn bcoz got alot of tutorials out there

maya....the best tools for animation
quite hard...bcoz very to get tutorial online
much ez to setup a character rather than 3dmax

i knew ud say that... (every people say that.... hmm... ) dry.gif

yeah... max is more easier to model stuff....

max is harder than maya in animation u say... (havent try doing any animation using maya), i find it quite easy doing animation in max...

i've tried maya before, it got a lots of cool stuff, like, hair, fur... etc. (built into it...)
unlike max, u have to buy plugins..... (that's the only thing i hate about max)
but maya's ui is complicated a bit.... (always makes me mad, and started banging
the keyboard, mad.gif "where the hell is the button for this....?") laugh.gif
(and sometimes, something weird always happens when i wanna put texture to my model.... the viewport goes black.... maybe maya doesnt like my graphic card or something... dry.gif )

but i still prefer max than maya.... (more comfortable with it..) biggrin.gif

POYOZER... ur artwork r quite good.. not bad... not bad at all....
play with the lighting a bit..... texturing can be improve a bit... in some pic., the
texture looks a bit flat.... n try using ur own texture, rather than using max's,
it makes it more better.... the bathtub n the sink, could use a bit meshmooth (the
edge is too sharp).....

just some comments...

im not n expert, im still learning too....

anyway

thumbup.gif teruskan usaha...!

cgtalk? wow segan la nak tunjuk to those pros...how about start little-little first...i think commenting on each other work here is a good start...

since we are students and enthusiasts (anyone here working in the industry?)...most of our artworks are incomplete (lack of detailing and tweaking) and test renders...but what the heck...comments yg membena are always welcome...

btw...thanks for the comments...maybe i'll take some time to refine them when i hv time...

After reading thru the tutorials i think 3d Max is the easiest among the rest. Basically how long does it takes to master the basics of the program? And i am running on a AMD 2.2 / 512 DDR/ FX 5200 DDR 256 do you think that is sufficient enough to run 3d Max?
