"4 days later, I was refused. The letter said that they are not convinced that I have sufficient incentives to return to Malaysia at the end of my trip."

Note that statement.

They did NOT say they think you cannot afford your trip. It's not a money question.

They obliquely said they think you are a jump plane risk.

What do you think they want from you? Probably only one document you submitted they are interested in. Proof you have a stable job and life in Malaysia. Your employer letter.
*
I agree. No incentive to return to Malaysia = jump plane risk.

They wanted proof of finance for my trip and also proof that the stay is temporary.

Proof of financing my trip = money/bank statement.
Proof of temporary stay = return ticket.
And it wasn't enough for them.

That statement came after they refused me, which is why I uploaded more documents on the second application. Like I said previously, I have no idea what worked and what didn't. I just uploaded everything they asked for, even if I think it didn't matter when it comes to a visa application.

Anyway, I am just sharing my experience.

Usually it's the employer letter. The same is true when applying for a US visa.

Actually, just need your employer to certify you are gainfully employed.

For self employed, some evidences that you are running a business, maybe the latest LHDN returns and business registration.

For the young retired, then maybe funds. For the old required, they normally will approve. Unless you are very old, then sometimes they want more injury, even a medical examination.

Lol. It's a nickname I've been using for nearly, wow, nearly 30 years. Didn't know it's been that long until I calculated it.

Guys, need a little help. I'm applying for the ETA and have uploaded the following docs
1. 3 months Payslip
2. 3 months Bank statement
3. Epf
4. Land title
5. Employment contract
6. Shareholding docs
7. Passport
8. IC
9. Itinerary
10. Flight booking
11. Form 1554 filled

And yet when I wanted to click to proceed it says that "not all required evidence has been provided" I'm so confused, is there something wrong? I would think all the above documents would be sufficient.

Did you provide each and every sub section with evidence (attachment).

From your listing. What evidence you provided for 1) place of stay (prepaid and/or pre-booked, if staying with relative ie letter of invite, local tour engagement etc 2) evidence/ reasons to return to home country ie employer's letter validating your absence date from work and return date to work.

1-6 are on what you have/had (source to finance your trip) but not reasons to come back.

9. Evidence on place of stay is important here. Not the long write up where you plan to go/visit and eat.

Thanks for the reply, I guess then I'm short of 2 docs, 1 letter from HR stating that I will be back to work after my leave and a letter of invitation from my friend who is hosting me there. Quite troublesome, but I guess it is what it is.

no. You can enter at the last day of visa validity, and stay up to 3 months.

As is stated many times in this thread, all they want to know is, whether you are a jump plane risk.

So they want to know 2 basic things, and maybe one extra.

1) Why do you want to go to Australia.

2) Do you have a good reason to leave after, and return to your country of residence.

3) Do you have enough funding (own money or a sponsor) for the visit.

No need to show them your entire wealth, really!!

BTW, no need plane tickets, in fact they advice you NOT to make any bookings before getting your visa. All plane jumpers have flight tickets, including return. Says nothing.

plane jumpers would have jumped long before the end of the visa, at first entry.

I had the same problem even though I uploaded everything. I just proceed to submit. I have a feeling that note is just a reminder or something.

I got the letter from HR today, so i just attached that as well as my letter of invitation and yet the message saying not all evidence has been provided still pops up.. quite troubling tbh. But I gave everything I should, so I guess just like you, I will just have to assume its just a standard message that pops up.

wohooo, my visa is approved. The message which pops up "not all required evidence has been provided" is probably either a scare tactic to make sure you double check or it could be because there is the optional portion at the top for the family book thing of which is not applicable to malaysians.

That message is most likely for the family trees section which is not applicable for malaysian.
