cgtalk? wow segan la nak tunjuk to those pros...how about start little-little first...i think commenting on each other work here is a good start...
since we are students and enthusiasts (anyone here working in the industry?)...most of our artworks are incomplete (lack of detailing and tweaking) and test renders...but what the heck...comments yg membena are always welcome... btw...thanks for the comments...maybe i'll take some time to refine them when i hv time... |

yup agree...3dmax is the easiest to learn...easy UI... got the best user reference and tutorials provided with the software...you can start from there...once you complete the tutorials gerenti no hal...
the works that i did (top of previous page) were done with P4 1.6 256mb gforce4 128m...choky at times but still stable... This post has been edited by aaeem: Apr 9 2005, 09:13 PM |

a decent rig is all you need...software and hardware are just tools...power is nothing without substance...great artist will use whatever tool at hand and make the best of it anyway they can...IMHO...

they're many ways to achieve PR rendering...the key concepts are...
-Global Illumination/Radiosity -Skylight/FinalGather/Lightracer -Image Based Lighting/ High Dynamic Range try look up in the user reference of your software or try do a search on google or cgtalk... regarding the settings...depends on your renderer...but basically it deals with "number of photons", "photons energy" and "sampling"... |

hi guys...just an idea to get things going on and exciting...how about we make a weekly 3d modelling challange...maybe modelling based on a theme?...this can be very inspiring and help anyone improve their skill, share ideas/design/techniques, build their portfolio and stuff...by modelling a common theme, it's easier to give feedback and c&c since we're working on similar thing...so how about it? love to hear what you guys think...

what i had in mind was for animating purposes not modelling or rendering...i know lightwave's modelling and rendering tools are on par with other "expensive" 3d software...but animation? hmmm...
