QUOTE(kwss @ Sep 7 2024, 11:14 PM) I don't think so. TM way of blocking created a lot of collateral damage. MCMC now wash hands and say they never tell TM to do BGP hijacking. I don't know is it TM act smart or MCMC hang them out. . I think TM did additional IP blocking, not BGP (IP) hijacking 3 days ago (= 4 Sep 2024) when TM realized DNS blocking with Transparent DNS Proxy did not block encrypted DoH and DoT traffic since early Aug 2024. . This is not IP blocking like how some ISP block pornhub. It's straight up BGP hijacking. It's serious. EDIT: Imagine all ISP are instructed to perform robbery. Some bring knife, some bring Glock. TM brings Javelin. This post has been edited by kwss: Sep 7 2024, 11:52 PM

Last time when the previous government banned only a few websites, including some independent news sources, then this Madani government made big complaint and strong objection.
Now, they become the government and act even worse than their predecessors. Hijacked the DNS and banned thousands of websites instantly. Someone must be held accountable for this. Foreign investors are likely to pull out. We all should vote wisely in the next election.

QUOTE(blackbox14 @ Sep 7 2024, 07:49 PM) Which then begs the question: if not that many people even use 3rd party DNS to bypass blocks and most just surf mainstream sites using ISP DNS, what's wrong with leaving 3rd party ones alone? Why have to go as far as whacking DoT and DoH as well? I know most people here know the answer, but just saying. The majority only does not care until one day FB, X, YouTube, Instagram or whatever big socmed gets banned. Then all of a sudden these people will U turn and cannot trust government? Malaysia style 'as long as it don't affect me' is topkek. It's the same with the Brazilians who supported the Twitter ban until the crazy judge wanted to ban VPNs. Same with the people here who want to ban TikTok. "Censoring opinions I don't like is ok, just don't censor opinions I like."

QUOTE(BladeRider88 @ Sep 7 2024, 09:46 PM) Maybe some people don't understand this, let me rephrase it Your lover send you a love letter to your house, but your parents saw it and hide it from you, does it even fair for you especially your privacy! They are invading your privacy and they do not let you see your lover's love letter, heck you might though your lover no longer loves you by stop writing to you 🤣🤣🤣 hey, your parents might blacklist your lover, and your parents might intercept your love letters and hid them from even reaching you altogether. .... but your parents will not write love letters and later claim it to be from your lover.

They don't know what they doing really most of the time. Sembang and goreng je kuat, typical of any government servant mostly. They can't even accept the truth when mentioned, and will ban you from their building if you criticize them. I worked with a lot of government projects for KKMM and KDN before, their subject matter experts are super outdated, and don't even know what they are talking about. Imagine still doing projects with waterfall method still and no iteration for the most part lol. Waste of tax ringgit that we paid.

https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2024...-be-quarantinedQUOTE Some websites to be ‘quarantined’
PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) says it is planning to “quarantine” rather than block websites with only a small amount of prohibited content. Problem is... It's still a BLOCK QUOTE While quarantined, the websites will remain inaccessible, but access will be restored once the offence is rectified, without the need to file a formal appeal. Now, what if the site refuses to delete the content? Like X/Twitter for example, since there are previous examples of "we would like to inform you that the gov has requested we delete your post, we have taken no action"

That alone should take care very very very large percentage of scam advertisements. Not even need to be Facebook. All ads domains will be great. Solve the root cause, not the middle-man. --------- Seriously, instead of having these, government should just get some generous amount of ads credit from these ads providers and start competing with scammers by having similar content with them but the link will lead to their honeypot website for user education. This is the product of spoonfeed education and people have no critical thinking, time to train them up! This post has been edited by kingkingyyk: Sep 8 2024, 08:44 AM

Like X/Twitter for example, since there are previous examples of "we would like to inform you that the gov has requested we delete your post, we have taken no action" This is messed up. Did they just came out with random law overnight to hold platform at ransom? They can block you with a snap of a finger, but didn't promise when they will unblock you. Plus to get unblock you need to involve high court judge. I'm sure to get to high court you must be a legal entity here, which brings back the media licensing thing.

But they killed all the adblock DNS "to protect you" It's already 2024. Whenever big brother say it's for your protection, 💯 must be propaganda.

All network operators consider BGP hijacking a cyber attack. Maybe they should ask MYNOG member and listen to what they think.
