may not correct, either 10G or straight 50G

and D-Link might replaced with TP-LINK, once know TM made the agreement.

I so far I asked other TM "staff", this might true, not sure 10 or 50G

Should I delay my 1Gbps upgrade hoping to get a non-GPON ONU?
I got call from TM but I didn't answer them... yet.

I hope they go straight to 50G. 10G is only enough for today.
Telco upgrade their infra for the next 15 years. I don't think 10G is sufficient for the next 15 years.

My OLT is a Nokia yo!! Got hope

depends, still Ultra customer eligible to swap with D-Link to new 10G/XGS/XG PON ONU/ONR.

can upgrade today and swap later
or wait if want issue with crappy D-Link.

I feel 50G as TM has tried with ZTE, but no news about Nokia doing the same with TM, but Nokia has 50/100G PON

if TM use 50G PON, (which no SFP Stick available yet) then TM can split fiber a lot more for home, as not many using 2Gbps plan.

The only way now to check contract end date is either through your bind device (example Unifi TV box added date under your account) which has the date stated or contact live chat / walk-in TM Point.

I believe we having same type of contract - Disney Plus Hotstar.
Mine is 29 Sept 2022 - 2024 which is next month.

When is yours ended?

Actually I am curious about the eligible to upgrade thing. It is not written anywhere and I am kind of wary. I don't want to be stuck with a shitty tech.

TM is not reducing the split ratio now and I do not think they will. Reducing split ratio means buying more GPON line card which makes no sense. I see all form of PON upgrade as a good sign.

Nokia has launched 50G PON with Google Fiber and Australia NBN. All the hardware is there.
For true 10G internet, you need at least 25G. XGSPON will only give you around 8Gbps.

Another advantage of 50G PON is you can use it with 5G cell tower. It can sync the clock and transmission time slot between PON and 5G. This is something GPON, XGSPON and 25G PON cannot do. One tech to rule them all.

Just ported from maxis to unifi 300mbps. Got 6 months free.

Old configuration was Huawei ONU + TPlink AX73.

Unifi provided Skyworth Combobox GN630V. I asked the installer to configure the combobox as bridge but he said cannot. I told him that I want to use back the AX73 because of the higher performance compared to the unifi combobox.

He then told me that all wifi 6 the same. 2nd floor cannot get reception. If I really want to use the AX73, he asked me to make it as an AP and connect the LAN1 from combobox to WAN AX73. I followed that and I can use the AX73 router.

My question, should i then change the combobox to become a bridge and configure the ppoe login in my AX73? What is the advantage of this setting compared to the AP?

Thanks.

The CPU on your AX73 is way, way faster than GN630V

It means smoother connection and lower loaded latency

In practical terms, smoother WiFi calls, things load faster like spam scrolling TikTok, less buffering on Youtube if you keep jumping around sections on videos

I included a guide on how to change it to bridge mode previously in this thread, you can look around

2 yrs very fast go by. Of course, check if your current price is already cheap enough and compare with SWU offerings.

Got a call last week out of nowhere and this Saturday supposed to come upgrade to 1GB.
The call ask if I want a new ONR or can use back existing ONU, I requested for new ONR.

Will ask them to set it as bridge and asked to keep the existing ONU if ONR bridging is not performing well.

I guess you just need to wait if you did not pro-actively request it, it will come to you eventually.

It's the current "non-hidden" promo

I will wait for contract end and goes for "hidden" promo like Stay with Unifi (SWU) that gives 6 months free

Today just finished my upgrade speed from Unifi (100 to 300mbps)

The contractor installed skyworth ax3000 gn630v, replacing my setup of tenda ac1200 ac6 + mesh nova mw3.

Question is which setup should i do because i plan to keep using the mesh to cover the wifi for my whole house.

I logged an official complaint to MCMC via their website on 7th August, and then TM responded on 9th August and 12th August for fixing installation appointment (upgrading from 800Mbps to 1Gbps), finally received my free upgrade on 14th August, and the system updated to the correct package on 16th August.

Old modem - ZTE - kept as spare.
New modem - D-Link black - use it now.

So far, so good.
No issues since 14th August until today.

We got an install date tomorrow. We currently have the DIR-3060Zs hooked up to one another by Ethernet.

Can that be done with the black/white D-Link ONR?

Also for some reason our connection just died at around noon today.

Today, I just received a call from UNIFI. My turbo upgrade 2018 package is going to upgrade from current 800Mbps to 1Gbps within this weekend or maybe next week (national day meh) 🤔

By the way, she stated that our area is in phase 2 (Johor), without any contract binding, provided one device (router & modem combined) with one year warranty 🤞🏻
