My SD card slot was behaving weirdly yesterday night, it wasn't detecting the card properly and thus boot ups and stuff was very slow.

When it's working properly, boot up is fast.. i haven't timed it before but I know it's definetly not a minute.

And yes, I have all the updates installed too.

is the transfer speed from the sd card fast? if does, you can use a 4gb sd card to expand the capacity. my 2 cents.

Use internal SSD, average speed around 24-26mb/s

Use FlashDrive, Average speed around 6-12mb/s

Use Normal SD card (<2G), Average speed around 4-10mb/s

Use 8G SDHC Class6, Average speed around 15-16.8mb/s

Use Highspeed 2G MiniSD + Adapter, Average speed around 12-14mb/s

Use High speed flash drive (ie Corsair Yoyager GT Series), Average speed around 16-20mb/s (Cost a bomb)

Use The A-Data 8G SDHC Class 6 for my Eee. Save movie (rmvb, avi, wmv) and music (mp3) inside, no lagging.

About the software.....i didn't install inside the SDHC

the whole idea of getting an eeepc is to be a notebook companion and not to replace a notebook...

Ok, something weird happened to my eeePC yesterday, the SD card reader didn't want to detect or read any cards. In fact, if I left a card in there during bootup, the system basically hangs cause the BIOS is trying to see if there's anything bootable in the card slot.

Windows would ask if I wanted to format the card, which I politely declined, after reinsterting the card a few times it finally came back to life again... but it's a weird issue to begin with.

You can just install it ler.. have to tweak. Mine boots pretty quick.. 30sec thereabout.
Installation size nlite'd including a bunch of apps --> 1.13gb which means got more space to add more crap compared with the default xandros
