If you are in 1P parking zone, meaning you can only park for 1 hour. Not a minute more, no extension. You must exit the zone.

2P, 2 hours.

These f*ckers are the ones that make it difficult for me every time. MCB really.

Before some people cry "oh Australia just rasis with Malaysian", nope it's because of CB Kias like this. If you are old people like my mom ETA is still almost instant approval after payment even if using Malaysian passport. Those <40 years old will kena like this.

damn, sorry to hear about that sad.gif

when does he wanna come back?

is it fun at all to pick fruits?

He supposed to be there for 2 years, but ends up keep delaying the come back time and now after 7 years he is still there (i heard the life there is very boring and they not dare to go to the towns). I am wondering what would happen to him when he is finally showing up at the Australia airport? hiding in Australia illegally for so many years won't get extra punishment?

You could try off street parking. After certain hours, it’s free but increasingly rare in CBD areas now

Simple answer: don't drive into CBD of any major Oz city. The parking will bleed you.

Even just 5 years ago it wasn't that bad. Since Covid reopening, inflation has skyrocketed and these parking areas took the opportunity to suck more blood.

However, public transport isn't cheap either. So if you are a group of 4 or 5, it may still work out viable driving and parking.

Nothing is cheap in Australia.

If you are in South East Queensland between now and 5 Feb 2025 (subject on who wins the state election on 26 Oct 2024), public transport is a flat $0.50 per trip for a 6 month 'trial'.

Yes take a train from Brisbane to Helensvale, switch to the Gold Coast Tram to Broadbeach, and end up on Tweed Heads, and it'd cost a grand total of 50 cents for that whole trip.

Harsh. Milk and dairy products, peanut butter, even coconut milk for cooking believe it or not, to name a few, are cheaper in Australia vs Malaysia.

But yes, as a general statement, driving in the CBD of any major Australian city is strongly discouraged.

You can book parking in advance thru the Wilson Parking App - it’s cheaper but still not cheap

Correction: nothing is cheap because our exchange rate is shxt. Australia is actually very very cheap compared to income. Even eating out also still very cheap considering their wages so high.
Coffee from cafe is still $5-6 (only $2 at 7-11), McD is also <$10. $10 in Coles can buy rump steak, broccoli, 1l milk and I still will have change left.

Here coffee from cafe is how much? McD how much? RM 10 can buy what in supermarket?

More importantly, how long for me to earn RM 10 in the lowest paid job like McD vs how long for me to earn $10? And how far can that RM10 or $10 go?

Going Brisbane and Gold Coast. Not going to do a long tram ride. I dont have that kinda free time. Somemore with their early closing hours of between 4-5pm! Man.. have to plan everything within that short window.. gonna have to heavy use the printer to make guide timetables for locations..... 😝.. 24hr McD/KFC/Jacks.. 24hr Dobi.. Latest Woolworths/Target... operating hours.. etc..

Just wanted to share my experience.

I applied for an ETA for me and my parents, seperately, about 2 weeks ago. My parents' ETA was approved almost immediately like always. Mine however, needed extra information.

Background, I've been to Australia, well Sydney, since early 90s. Been there probably more than 10 times, so many times that I lost count. Previously my ETA was granted almost immediately. I used to apply ETA about 1-2 weeks in advance because it's more or less granted previously. However, after hearing the horror stories from friends, we decided to do it about 4 months earlier.

The last time I went to Sydney was in 2018, before the current ETA system was in place. Then Covid happened and I didn't travel to Sydney since then. This is the first time I used the current ETA system for myself. My parents' ETA has always been approved immediately.

Anyway, I created an ImmiAccount and they wanted proof that I can support my stay and also it's a temporary stay. I thought ok, I just send in my bank statement, which is more than enough to support my trip, and a return flight ticket which proves that I'm coming back to KL.

4 days later, I was refused. The letter said that they are not convinced that I have sufficient incentives to return to Malaysia at the end of my trip.

So since I have experience on what they want, I prepared myself. About 1 week after the refusal, I applied again and uploaded these:-

- MyKad
- Birth cert
- Marriage cert
- Drivers license
- Passport
- Letter from company
- 3 months salary slip
- 2 years EPF statements
- 3 months bank statement
- FD statement
- House title
- Income tax filing (BE form)
- Hotel booking (didn't upload it the first time)
- Return air ticket

My ETA was then approved 3 days later.

I have no idea what worked and what didn't but I guess my advice is to upload everything they ask, even if you think some of the things don't matter (like house titles, Marriage cert, etc), and answer everything truthfully.

Good luck!

EDIT: I also gave them information on my two previous passports which were used to travel to Australia in Form 1554. Like I said, I don't really know what worked and what didn't. I just gave them every bit of information that helped.

Just a letter stating that I took leave to visit my brother in Sydney from this date to that date and I am expected to be back to work on this date.

I didn't upload my old passports, just listed the passport numbers down in Form 1554.

House deed I just submitted verbatim.

I have an apostrophe in my name as well. Just follow accordingly. If they ask for your passport name, then use the one without a dash. If they ask for your name in other document, just follow the name in that national document.

"4 days later, I was refused. The letter said that they are not convinced that I have sufficient incentives to return to Malaysia at the end of my trip."

Note that statement.

They did NOT say they think you cannot afford your trip. It's not a money question.

They obliquely said they think you are a jump plane risk.

What do you think they want from you? Probably only one document you submitted they are interested in. Proof you have a stable job and life in Malaysia. Your employer letter.

This ETA is really a joke. Might as well stop the charade and make Malaysians apply for a full on visa.

We only have our fruit picking illegal overstaying countrymen to blame for this.

ETA is still much cheaper than Full visa.
I think the ETA has auto immediate approval for limited criteria like age >60 y.o OR <12y.o for Malaysian. The rest need to submit more documents.
