Looks okay to me, wireless hops will only able to achieve near or to close half of what your actual speed is.

Mesh is just a name, the end results is just to increase coverage or signal strength. Unless you get a mesh or router that has a dedicated wireless band for backhaul, then you can achieve almost or exact to actual speed.

If repeater or dual band wireless mesh, maximum you can get is half of main router and that is with excellent signal strength

In our region, if you’re looking for speed over all else, big two candidates are likely Cloudflare or Google. It also depends on your ISP/Telco peering, and I’m sure you know how badly Unifi sucks at night.

If you want some form of ad/tracker/malware filtering or a non-logging DNS, then you can look at providers like NextDNS, Quad9, ControlD, dnsWarden, AhaDNS-Blitz. Most of these providers have globally distributed servers so you can try and see if you get one with good performance.

Depends. How are you checking the connection? Some web browsers or operating systems will override your router DNS if they have their own encrypted DNS – usually DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) or DNS-over-TLS (DoT) – settings. For example, I think Chrome and Android will always default to using Google DNS unless you manually change the connection settings.

If your router DNS settings doesn’t support encrypted DoH/DoT, then it is always a good idea to set an encrypted DNS on device. Especially useful for mobile devices, since you will continue using the custom DNS you’ve configured even when you’re on cellular data or joined another wifi network.

Hi guys, I have been a Unifi user for years and I was first given a DIR 850 router. Fast forward many years, TM upgraded my 100mbps plan to a 300mbps plan for free last week. However, a speed test with my CAT6 Lan cable connected to my PC shows 100 Mb/s, and the speed test with wifi through my phone shows around 100 Mb/s as well. What should I do to get a more optimal speed?

1. Downgrade my plan to 100mbps since I don't see the difference atm
2. Buy a wifi 6 router, but I'm not sure which to get
3. Try to request a new router from TM and refresh the 2 years contract

Kindly help me out all the sifus here. Thank you very much in advance
