Anyone sent in their "request for further info" submission recently?
Just sent in mine today, with just slightly > 2 weeks to planned date. I'm travelling with 3 friends, Taiwanese. Which their ETAs get approved almost immediately. I know it is entirely my fault for not checking more details since my friends told me ETA can get almost immediately (true for 99% of Taiwanese). What I submitted: - Form 1554 - Form 54 - passport, nric - Taiwanese ARC (proof of residency and employment status) - 2024 tax statement - 3 months Payslips - 3 months bank statements - officially certified Certificate of Balance from my bank - Itinerary, fully booked tickets and hotels Now have to stressfully waiting dunno how many days. |

My visa was approved in 2 days last time (August this year). 3. The documents you submitted look fine, except for the booked ticket. 4. The rule is to book the ticket only after the visa is secured |

QUOTE(zlewe @ Nov 12 2025, 02:30 PM) wow looks like I got the lottery For Malaysians below 40 yo (based on friends and family's ETA applications), generally you will need to give yourself more time to get an ETA. 1 week in without any responses 4. yea ik. it was not wise to say the least... I've been applying every year for the past 3-4 years, every year also ask for more info, every year also I'll apply around 2 months in advance lol. My most recent application was in March this year, submitted extra info on 3rd March, got the approval letter on 8th March. Hopefully you'll get a respond within this week. |

I think there is a formula inside, based on what I hear around me.
My personal experience is : Immediate Approval after paying the AUD20. But I have similar friends,... needed to submit docusments. My wives needed to submit documents. My niece and cousin, after submitting good documents also can't get visas. |

QUOTE(munkeyflo @ Nov 13 2025, 02:13 PM) Age is a huge factor yea, based on friends and family experiences. Above 40yo usually get their ETA approved immediately. Below that, every time apply also require further info. Apparently for Malaysian only, high risk country for plane jumperWith MYR rising, will they be more lenient in the future? I guess my profile is quite unconventional, thus the delay... Case officer might not be experienced with Taiwanese documents. |

This is more reliable definitely, and I appreciate your efforts. One registered migration lawyer's office requested Freedom of Information via Immigration Australia for below statistics (assuming border only reopens around March 2022) - that's like a huge spike in rejections. For what reasons? We all know... ![]() And if this source is more reliable for you - it was even called out in Australia Parliamentary papers https://www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Busine...F024186%2F26181 I can understand from that definitely how our nation's supposed "visitors" act and I believe it surely would have impacted the rejection rates to a certain extent. Quoting recent reported incident of Malaysian travelers (not "aeroplane jumpers"), vandalizing Japan's Bamboo forest (source would be news based rather than empirical). I can say its definitely the mentality of these people. Embarrassing Malaysia - One Tourist At A Time I can probably infer a few possible reasons, without intending to defend these people: - Uneducated or poorly educated, no way out, in search of a proper livelihood, bought ticket and escaped this way. - Same poorly educated / uneducated that they are, lived the way they have been here (which most of the time is not contributing positively to community / society) - impacts the same environment they escaped to, but with the added benefits of social protection there. - Enough local people there complaints for authorities to take action. - Rejection rates rise. I mean, even when Malaysians eat out, they also don't clean after themselves - Citing "I paid for this" etc etc. Come on, cleaning after one self is not about transactional action, but rather a demeanor of a civilized individual; Toilets, wet and clogged, same issue. I see multiple issues that could have risen and led to this phenomena, affecting all travelers alike, starting right at home, all the way to the haven that they escaped to. Unfortunate, but I can see this happen everywhere too. Hopefully, we can be a strong and developed enough of a nation to essentially be a better place to live and work, and stop people from wanting to "escape" altogether. polarzbearz liked this post

Final update:
- Most probably going to cancel my flight in a few hours. - Two weeks+ without any responses - In hindsight, I would recommend others in the same age bracket as me (below 30) to directly apply for the Subclass 600 Visitor Visa instead. - From what I have read, ETA further processing, in some cases, has indefinite processing time, whereas for Subclass 600, they have a deadline to meet. |
