[URGENT] Unable to verify passport info via AustralianETA app

To Whom It May Concern,

Trying to use ETA App on iPhone13/Oppo/Huawei. It won't scan passport (gets stuck in green scanning mode, despite no glare on passport) and will not read passport with NFC functionality. Completely stuck. It's been a month now.

Heard that the Australian embassy won,t attend any enquiries related to visa and citizenship matters. So, I'm totally lost now.

FYI, my brother had renewed passport (thinking that the existing passport might have an unknown issue that was blocking the passport to scan further) but still not successful.

Weird thing is, he just came back with the same passport from Munich few days before and had no issue to scan thru via autogate plus immigration's officer here in Malaysia didn't find any abnormalities on the passport itself.

Kindly attend the matter at your earliest convenience.

NOTE: The flight ticket, our stay and car rental already sorted out and next week we'll fly to Gold Coast. But with no visa granted yet, I doubt we can't make it on the dot.

Seatled dy? The nfc chip is not at the front red cover of your MY passport. Don't be misleaded by that chip logo on the cover

I completely forgot about the visa situation when I booked my flight for sept this year. I believe based on my situation, I have a low chance of approval because I'm now driving grab as my part time income while I am also part time studying. Clearly my grab income is not stable and it's relatively low considering that I'm only doing it part time. Any tips to get my ETA approved based on your experiences?

Assets wise pretty ok, but income wise severely lacking. Maybe I should quickly get employed within the next 2 months then reapply after that 😅

Just hoping and praying that I won't have to burn my tickets, really stupid mistake to make, but what to do.
*
Don't worry la, if DHA wants more documents, most importantly give proof that you have reasons of returning to your home country ie a beautiful wife, ongoing school children, a home deed with mortgage, you mentioned you are currently part time study > this is a good reason - show proof of the course time-table, your fee payment receipts etc etc

As for the travel expenses, some small savings to show will do. How many days is your booked return flight? any relatives, siblings who are currently residing in Aust? Get a letter of invites from them, attest your place of stay (local address), period of stay and will see to your return to your country of origin.

Apply ETA first la, just click on the link for the guidelines in their reply email to know the required documents lo

Now, students need to front up RM100,000 to prove that they’re not going to jump aeroplane….. I think it’s a real possibility that we may have further scrutiny on the ETA application moving forward….

I welcome this update. It's long overdue, DHA should have done so way much earlier.

Wow… that’s really digging into our financial history
*
Well that's the most reliable piece of paper proofing employment, a true filter for reasons to return to home country (in a way)

I say, right move and probably DHA can make do omitting all other submittals ie payslips, co letter, co leave confirmation etc

Food for thought - what about those Chinaman companies that declare directorship and dividends post tax? Their EPFs might be measly or non existent but their wallets are bursting… and they are fat cats … so a bit hard to hop like a kangaroo and jump planes hahaha
*
Well, one segment to each.

EPF is manly for those under employment which I believe is the largest segment. It's statement is self explanatory to many other docs.

Those you mentioned can always substantiate the likes of tax doc, audit, DHA also accept any form of assets declaration in your home country ie fd print-out etc etc

My niece ape pun taklak, just submitted 3 docs. 1)her current local postgraduate admission w/ next semester date 2)letter of invite 3)a small saving acc balance as her source of travel expenses.

DHA just wants to be convinced of 'reasons to return' to your home country

I kena flagged.
I first time and applied via SG location with MY passport

Walaoweh smlj documents all also submitted.
Bank statements, payslip, CPF statement, even my mama also don’t know how much I worth
*
Why you submitted cpf, bank statement and payslip for.

You missed out a convincing reason of your return ie full time employment, leave (CO letter), ongoing study (if applicable) etc

DHA ain't want to know how much your worth, just proof of money/ fund you have to cover your X-days of expenses & stay.

On a slightly related note, my RRV renewal was approved within 3 days - just got it in the mail today, after we submitted the paperwork just before the weekend. Happy days.

They reading or spying on me? Know what?... after all that paperwork i've submitted.. this is quite an interrogation compared to IRB's requests. So.. let's skip the foreplay and get to the meat.. If Aussie immi wanna follow/spy me.. you're more than welcome.

So let's skip the car tailing; drone flying crap. Here.. i'll give you the keys to the rental car. YOU DRIVE. Dont bother wasting your time bugging, tagging and following. YOURE INSIDE the CAR LISTEING and WATCHING everything up close. BUT YOU DRIVE . Dont mind.. i'll pay your share of the Hungry Jacks/McD lunch. Heck.. if you want.. they're more than welcome to chaperone me and my family to WB Studios.. movie world.. sea world.. australia zoo.. etc.. My entire itinery is there for them. Dont waste time trying to bug and follow me. just chaperone me!

Hell i'd leave them guys a bottle or 2 of jack daniels and smokes as thanks for the chaperone since they're basically doing babysitting and bodyguarding and tour guide duties at Aussie Gov expense if they think i'm worth spying. Just no need hide in the bushes. Here's the dang car keys. *(a la North Korean Tourism style)

What a rant there where others mostly, even with full docs submission got
granted in less than 6 days.

20+ days, any mis-step or irrelevant submittals on your part to begin with?

Best thing. NOTHING. No issues. First and only application. Wife rejected first within 72 hrs. New one took 1 week. At least if i'm rejected with an error i understand. Just left me pending for 3 weeks... 🤔

Okok bro. Enjoy your holiday. Have fun

Since you mentioned car rental in your rant. Do take notice of the 1P 2P 3P 4P parking ruling ya. Jgn kena penalty hor, it's as good as your 1L JD pricing (duty free)

Corrected

Sorry? Please clarify? only thing i could find on google was parking in Sydney Airport...
*
If you are in 1P parking zone, meaning you can only park for 1 hour. Not a minute more, no extension. You must exit the zone.

2P, 2 hours.

Guys, need a little help. I'm applying for the ETA and have uploaded the following docs
1. 3 months Payslip
2. 3 months Bank statement
3. Epf
4. Land title
5. Employment contract
6. Shareholding docs
7. Passport
8. IC
9. Itinerary
10. Flight booking
11. Form 1554 filled

And yet when I wanted to click to proceed it says that "not all required evidence has been provided" I'm so confused, is there something wrong? I would think all the above documents would be sufficient.
*
Did you provide each and every sub section with evidence (attachment).

From your listing. What evidence you provided for 1) place of stay (prepaid and/or pre-booked, if staying with relative ie letter of invite, local tour engagement etc 2) evidence/ reasons to return to home country ie employer's letter validating your absence date from work and return date to work.

1-6 are on what you have/had (source to finance your trip) but not reasons to come back.

9. Evidence on place of stay is important here. Not the long write up where you plan to go/visit and eat.
