Most people don't even know what is DNS

Yes this is a fact. Most people only need their Internet to be working and able to access whatever websites they want.

Just found this site. Not sure if this helps if you want to know dns resolving speeds from your area. I disabled iCloud Private relay before doing the test

Which then begs the question: if not that many people even use 3rd party DNS to bypass blocks and most just surf mainstream sites using ISP DNS, what's wrong with leaving 3rd party ones alone? Why have to go as far as whacking DoT and DoH as well?

I know most people here know the answer, but just saying.

The majority only does not care until one day FB, X, YouTube, Instagram or whatever big socmed gets banned. Then all of a sudden these people will U turn and cannot trust government?

Malaysia style 'as long as it don't affect me' is topkek.

This whole thing feels like a sham without proper regulatory framework, lack of transparency and communication to the general public.

This would discourage foreign firms to invest in Malaysia especially for tech or Web 3.0.

Malaysian authorities and transparency are like oil and water.

Also you really can't expect them to work hard like the EU internet regulating bodies when they can justify any ban with 'foreign website will never acknowledge us. dapat request ban je terus' and then go out for their lunch.

Yes, but GRC does plain DNS lookup with no DOH, this online tool does that. GRC has DNSSEC option though. Lastly, the browser benchmark can be used by all OS, not just windows

Sadly, news of the DNS redirection has not sat well with the general public, with many accusing MCMC and the government of trying to increase its level of censorship and, in the defense of the people, their fear isn’t unfounded.

Doubt it. Vast majority oblivious or don't care?

LOL......I just wrote about it is out of norm that MCMC straight away implement blocking without any public consultation as per regulation. Now only start public consultation after blocking....somemore in short time before the event too.....cis.......

Not big enough of a jump in terms of raw power. I think the PPPOE performance has hardly improved.

Not only from public people but from ISPs and corporations on technically issue/feasibilty etc as well.

Memang sengaja time the event so nobody is able to attend except their "own people".

The agency basically breaches their fiduciary duty.

Example : https://mcmc.gov.my/en/media/announcements/...essaging-servic

MCMC should have open up a public consultation with industry players (ISPs) and the public people like us before proceeding to instruct ISPs to hijack the IP addresses and redirected the hijacked IP addreseses to their own DNS servers.

Remember, the fact of the case, MCMC IS NOT BLOCKING DOH/DOT protocol, rather MCMC is INSTRUCTING ISPS TO HIJACK THE ALTERNATIVE DNS IP ADDRESSES AND REDIRECT DNS REQUEST TO MCMC DNS SERVER.

What act of laws and regulatory framework gave MCMC the power to do so?
MCMC has power to request ISPs to block site via DNS server belonging to local ISPs, but what gave them the power to instruct ISPs to hijack and redirect the DNS request to other provider DNS server?

ISPs punya lawyers pun satu.......takde yang soal ke?

Maybe some people don't understand this, let me rephrase it

Your lover send you a love letter to your house, but your parents saw it and hide it from you, does it even fair for you especially your privacy! They are invading your privacy and they do not let you see your lover's love letter, heck you might though your lover no longer loves you by stop writing to you

🤣🤣🤣

Means there are probably people in ISPs and TM especially who share the same interest as those in MCMC and govt.. That's why TM went the extra mile.

They really don't see the problem with what they are doing at all. And now that people are bringing up that there might actually a problem, the best way they see to get around it is to convince people that there is, indeed, no problem. No one attends their meet session, no problem lor. Proceed with hijacking DNS again.

I suspect some other powerful people in Cabinet are in on this as well (hint hint, those who have responded to media about the social media licensing and kill switch), so don't be surprised to see some law amendment that makes it legal for MCMC to order DNS hijacking or force everyone to use ISP DNS without public consultation in the near future.
