Sorry to ask, but I thought Malaysians are entitled to ETA?
I’m still on my Malaysian passport but because I’m an Australian PR, visas don’t apply to me, so I tumpang tanya, thanks |

QUOTE(rx330 @ Sep 1 2023, 12:59 PM) old folks on the eta app immediately approved after payment made Sigh. So troublesome. Wifey converted to Singapore passport decades ago and her Australian PR application was so much simpler than mine and even her application for visitor visas prior to us obtaining our PRs was so much simpler. mine after eta submission, will still need to go website and attached forms of financial status n those listed as above I did mine few months back, all in all about 10 working days to get it approved just attached as many supporting documents u have I remember the Australians wanting to see my bank statements and how much savings I had. |

QUOTE(ClericKilla @ Sep 1 2023, 01:58 PM) I have a licence as a recognised specialist in Australia and coupled with my PR status, that allows me to run my practice on a part time basis whenever I’m back in Sydney every alternate month. My main practice is still in Singapore. |

QUOTE(ClericKilla @ Sep 1 2023, 08:39 PM) Oh I was assuming you applied it last few years back when you came to this forum .. so the plan was 15 years in making la? haha Haha. Yeah. I’m a slow burn fuse kind of guy. I asked /k for an opinion on what Porsche to buy and took nearly 3 years to report back that I finally bought it… selowpuki, I believe is a term that is brandished here ever so often…Eastern Suburb defo not first time migrator would choose but means careful planning Ya, planning to apply. |

QUOTE(sadlyfalways @ Sep 2 2023, 12:40 AM) Aussie visa supposed to be instant approval right? it's not a visa, just travel authorization Even Djokovic learned that the hard way…maybe too many malaysian overstay already lmaooo even last time i went, one malaysian couple came so obvious scam, had whole printed itenary full of information, but didn't know what to fill up on landing form in the end i saw them taken for extra screening rip. I have a friend too, malay muslim single male in 20s, he and his brother were both rejected this travel thing, and the in person visa. They were trying to go for their australian citizen cousin wedding, and even with proof, offer letter, invite letter, bond, multiple tries, all failed aussie only country that dont give reason, and dont let you reapply same visa also drakonian |

Honestly, after reading all the trials & tribulations of applying for an Aussie visa whilst still carrying a Malaysian passport, I'm just ever so grateful that I have Australian PR status and I can just wave my passport thru immigration every time.

QUOTE(ClericKilla @ Sep 5 2023, 04:48 PM) Just to update TS also. Congratulations bro. With the ease you obtained your ETA, it looks very likely that your PR application is going to be a shoo-in as well. All the very best and keep us updated please.Applied on Saturday Approved on Tuesday. The process more streamlined but the documents they asked haha a lot. |

QUOTE(nauticat99 @ Sep 5 2023, 11:02 PM) Next time you are at the KLiA boarding gate, keep your eyes wide open. You should see 1-2 immigration officers there. They do turn away those with ETA. I thought once you have a valid ETA, you’re cleared for entry … why would anyone stop you from boarding and on what grounds? |

I fly from Singapore (where I work) to Australia at least 6 times a year (we have a holiday home and my Porsches are parked there), and in thankful that I’ve never been stopped … and in Singapore there are no Australian border police that I noticed. I’ll keep an eye out for them and see if they are present later this month (I’m due to fly back again).

QUOTE(miuk @ Sep 6 2023, 06:26 AM) If i recall there are also multiple stories in the news of msian travellers being turned away at the boarding gate. Sob stories about burning prepaid travel with no recourse since the officers decision at KLIA will over ride any prior approvals. Quite sad to think that the 2nd most powerful passport in ASEAN is treated like this ....This post has been edited by hksgmy: Sep 6 2023, 12:54 PM |

QUOTE(nauticat99 @ Sep 6 2023, 03:36 PM) Yeah, I don’t think they flag based on dressing. If like this then those back packers from US/Europe wouldn’t be able to enter Australia. Some really look homeless🤣. Don't you all use the e-Gate when you clear immigration in Australia? I don't know whether it's because we are PRs or not, but my wife (she carries a Singaporean passport) is eligible for e-Gate use (no counters), and I use my Malaysian passport via the e-Gate (SmartGate), no worries. Don't even have to see the immigration officer's black face. One tip I can give is when you approach the immigration counters at Australia, be prepared to answer them when they ask you some innocuous question like “why are you in Australia or where are you staying or planning to go”. The way they asked is so nonchalant and friendly but behind is to an attempt to check if you are a genuine tourist or traveller. Many got caught here due to language barrier - Australian do swallow their words!. |

QUOTE(Eulm585 @ Sep 6 2023, 05:56 PM) Primary check Shit. I can't believe that I've been travelling back and forth Singapore and Sydney (I'm still Malaysian, holding the 2nd most powerful passport in ASEAN) every other month, and I've been totally blind to all this! I just walk through the e-Gate and collect the bags at the belt. Half the time, we get waved through customs check as well, because we always make sure we pack our food stuff in a separate bag, ready for inspection. So if you are flagged as high risk, the smart gate will prompt error and ask u to go to manual counter. Secondary check is those immigration officer that holding tablets after the smart gate that will intercept you after you pass the e-gates if they see you as suspicious I'm going to look out for these guys this coming visit .... just for fun |
