depends, still Ultra customer eligible to swap with D-Link to new 10G/XGS/XG PON ONU/ONR.
can upgrade today and swap later
or wait if want issue with crappy D-Link.
I feel 50G as TM has tried with ZTE, but no news about Nokia doing the same with TM, but Nokia has 50/100G PON
if TM use 50G PON, (which no SFP Stick available yet) then TM can split fiber a lot more for home, as not many using 2Gbps plan.
Actually I am curious about the eligible to upgrade thing. It is not written anywhere and I am kind of wary. I don't want to be stuck with a shitty tech.
TM is not reducing the split ratio now and I do not think they will. Reducing split ratio means buying more GPON line card which makes no sense. I see all form of PON upgrade as a good sign.
Nokia has launched 50G PON with Google Fiber and Australia NBN. All the hardware is there.
For true 10G internet, you need at least 25G. XGSPON will only give you around 8Gbps.
Another advantage of 50G PON is you can use it with 5G cell tower. It can sync the clock and transmission time slot between PON and 5G. This is something GPON, XGSPON and 25G PON cannot do. One tech to rule them all.
